Went here on a recommendation, not because of Unilocal reviews. The chips and salsa to start off were good having some nice warm chips to munch on while waiting for the rest of the food to come out. The $ 2 margarita was pretty good too. I ordered a seafood cocktail which was below average with hardly any seafood ingredients. The entrée I chose was Chicken Fajitas. The meat was flavorless and the plate didn’t come out sizzling like usual. After I finished the small amount of chicken, I was left with an entire plateful of green peppers & onions which made up three quarters of the order. The chicken nuggets for my child were not so hot either. The cheese enchiladas were enjoyed by my other child so not a complete miss here. Overall I would choose not to return here.

Buffet was delicious just how I remembered it, when it was located on 9400 South state back in the day. The spice level has gone up a few notices where I was burning up. LOL The horchata was so creamy and awesome. Loved the selection of everything and the quality ingredients. Service wasn’t so great we only saw our server when we were sat down and never saw him again and just ended up paying up front. That is why I gave them 3 instead of 4 stars.

The vegan menu here is delicious! I had the enchiladas primavera and they had such a great flavor. Even my meat eating man loved the vegan dishes here.

I’m Mexican and I have to say, the vegan food they serve here reminds me of my mom’s cooking. The food is very authentic, the music is actually Mexican and the design of the restaurant is what a Mexican restaurant should look like. You can ask for spicy salsa and it will actually be spicy and authentic. Overall, the food is very delicious. I’ve only had there vegan bar, I haven’t had the food with meat. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, I highly recommend this restaurant.

I’ve always loved this place, but my last experience wasn’t that great. I’ve been a long time customer of all three locations in Utah and have preferred the one here on State Street. Their dollar margaritas are a fun, obviously cheap drink to start off the meal. I always get the chicken molé enchiladas dish and it’s typically an 8⁄10. But I happened to go two nights in a row and found a HUGE variance in the quality of the dish. The first night it was a typical good meal, the second night the chicken was extremely dry and the dry corn tortillas combined for a very unpleasant experience. My friend bought their large $ 12 margarita which was also a terrible choice. I’ll stay a customer of this place, but my meals there won’t be as frequent as they have been.

I loved this place! Everyone was friendl and had great customer service, gave us plenty of food and it all tasted great! Only negative I could think of was I did not like their bathroom. It was clean for the most part but needs some repair and updated.

Try the Sunday brunch. It’s seriously amazing. I can’t say enough good things about their food! It’s definitely authentic — offering dishes like mole, Rajas con crema, and birria. The service was great as well. I only wish they offered the buffet every day!

Came in during lunch from out of town for business craving Mexican food. At first I really was happy with this place seated and given my drink right away. The server was terrible. He thought I ordered something different and I had to tell him what I ordered, then he brought me what he «thought» I ordered and said that’s not mine. He says your right it’s ready. Brings me my tostada with chicken not beef!!! Argghhh not enough time to fix. Will not be revisiting on my next visit to SLC

After many more visits to the«new» location, here’s a long-overdue update. The place is solid. They have $ 1 margaritas, which aren’t half bad. They also have excellent chips and salsa. The food here is always hot and fresh, and is pretty authentic Mexi-cuisine. They have a large menu and the prices are very low, especially when coupled with the many coupons that are available. The service is always prompt and friendly. Need some Mexican food? Go here.

This place is great for some really tasty food while in south salt lake. My wife and I bring the kids here and we all enjoy it. The staff is super friendly and the food is a nice change of pace as far as Mexican food goes here in Salt Lake. Don’t forget the cheap margaritas!

$ 2 Margaritas. Need I say more? The Chili Verde burrito lunch special is super yummy. I recently tried something different, the Sour Cream Enchilada. I was thinking that they made some kind of sauce using a sour cream base. It literally was cheese and sour cream stuffed into a tortilla, then smothered with sour cream. Not the best to be honest. Everything else I’ve tried was awesome. Their chips and salsa and frigging killer.

