High fives all around for their amazing Branzino, their refreshing selection of oysters, their buttery potted salmon, and their punch-in-your-face clam dip. This was my third visit back since their grand opening — the flavor and quality of the food was wonderful and the service was good — maybe a little too good. My server asked if I needed help de-boning the Branzino. I didn’t even know this was a thing! I was definitely caught off guard because when you say it fast — it just sounds like he asked me if I needed help boning my fish. Ummmm no?! Hahah but on a serious note, I declined, because a real foodie knows how to handle fish — bones and all. If your hands are not getting dirty, you’re not doing it right.

The service was 4 stars, the food was 3 stars, but for the price it only gets 2 stars. We started with the smoked clam dip and it was tasty and the potato chips were fresh but slightly salty. My wife had the opah which she enjoyed and I had the Thai fisherman’s stew. My scallop was cooked perfectly however is wasn’t adequately cleaned so large amounts of grit made it inedible. The jalapeño pistou and coconut lemongrass broth were surprisingly flavorless. Both mine and my wife’s dishes were served at room temperature and I recall the waitress mentioning something about this but I didn’t expect all parts of all main dishes to be served tepid. I can’t see what that was supposed to enhance because it did nothing from my perspective. Who wants room temperature fisherman’s stew? A second curiosity was my red wine which they have on tap served in a carafe was served cold like I would expect of my white wines. Maybe I was disappointed because I went in with high expectations.

Great Food. Great Vibes. I ordered the crab cakes and they were delicious! My boyfriend ordered the Thai Fishermans Stew and he lovvvveeddd it. The highlight of the entire experience was the Gelato. They brought three different flavors: Pistachio, Salted Carmel, and Blackberry Tea or something like that… Wowza homerun Current… Homerun!

I would choose this place any day than Market Street Grill. The atmosphere is nicer and food is better overall. The prices though are similar. Pretty expensive. I can’t come here on a casual day but on a special occasion or if it’s company paid like today. Parking is also horrible, unless you want to park really close by and pay $ 2 per hour. Be prepared to spend here but if you don’t mind that kind of thing then you found your spot.

Well first off– they sat me at the bar in the corner since I was dining alone. I wanted steamed mussels but when I tried to order them– they were out. They don’t offer a cab nor a Merlot by the glass so I settled for a Pinot. I ended up ordering a ½ dozen oysters and a side salad. They were really good but not very filling and the salad left a lot to be desired for $ 5. So I ordered another round of oysters, only grilled this time around. Those were good but definitely not worth the cash. My server was not helpful or friendly and I quickly closed my tab. Luckily for me and the restaurant owners, Jessica a manger, asked how my meal was. I hesitated because I hate complaining but after some prodding I told her about my full experience. She saved the day and was very friendly and apologetic and offers to take some $ off my bill. Since I had already closed up she sent me on my way with a chocolate moose dessert that I brought back to my hotel. It was amazing! Jessica needs a raise! That is how you fix a bad dining experience and awarded this establishment 3 stars when there would have only been 1.

Found this place by accident on the way to Gourmandise The Bakery and then checked it out on Unilocal and saw that it has been around only a year or so. We had to make reservations and try out their brunch, and glad we did. Impeccable service, perfectly cooked and prepared food. Nice ambiance on top of that. Favorite item was the crab benedict with crab cakes at the base instead of a muffin. Outstanding! Can’t wait to come back for dinner and see what goodies they have on the menu.

My first impression of Current was amazing and the restaurant still delivers months later. We had dinner reservations for 6 the day after Thanksgiving. The place was busy but we were quickly seated upstairs. Maybe it was all the hot air rising but the upstairs was very warm to the point that it made me sleepy towards the end of the meal. We shared two appetizers: The Ahi Tuna Tartare and the Crab Cakes. The Crab Cakes only come with two cakes but they were flavorful and well cooked with a nice crunch; the aioli was delicious and the celery root salad had a nice punch of acid. The Ahi Tuna Tartare was fantastic and I high recommend this! The fish is fresh, sliced well, and went well with the smooth avocado mousse. The root vegetable chicharronnes was the perfect accompaniment. Four out of six of us ordered the Pan Roasted Sea Scallops. We were uneasy about the caper raisin pesto it comes with but we were blown away with this deliciously interesting combination! The scallops were well seared and the cauliflower purée was silky smooth. I would definitely order this again in a heart beat. The Thai Fisherman’s Stew was also ordered per the recommendation of our waiter and the bowl was completely eaten. The broth was poured over the ingredients after it arrived to the table. The broth was light and not too heavy with the coconut milk and the seafood portion was generous. The night’s special was also ordered which was Shrimp & Grits with Hawaiian shrimps and a bolognese sauce; different from the summer menu version but so good regardless. The bowl was completely finished by the most petite member of our party. We shared three desserts per the recommendation of our waiter: Pineapple Tart Tatin, Gingerbread Cake, and Chocolate Mousse. All were beautifully presented and had interesting flavors; there was no unanimous favorite! The Pineapple Tart Tatin had a great balance of tartness and sweetness. The Gingerbread Cake was better than expected; the ginger gelato and the cheesecake mousse were sensational. The Chocolate Mousse was luxuriously delicious with a nice balance of sweetness and acidity; the different textures really elevated the entire dish. The Belafonte was also ordered to enjoy with dessert, which was similar to a hot toddy. It was very fragrant from all the spices and not what was expected but pretty good regardless. Overall another great experience with food and service. This has quickly moved onto my list of top 5 favorite restaurants in Salt Lake City.

I came here for brunch and it was okay, but I wasn’t all that impressed. I got the crab cakes benedict and while it was good, it wasn’t worth the money($ 18). The potatoes were also nothing special. I’m a potato lover. They’re probably my favorite food, but I still believe they should be cooked with some flavor! I ate every bite of my plate and was still a little hungry. I guess I’m a big eater. We also ordered the House Smoked Salmon for the table to share and it was okay, but again, I wasn’t blown away with it. I also feel like our brunch menu was smaller than the one they have online. Maybe I’m crazy though. Needless to say, I obviously need to come back and give this place another try. My sister loves this place and raves about their shrimp, but I didn’t try any. My dad also enjoys the clam chowder which I need to give a try. I also like that they have some good non-seafood options. Un-Common Burger, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Regular Eggs Benedict. For now, this place is just okay in my opinion.
