So frustrating! Everytime I go in they are out of bread. So I call to reserve some bread and I explain the loaf I want and who ever answered the phone, lists off a bunch of stuff I did not discribe. This is for sure no longer worth my effort. Going to anothwr bakery from now on.

I love the breakfast pastries and cakes. This place has a good vibe and great staff. I would definitely go here again.

I have to agree with a previous poster that the kid with the red hair working the counter is quite possibly the most rude person I have ever encountered. He was yelling at customers at 6:00 on a Friday, saying that they were too stupid to read the little paper sign that the store had changed its hours and now closed at 6. The door and the website still say that the store closes at 7. I was shocked at his treatment of customers. This kid should not be working there.

Gave this place a shot for the first time, and wasn’t really impressed with the menu options. The person at the counter seems very new and although she was nice she wasn’t aware that they had coke products. I got the Italian sandwich and it was pretty tasty, although not super filling. If you come here just be ready to wait a while for your food so come with time. Probably won’t be coming back.

Came here with work friends. Got the turkey pesto. It was good but i can’t say I loved paying 7.25 for just the sandwich. I asked the guy which sandwich was best and he said the vegetarian because he’s vegetarian… Well then tell me which sandwich is popular! The food was good but it came out incredibly slow and the staff wasn’t very organized. The deserts looked good but I didn’t want to go through the ordering process again to get one…

Pierre’s bakery is truly one of salt lake cities best kept secrets hands down. they are family owned. they are a near miss you would not notice them from 3300 street. they are tucked far back into the plaza in between the flower shop and the liquor store. The guy who owns and runs pierres is a true frenchman and he is a marvel at what he knows and what he can do with pastries and main entrees. His«cake“lady is an incredible baker and cake artist. The café is very homey and can get very crowded very quickly on weekends especially during lunch and holidays. Be aware if they seem a little rushed the cashiers and front counter may be trying to fill a online order or wholesale order so be patient with them if they seem busy So whats good on the menu is the american crêpe is out of this world for a main entrée but oh you haven’t lived until you’ve tried this really lemon chicken rice soup it has a french name that i can’t begin to try and pronounce. Their peanut butter short bread cookie will make you cry its that good. Runners up are the bretone crêpe with its ham and swiss and provolone the vegetarian«croak» and you literally can’t go wrong with any of the desserts but my favorite is the peppermint brownie.

Yum. Yum. Yum. Seriously. My husband took me there for breakfast because he knows how much I love pastries and bread and bakeries… it was worth it. The fruit tarts are fabulous. The restaurant is clean, cozy and the staff was very nice and helpful with suggestions.

Great bakery and they also have wonderful sandwiches. It is a great place to get birthday cakes or things for other occasions. Everyone has always been very nice and helpful in picking out the right things.

I was on my way to the liquor store on 3300 S when I was distracted by a bright, shiny object called the French Bakery. As others have mentioned, it’s easy to miss because it’s in the corner of a strip mall(between PetSmart and the Liquor Store). The ambience could use a little help. The pastry cases and bread display would be much more enticing with better lighting and a modernization of the bakery’s interior. I didn’t want to stay and linger over pastry and coffee. Instead, I got my baked goods«to go.» I bought a Rocky Mountain sourdough loaf, a lemon meringue tart, and standard bread pudding. The lemon meringue tart was the best lemon meringue *anything* I have ever eaten. The lemon filling was perfectly lemony, the meringue topping was melt-in-your-mouth silky, and the tart shell was crunchy and well-sized. Oh my! It was so good that I told my lemon-meringue-pie-loving brother about it and said«we have to go to this bakery!» The bread pudding was also very good although the caramel topping that they provided was too sweet and not really suitable for bread pudding. The sourdough loaf was crunchy outside, soft inside, and pretty nearly perfect. I highly recommend this bakery and I plan on returning to buy more pastries, especially if they’re anything like the first two I bought.

Purchased a few items from this bakery at the Farmers Market, everything was terrible!!! All items tasted very old with no flavor. Will not go back.