If Unilocal has done one thing repeatedly, it has shown me the wisdom of Billy Joel, specifically when he sang, «the more I find out, the less that I know». So, while I’m not writing this review to tell you to embrace truth wherever you find it, even in the lyrics of a pop singer(you should already know to embrace truth, regardless of source), but rather to alert you that when it comes to food in the valley, you might guess, but you never really know from appearances alone. Take Mexican-style food in general in the valley. Overall, it blows, to the point where I rarely, if ever, go out to Mexican-style restaurants, if I can conceivably avoid it. It was the same problem formerly with Chinese places, in that everything is so heavily Americanized(mostly resulting in blandness) as to make it not worth eating. I’ve seen a few pop up on the horizon, but have not really pursued them, both because of location and convenience, but mostly because I’m so unbelievably tired of being disappointed at their hands and tables. So we have this place, which I’ve driven by probably nearly a couple hundred times in the last couple of years. With unfortunate signage, I don’t always notice it, but when I have, given it’s right after La Puente, I just kind of lump them in together and keep on trucking. This is my loss and my stupidity, to be absolutely clear. This place served to me some of the finest Mexican food I’ve had anywhere. I wasn’t hugely in love with the Chile Relleno, which I use as my Mexican litmus test as I find this particular dish tends to challenge most Mexican places considerably, as it did here, but the beans and rice were excellent and flavorful. The chips and salsa were very fresh-tasting as well, something of a novelty at these places. The iced tea was just sort of there, but nothing too offensive. I also had the Poblano Enchilada with Chicken, which was really quite good. Had it been sauced less, it would have been fantastic. Décor here is also wonderful, from the sort of classic«adobe-look» of the arched entrances to the hallway around the building to the wonderful interior. This place is huge and clean and almost makes me wish I could have a Quinceañera, just so I could have it here. I really vastly enjoyed spending my time here and the service was exemplary. I’ve finally found not only a good Mexican lunch spot, but an excellent Mexican restaurant in the valley.

I like this spot, I always order the«Combination Guadalajara» because being the indecisive SOB that I am I don’t have to look at the large menu of choices. This just gives you a bit of everything — and they have bacon so you can have them add bacon to anything… And quiet frankly it does enhance the flavor. And to be completely honest this KSL article is why I went there in the first place. I don’t know, maybe I’m broken but I always enjoy the misfits.

I haven’t made a stop to this place in a long time. I loved going to their previous location not too from the new place. I am happy that I decided to give it a whirl again. The food was cooked perfectly and I especially loved the chips and salsa. Very nice flavor and warm chips. But the big sell to me was the $ 2 margaritas. You just can’t beat that! I will be back for another round soon.

This place is just meh. It’s not awful but it’s not great either. As most Mexican places, they start you off with chips and salsa. The salsa had okay flavor but it was really watery. They have two dollar margaritas which sound enticing until they come out in tiny glasses and you realize it’s watered down sweet and sour mix. My friend and I have been on a queso kick and I’ve always enjoyed fundido so I was happy to see it on the menu. When it came out, I was very, very confused. First of all, it came out on a plate. Secondly, um, it was just melted white cheese. It didn’t taste bad or anything but it was literally just melted cheese on a plate. For $ 8. What? I could buy a bag of cheese for $ 3 and do the same thing in my microwave. I had the mole enchiladas and they weren’t bad at all. Prices are a bit high but portions are big. Mostly I just can’t get over the shredded cheese on a plate for $ 8 so I’m not sure I’ll go back.

Mi Ranchito has fallen in the same trap that most restaurants do when they move location, it got worse. This is my second time at the new location and it’s still the same meh. The staff is friendly enough and helpful. The $ 1 margarita was surprisingly a decent size but was a bit weak. But hey, it’s a buck. The chips were ok and nicely salted. The salsa was very watered down, kinda like pace picante but with water added. Because I couldn’t decide, I ordered the Pancho Villa which consisted of: 2 taco cart styled tacos — carnitas & asada, both just with a bit of flavor Chile Relleno — Soggy since the entire plate was essentially somothered but looking at the batter, it still didn’t seem too crisp. Lacked any spice or stuffed cheese. Chiie Verde Burrito — Perhaps the savior of this plate. It was actually spicy. Also on the plate were beans and rice — both very watered down and mushy. Churro Dessert — One of the most visually appealing way I’ve seen a churro presented. However there’s nothing special that one of those baby sized burrito mexican places can’t provide for a lot cheaper. Oh yeah, the portions here are huge! The fajita salad was served on a fried tortilla the size of the plate.
