I came here for brunch with a friend not so sure about eating at a vegetarian place since I’m a big meat eater. I was so wrong to be worried. I ordered their full breakfast and was blown away by the tofu scramble. It was probably the best tofu I’ve eaten. The pancakes were amazing as was everything else on the plate and I left feeling quite full and like I got my money’s worth. The hibiscus mimosa I had was amazing as well. I’d recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food.

I’ve been here a few times and the food is amazing. The second time, however, the waitress seemed like she just didn’t want to be there, that she couldn’t be bothered. I don’t think she even made eye contact with me the whole time. But you know what? She shouldn’t be there. She should probably be studying or traveling or relaxing into the embrace of a lover. Working as a waitress is an absurd situation for any animal – even a human – to find themselves in. It’s not the fault of the café that she was in the pit of existential dread that day. Our possibilities for happiness are restricted by the artifacts of human civilization. So she is one of the discontents of civilization. Big deal. She did bring the food out. The atmosphere is really nice, too. Highly recommended.

The food is just alright. Way too expensive for what you get. Such a douchey atmosphere too. My waiter bowed after he took my order.

This place is wonderful! The food is delicious, you forget you’re eating vegan. Their pancakes are my personal favorite. The staff is incredible as well, their is a woman that works their that is the sweetest person you will ever meet, her name is Dana, if I remember correctly. She was warm and kind, and made the experience just great! I will definitely be sending ALL my vegan friends their way.

The coffee was exceptional, the food was decent. For my tastes, a little bland. Everything was well cooked.

This place was very impressive! The staff was super nice! The food came out and looked like it was prepped for a photoshoot! All vegan and tasted great. They use oil, so be aware of that. Still can’t believe how great tasking the food was! I would highly recommend this place! We will definitely be coming back.

I hate to say this but I didn’t like it. We went there based on the great reviews and left disappointed. Vegan tiramisu is a creative and great idea except for it didn’t taste anything like tiramisu and had pieces of aluminum foil in it

Great place, the sandwich I had was amazing. I want to say that it was probably the best one I have had since becoming a vegan(cubano). The atmosphere was nice and able to serve a party of eight with no problems. Our waitress was kind and very helpful. Great place if your looking for something comfortable and friendly.

In short: Vegetarian food, done well. Ambiance: I ate here for lunch on a week day, so no surprise that the crowd was very thin. The interior is nice. No excess noise, good lighting, clean. Was able to have a conversation across the table without any straining. Cannot speak to the evening feel, but it looks like it is set up to be considerably busier. Food: I liked but didn’t love my food, some kind of vegetable stir fry. Mom had a grilled sandwich and soup, which was pretty tasty. The menu definitely sounds more interesting than I selected that day, I must have been in a boring food mood. But the stir fry was done well, not excessively salty or sickeningly sweet. I also had one of their specialty cocktails. It was very good, and I could barely taste the alcohol. Service: Very good, attentive, and surprisingly fast. No negatives here. Overall: A great option for the vegetarian, with offerings that even the meat-eaters in your life can appreciate.

I was in Utah for a business trip and stopped at Sage’s for some Vegan fare. I’m new to veganism so it was a tad overwhelming at first. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. I settled on the tostados and wow what a treat! Highly recommend this place if you pass through SLC!

Always great service and wonderful food! The seasonal specials are always a great bet and the weekend brunches are amazing. I appreciate the«small plates» options because then I can indulge in an appetizer(the cheese fries are to DIE for) and still enjoy my entrée. I haven’t tried everything yet, but given enough time I’m confident that it’s a realistic goal! The Machu Picchu is a favorite as is the Seared Portabella and Brown Rice Risotto. Brunch«mouth orgasm» inducing entrees include: Ian’s Favorite Breakfast and The Mountain. I take home nut burgers(uncooked) so I can enjoy them during the week because I can’t duplicate their deliciousness(and I have TRIED)!!

I can’t stop thinking about this meal. I am from Phoenix and we stopped in after running the Cottonwood marathon. The food was so incredible I had that thing where instead of enjoying every bite I mourned it because I was that much closer to no more bites! I kept thinking how can I eat this every day? So very delicious. The vegan sausage? Stop it! So very yummy.

I went through a vegan phase in high school but I stopped when I realized I could quit meat but I could not, for the life of me, quit butter. So when my friend chose Sage’s as our dinner-date choice I was a little bit hesitant and a lot skeptical. After I perused their menu I decided to up the ante and order their small plate of Alfredo pasta. And while it wasn’t buttery, it was a really great plate of Alfredo! It has a slight tarty taste to it but as I kept eating I could taste the creamy garlic-yness and it began to feel just as comforting as a the non-vegan version of Alfredo. I also give it bonus points for knowing it was probably healthier too. It came with a side salad and a garlic bread. The garlic bread also made me feel healthy since it was about the size of an oreo but I was told that the dinner/full sized plate comes with two of the little garlic breads. Sage’s definitely turned this skeptic into a believer.

Great vegetarian food. The inside of this restaurant is hot in the summer. I don’t know if the AC is out or what but it is quite warm in July. Great service though.

