If the length is daunting, see my «Too Long; Didn’t Read» at the bottom :3 Solstice chocolate is on my list of best local chocolates, and really, best chocolate in general. This is the kind of chocolate you should be eating, it’s increasingly healthier than common grocery store bought, consisting of only: Organic Cacao beans, Organic Cane Sugar, and Organic Cocoa Butter. Seriously, that’s it. They have many different«flavors» of chocolate — named after the areas in which they get their beans… but remember when I listed the ingredients above? The flavors you taste in the different bars come from ONLY the Cacao beans(there is NO added flavoring!) It is marvelous, and really unbelievable. The owners of Solstice are so freaking awesome. They seriously know their chocolate, and their passion and drive to supply a high-quality, organic product is refreshing. They love what they do, and I love supporting them. You can talk to either Scott or Deann and be blown away by the amount of knowledge you can gain on cacao beans, the process of making chocolate, and the areas around the world that supply them with their beans(and how much the environment and weather can hurt the growth of the crop, and thus harming their supply to make certain bars). I love to stop and chat with them while they are at the Farmer’s Market. In their chocolate line, my baby is the Madagascar bar. I cannot express the kind of experience it is to try this one. it has an abundance of fruity flavors, and again NO flavoring has been added. I’m also a huge fan of the Bolivian blend(a more nutty, yet very smooth tasting and feeling chocolate), and their Wasatch blend — a wonderful concoction with a spicy taste. This is the chocolate you should be eating. Since I started looking towards consuming better and healthier options of chocolate, it’s really hard(impossible…) to go back to any store-bought commercial swill. Their products are going to change your love and appreciation of chocolate, and you can feel great about eating it. The bars ARE a bit pricey at $ 7.99 for a package. I’m not one to blast through a whole bar of chocolate, so one package will last me a little while, but might get on the steeper end for my chocolate addicts out there. One bar consists of 8 huge squares(I’ll take a square and break it up into a lot of little pieces to prolong the experience, and to also test my palate to see what types of notes I can pick up — and believe me, you will pick up a lot of them). I will warn you now… bringing yourself into the world of fine Solstice chocolate WILL tarnish your previous love of what manufacturers call«chocolate». Change the way you eat, and love your body by consuming real chocolate, while also helping support a truly astounding local company. TL;DR: This is not the cheap, added sugar, added chemicals, added everything chocolate commonly purchased in stores. Solstice Chocolate is a blend of flavor that comes directly from the beans used. The owners rock, and are so knowledgable and passionate about their work. It’s a pricey little bar — but well worth every dollar. You will never be able to go back to what everyone’s come to know as «chocolate». Give your body a giant hug by consuming some straight up organic, worldly, flavor exploding chocolate.
