We had a great time! It’s been a while that I have not played. So happy they have this in salt lake.

Rosa Parks would be proud of this Salt Lake City Municipal Golf Course that shares her name. I played this course the last time I visited SLC about four or five years back. All I remembered is that I had a good time playing alongside the guys the course paired with me. After teeing off and playing a couple holes I realized I really like this course that is why I had enjoyed playing here almost five years ago. The course is in really good condition. The course maintenance crew does a great job. From tee to green the course is in great condition. The fairways are like playing on carpets. The greens are nice too. Rosa Parks is unlike any course I play in the Mid Atlantic. It is relatively flat with small elevated greens surrounded by bunkers. There are very few trees and hazards on the course. The Utah elevation impacts your club selection up to two clubs. I remember my first experience here 5 years ago on the first tee when I pulled a 7 iron and hit the ball clearly out of the course into the parking lot. I did not make that mistake this time. But, the 2nd hole par 5 had me sticking out my chest with my first 300 plus yard drive followed by a 200 plus yard 6 irons on in two putting for eagle! The biggest challenge on the course is hole 10. There are also a couple of long par 3 on the back which have you aiming for small elevated greens some 190 plus yards out. I have to say I really enjoyed playing Rosa Parks Golf Course and I plan to play it whenever I am back in the Salt Lake City area!

Awe the beautiful and well aged Rose Park Golf course. It’s close to home and I’ve grown up playing here. It is a beautiful course, quiet(except for the 2nd and 3rd hole) and full of nature. Often you will see wildlife scamper across the course no matter the time of day. Now there are those that are a little worried about this side of town, but lets be real, you’re going golfing, not on an gang infested g-ride. Rose park golf course is well maintained, well ran, and an overall great course. Now they are a little lax on the dress code, and it does seem that anything goes as far as the folk you MAY see here but I’ve been to some great courses in nice areas and run across these riff raff no matter what. The prices are great, and they run specials often, you have to be signed up on e-mail, or facebook for them. The clubhouse is well kept, and the café is fairly priced for a golf course. The food is on par(pardon the pun) and the staff is friendly and easy to get along with(not always the case if you’re not the house pro). All in all Rose Park Golf Course holds a special place in my heart and I would encourage you to give it a go. P. S. there’s usually an owl perched in the tall tree’s off the fairway of hole #8, if it’s later in the evening you can see him hunting for a quick snack, and usually hear him hoot!

I’ve been golfing at Rose Park for many years now and have probably played this course 20 times or so. But I’m still torn as to how many stars to give it. Rose Park is like a roller coaster of emotions. It’s up. It’s down. It’s up and down at the same time. It’s full of contradictions. When I call to reserve a tee time, they send me e-mail confirmation. Very cool, right? But in the e-mail is specifically states: «Dress Code: Collared shirts not required. T-shirts are allowed. Denim jeans and cutoffs are allowed.» Is that really necessary? I can understand not kicking people out for looking like crap, but do you have to actually invite slovenliness? I once saw«Raider Fan» hacking away on #5 and his shirt had giant block letters that spelled out«F%&k Raider Haters.» The clubhouse and café are quite nice, with a decent selection and fair prices and good sale prices. But then there are bars on all the doors and windows, which really reminds you what part of town this is. Kinda depressing. The course itself is pretty cool. I played here last weekend and they have made some fantastic modifications! The power lines have been taken out of play on the #16 tee shot, which is great! They lengthened what used to be a really long par 4 and now it’s a reasonable par 5. The maintenance crew keeps the fairways and greens in good shape, but unfortunately the patrons don’t. You’ll find dozens of unrepaired divots on every green and gashes in the fairways. There are often sunflower seed shells strewn about the putting surface and the occasional pile of tobacco spit. I think their motto might be «Stay Classy Rose Park.» They put out some great specials at Rose Park all year. $ 25 for 18 holes with a cart and things like that. Just watch for them in e-mail and on Facebook. I guess I’ll stick with 3 stars, as the staff and grounds crew do everything they can to keep this track in tip top shape. It’s too bad that many of the golfers who frequent this place don’t take a little more pride in… well… everything.