Still holding strong at 4. I really like the somewhat recently revamped display cases, which is a lot more real estate, nearly all of it filled with delectable goodies. They’ve also added an organic salad bar and sell their own bagged coffee ground as well. My wife has long been a fan of their coffee, so if you like coffee, you could do worse than to try it, I think. One caveat is that they still seem to be struggling with appropriate staff scheduling, so if you catch them at one of those times when they are understaffed, be prepared to wait. They do try really hard to get caught up(and the staff are all incredibly nice) and it’salways worth it. This is one of the very few places for which I have a soft spot and every visit(way more than I’ve updated here) serves mainly to reinforce that.

To paraphrase the Oracle from The Matrix«I hate giving good people bad reviews». However much I want to like this place and the nice people who work there, as a business they have a lot room to improve. The baked goods are good including the cookies, croissants, bear claws and breads. That’s where the goodness ends though. The service although friendly is so slow it borders on incompetence. The employees cannot make a good latte if their life depended on it — I’ve given them several chances and the last cup was room temperature. The crepes are mediocre at best and quite possibly the slowest crepery on the planet. This results in your crêpe coming out hard and crispy. I’m sorry to say I just cannot bring myself to going back. Ever.

I’ve been here a few times and decided it’s time to give them the credit they deserve. Although tucked away in a strip mall — this place is a diamond in the rough. Their veggie sandwich, chocolate croissant, and sun dried tomato quiche are worth every penny!

This place was good for a quick snack while we were in the area. I had the mushroom, spinach quiche($ 4.25/slice, ok but pretty small) and bf had the italian sandwich($ 7.95, loaded up with meat, yummy bread). Would have loved to try something sweet, it all looked so good. One suggestion for the establishment: put on some light music. The place is dead silent and quite echoey. We found ourselves whispering without even thinking about it bc it was so quiet.

Fantastic choices for all types of breads, pastries, cookies, even take away meals… and the best bread pudding! They even have different types of bread pudding.

New Favorite! The pastry and cake options look so good! We opted for the Fruit and Chantilly Crêpe and a savory crêpe with scrambled eggs and red peppers. Beyond delicious! Really friendly staff, great view of Mount Olympus, quiet atmosphere, and free wifi. So excited to live next to such a great local place!!!

I have given this bakery several chances and have been disappointed every time. The pastries and desserts taste either like freezer burn or old. The lady at the counter was extremely rude to my family and me when we stopped in to grab dessert 20 minutes before their closing time… To go, mind you. While we live in the area, we visit Gourmandise instead even though we have to travel a bit further.

This is a great place for a good cup of coffee and a ham and swiss croissant. The crepes also are pretty tasty, if a bit odd vis a vis the combination of ingredients. The staff are friendly and the view of the mountains from the dining area is spectacular. Yes, it could use a little freshening inside, but the food is the deal here, not the décor. Take it for what it is — and the best ham and swiss croissant in town.

First visit: 03/17/2012 Ambience: B– When I walked into the café, my first impression was, «This place reminds me of the 90s,» back when Leatherby’s was the new ‘thing’ and the Olive Garden was the newest pre-High School Prom dinner option. Food: B+ Delicious baguettes, a decent pain au chocolat, a very good pecan roll, and a less than decent tiramisu. The tiramisu did not taste like tiramisu. It tasted like a sweet pound cake with a hint of vanilla. That said, it was delicious, but not Tiramisu. Service: B+ Was served by an attentive and knowledgeable Asian lady. Ok, she was Japanese. She knew my parents when they were mission presidents in Kobe, Japan. Small world. One of the POS computers was down, so there was a little back-up, but she did her best to get everything ready when the working POS freed up. Overall: B I think what this café has going for it is, reliability. Even when something doesn’t quite meet your expectation in one way, it will in another. For instance, I thought the layout in their pastry case was really confusing and odd. But, it didn’t make the pastry taste bad, and I was still able to find what I wanted. My suggestion to PCBC: Update the look of the café, update your POS system, and rearrange the layout of the pastry cases.
