So. I had to go to Utah for a business trip and wanted to experience the gay seen. Well I must say it was great. the bartender Andrew was awesome. First night he was very friendly and fun. Second night was a Christmas drag Queen show that was wonderful… enjoyed the night. People have said that guys like me(balck and Rican) would not be welcomed. well I beg to differ… everyone was wonderful thanks Utah. Andrew thanks gain for making my friend welcome.

Kind of where people go to die, very depressing and dirty.

It was okay not what I have expected but i enjoyed it because of whom I went with. I doubt I would be returning to this club. The bartenders were extremely nice which is why I have given this place 3 stars

My wife and I recently came here for a friends 21st birthday. While I have grown out of the club scene quite a bit in the last few years, I rather enjoyed myself. Everyone was super nice, the service and prices were good and we had a fun time.

A friendly bar for regulars and first timers. Such a difference from another bar I just left(which will remain unnamed but just up the street) that I had to write this review while still here. The bartender is very friendly. He is cheerful and wants to ensure everyone at his bar is having a good time. I will certainly be back and recommend anyone in the area to stop by and enjoy a drink in a friendly, unpretentious environment.

I have been giving patronage to Club Try-Angles since 2006, and I would have to say that this is my favorite gay bar in Salt Lake City. Yes, it may be a little bit of a dive bar, but that only adds to its charm. The patrons for the most part are down to earth and polite with a mixed crowd of older to younger, twink to bear, vanilla to full on leather fetishist. There really is a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy! Along with it being a full service bar, Try-Angles includes a small dance floor, two pool tables, a dart board, a jukebox, and an arcade center. As well as having flat screen televisions placed throughout the bar. Not only does Club Try-Angles serve the cheapest beer in town(a big stein of beer will cost you $ 5.00), but the staff is incredibly friendly, and if you visit during the late afternoon when the bar is not terribly busy they are more than happy to strike up a conversation with the patrons. I can’t recommend this establishment enough, and it is always my first suggestion for folks who are new to town looking to find a neighborhood gay bar that they can call home. From Friday to about Sunday, the bar does get quite busy. This is more especially true when there is a special event going on(i.e. underwear night, and fetish night). The music does get loud and is a little dated as the DJ seems to have a predilection for club anthems of the early 2000s. With that being said, the DJ does mix in quite a bit of newer top 40 hits, and dance club anthems. I can’t help but feel that this only adds more to the charm. If you are looking for a local neighborhood gay bar that is without the douche factor, pretentiousness, and outright catty cruelty, that easily becomes the hallmark of your run-of-the-mill gay bar, then Try-Angles is certainly the place for you. Oh, did I mention there is an after hours restaurant opened on the weekends after the bar closes? Be sure to visit Off-Trax to satisfy your drunk munchies!

A fantastic place for locals to hang and play pool. If just visiting, feel free to chat someone up, don’t just sit in the corner.

This bar is supposedly the best gay bar in SLC, which, if true, is a sad state of affairs for SLC! the bar is ok, the service was terrible, and there were only about 40 people there by 11:30 on a Friday night. Needless to say, if you want a boring night out on a Friday, come here! I’m now in my hotel room eating leftovers because that’s more exciting than the gay night life in SLC on a Friday lol

Gene and his team give back to the community until it hurts. Fun, attitude-free crowd, BBQs in the summer, underwear nights the 3rd Saturday, gear nights the first Friday. Best prices in Salt Lake. Pay less, get more. Love it.

I loved this bar. Our bartender was fantastic, we didn’t know what we wanted and he helped us figure it out with zero scorn(which is sadly, pretty common amongst bartenders) and the drinks were HUGE! The mixed coctails were all served in enormous beer steins! The bar area is separate from the dance floor, you can still definitely hear the music but it’s not as loud — it’s nice for conversation, you still have to raise your voice to be heard but you don’t need to shout. The outside is a little off-putting — it looks like kind of a shit hole and the parking lot could be better but don’t be sacred, it’s great inside.

This was my first experience filling out paperwork just to enter a bar before! For some reason, my out-of-town i.d. didn’t work in their scanner.(It works in other scanners all the time.) So I had to fill out some paperwork and sign it. Ok… Its not like I’m 22 or even 29, but ok. The space was decent, the drinks nice(for 1-oz liquor pours). Beer is served in massive glass mugs which require a strong wrist to hold. If you want a drink before last call, be sure to give them a few minutes notice. Their 9-volt battery-powered analog clock seems to be set a few minutes ahead of iPhone/cel phone/digital watch time and they won’t serve you at 12:56 am. Kind of an all-around-old-school-bar vibe. But a solid place if that’s what you’re into and seems to be popular with the locals.

I enjoy Club Try Angles becuase the owner, bartenders and majority of the crowd are very friendly and fun to be around. The bar is not very big but the drinks are well priced and great sized. The dance floor is fun although the music tends to be repetitive each week. Could use a little bit more in the mix. There is a great patio and the crowed is diverse in men and women. Its definitely a place where you can be yourself.

This past New Years, my plans got ruined. So in the face of doing nothing I decided to hang out and be social. I went to Try-Angles as a last resort and ended up having a great time! I was able to talk with a lot of people, flirt via the TV, and drink a great huge beer for $ 4.00! This club was a blast, and seems to have a good crowd of people who let you just be yourself! I personally am looking forward to go back there over some of the other gay friendly venues here in Salt Lake.

So, I have been here 2 times. Once on a Friday night to meet some friends for drinks, it didn’t get very crowded. The same weekend I met up with a friend for a beer before flying home. We had a nice chat on the patio during the beer bust. Wasn’t very busy then either. I do like the layout of the place. A dance floor, a bar area and room to sit inside or out. I am going back to UT this weekend and will report again. I have heard from local friends that this place is fun and does get busy. I just have experienced that yet.
