Very cool place downtown to get a drink. Atmosphere is super chill, with a friendly staff. Decent selection of booze and beer with a funky divey vibe.

Friendly staff, great beer selection. Bangers and mash was great, just the right portion. And of course there is Guinness on draft. Stop in, nice atmosphere for sure!

I work very close by to Murphys and go there frequently because it’s sheer proximity. I will tell you as far as bar fare goes, the food is pretty damn good, some of it’s a little pricier than I would like, but we have to remember it’s also downtown. I very much like the staff that works there but I will tell you one thing that drives me absolutely nuts about this place: you can’t order pitchers of beer! I know right?! I’m not quite sure why you can’t but it doesn’t seem right that I can’t order a pitcher of beer in a bar even in Salt Lake City. That’s really the only thing that keeps this place from getting 4 stars from me, & I rarely give out 5

You go down a few steps to enter this Irish pub. It’s long and narrow with a bar on one side and seating on the other. They don’t have a huge selection of beer on draft so I would have to order bottled beer. A typical Irish pub and not very fancy but had a good feel.

Nice old fashioned Irish joint, no frills, just drinks. Nice bartenders that keep em’ comin and always an interesting local barfly to hang with for a bit of local history. My new place for a pint when I am downtown, Aloha

This place all of five stars. It’s a killer awesome dive bar and I do love a dive bars. It doesn’t appear that it’s been updated since the mid 70s which only adds to is awesomeness. I ate a delicious burger and perfectly cooked fries all whilst sitting in a metallicly harvest gold booth watching football on the projection TV. This place is my new favorite bar in SLC and I will be back!

We had driven 3 hours to SLC for a concert, and planned to stop by Seigfried’s Deli. They were closed so we walked around the corner and saw this place. It is dark inside, but plenty of room! The tables are not crowded together which I appreciate. I ordered a turkey avocado sandwich with fries and was very satisfied. A little too much lettuce but a lot of avocado! Yum! And the fries were the perfect thickness. My fiancé had the Cuban and he enjoyed it. I had a bite and it was good! We had a chocolate cake shot and it took three gulps to finish it. They definitely didn’t skimp on the drink! I would eat here again!

The beer lines here are cleaned every other Monday, for the last 16 years. Murphy’s prides themselves on cleanliness. There has been 1 complaint(7 days ago) in the history of Murphy’s.

A little dingy and kind of stuffy in this slightly underground bar, but they’ve got a mini patio set up if you need a breather. This Irish pub is always a good time after an Irish car bomb or two since it’s always like St. Patty’s day here. If you’re lucky, you might even hear some bag pipes.

I’m always a little confused about how to rate dive bars. As far as dive bars in SLC go, I think it should have one star less than most so I give it a 3. I have always had good bar service here but the place is always a little dirty. There are often cups all over the place & it’s difficult to find a clean seat sometimes. It’s in a great location right on main street though so if you want a few mixed drinks after a few local beers, it’s easy to get here.

Step down into Murphys for the classic old Irish pub experience. Nothing fancy going on here, but that is why you want to stop in. Far fewer beer selections than up the street at Beer Hive, but the prices are also cheaper. It seems to mostly be full of locals sharing a pint and conversation. Bartenders are nice. They have a shuffleboard table but it was covered up the night I was there. Not sure if anyone plays it much. While sitting at this bar(underground) it makes me wonder if this place was one of the original drinking club establishments that you had to have a membership at before Utah laws changed.

Came with some friends for drinks. Super low key bar which i thought was fun. Nothing very wow about it but the bar tender was fun and we had a good time. would like to come back for food sometime.

A nice little slice of bar life in downtown. I’m a sucker for any bar that’s even slightly underground, and this place fits the bill. It’s a dive bar, but the food is good(wings were quite tasty), the setup is comfortable(the long and narrow room is reminiscent of Chicago bars), and the service is outstanding. Our bartender, Jason, was totally on-point with beer suggestions and some friendly, but not-too-friendly(as is often a problem in Utah), conversation.