In SLC for just a few days. Came here on a recommendation from a server at a swanky restaurant that we left for lack of non-meat choices. This place is amazing. The food is fantastic and the service is perfect. Highly recommend the raw food Pad Thai and the Stroganoff. But everything we tried was simply delicious! Came twice so far and trying to squeeze in one more before we leave. Great food, great service, you won’t be disappointed.

ALLYOUCANEATGOURMETVEGANPIZZAONTUESDAY. Seriously the best deal ever. Slices are small so you get to sample all of the kinds of AMAZING creations they come up with. You also get a big fresh bowl of greens to go with it, because balance, right? Plus it’s not super unhealthy anyway because all of the ingredients are fresh, local, mostly organic whole plant foods. No prepackaged anything, their supplier(same owners) makes almost everything from scratch. Everything here is quality, and you can really taste the love and effort put into this food, making it a great place to take non-vegans and vegan alike for a great brunch, lunch or dinner. Also worth mentioning, service is always great here and desserts are on point. Try the carrot cake or the Tiramisu if they’ve got it! You won’t be dissapointed!

I visited Sage’s Café for dinner during a trip to Salt Lake City to visit family. I learned about Sage’s through a Google search, Happy Cow, and a recommendation from my sister-in-law. My husband and I are dedicated ethical vegans, and our two children are vegetarians. I was delighted by the size of the menu and the absence of processed faux meat products. I ordered a delicious guacamole burger, and one of my kids had peanut butter and jelly from the kids’ menu(which was actually almond butter, and was on a french roll — a little odd). My other son had the noodles and house-made cheese sauce from the kids’ menu, which was quite good and not heavy on the nutritional yeast(like a lot of faux cheeses). We ordered a big plate of fries to share, and it came with a delicious vegan-mayo dipping sauce. The service was good, the food was tasty and satisfying, the restaurant was clean, and the ambience was pleasant. I understand that Sage’s is owned by the same company that owns Vertical Diner, which I was not a fan of. I will definitely be returning to Sage’s — no comparison at all to Vertical Diner!

Unexpectedly, I ended up back in Salt Lake City early enough for my flight that I was able to enjoy dinner in the city. So, not having done much research on places to go for dinner, I chose Sage’s Café because it was all-vegan and had been there for a long time. Both are pluses in my mind! We drove through Salt Lake City to a dodgy part of town known as the Central 9th Business District until we stumbled across this stand-alone restaurant. It is quite large and located in a little green house once known as the original Jade Room though I’m not quite sure what that was. It looked more like a diner inside with old-fashioned black vinyl booths and a bar with diner-style stools. The décor was otherwise quite plain. The server immediately brought us some lukewarm water sans the ice cubes. I was not in the mood for an alcoholic drink so instead I ordered the housemade hibiscus soda. I found it to be very tart so the agave nectar they gave me on the side helped. The menu is very extensive with small plates, salads, raw foods, sandwiches, pastas, entrees, and desserts. We started with a couple of appetizers. I went with the Mushroom Escargot, which was made of thinly sliced, roasted shiitake mushrooms simmered in herbs, red wine, and balsamic vinegar. When combined with the carrot butter pâté on the French bread crostini, this dish was excellent. Warm roasted mushrooms with a hearty carrot pâté on fresh bread is a great way to start a meal. We also ordered the Pesto Bruschetta. Another great 7 grain bread topped with basil walnut pesto, tomatoes, rice mozzarella, and almond parmesan. I loved this appetizer. For my entrée, I ordered the Nut Burger made of cashews, almonds, and garbanzo beans. Perhaps I wasn’t prepared for how big this burger was, but it was too much for me to eat. The 7 grain roll had an avocado spread on it that had very little taste as did the burger. The bread was way too thick and the burger was way too plain. All in all, I gave this one a thumbs down. The salad was just lettuce and carrots with a runny tahini dressing so nothing special here either. My friend got the Mushroom Stroganoff with linguini noodles. While the pasta was tasty, the name was deceiving as we were expecting a thick stroganoff-like sauce. Instead, there was a thin sauce with lots of mushrooms and a lemon aftertaste. It was good, but not what we were expecting. So, all in all, I would say this restaurant is probably hit or miss depending upon what you order. Our appetizers were really good. The entrees not so much. And the drink wasn’t that flavorful either. The prices are pretty cheap with my burger only being $ 7 and the pasta only $ 8. The service wasn’t that great either. If you are going to only be in SLC for a day, this isn’t the restaurant I’d recommend you go to, but if you are there for a week, definitely check it out. The menu is extensive and other items are likely to be better than the entrees we ordered.

This review is mainly for the vegan pizza buffet on Tuesday because it’s AWESOMMME The vegan pizzas are amazing and this is coming from a non-vegan. The chef just makes them in the back on a whim and sends them out. My favorite was the one with the root veggies and nutritional cheeze sauce. My friend ordered something off the menu– believe it was the polenta and it looked amazing! It came with this rice milk mozzarella which looked more like a gravy but it was amazing. I used it to dip my crust in. I think the winner was also the peanut butter brownie sundae. I am a connoisseur of dessert and I felt like this didn’t taste vegan at all. It was super moist and flavorful and just a party in my mouth!
