So this is an update to the tip I left on April 172015 which read: «Incredibly rude staff. Photo manager [camera bar] lady literally could not spare 2 minutes to sell a camera to help SLC School kids with a national science experiment. Wait for the full review after the manager is spoken to on Monday. TOTALFAIL» Now, here is the rest of the story. I had my male friend talk to the manager(with me on speaker phone– better results are often had when a man talks to another man… stupid but that is the reality of the world– see my review for Mark Miller Toyota downtown SLC for examples). So the manager came across as very manipulate and angry saying he would absolutely fire the lady at the camera bar, I believe in an attempt to have us back off but instead we said that was his decision but we thought retraining in customer service may be in order(you know, actually be polite and not hang up on customers with no explanation) and this just made him more mad. I really think he was trying to bluff the situation, he made no apology for the behavior of his staff, and was also generally rude. So, two experiences with now very rude staff(including the manager) who really do not seem to have any interest in the community at large and certainly not the science education of underprivileged kids. Their loss, they certainly missed out on some good publicity. Also, I have shopped(or browsed, really) at this store many times before(including way back when when half of the store was a boat show room — really!) and I do find the prices to be more expensive than most other places. My recommendation is to go to Pictureline– very nice and knowledgeable staff and better prices.

A few days ago i bought a Polariod Pogo Zink printer. It was a bit of an impulse buy but since it was only $ 39.95 I thought I’d give it a try. I took it home and plugged it in to charge the rechargeable /replaceable battery and started printing a few images from my cell phone. The prints aren’t great, they have a narrow dynamic range but for quick snapshots they’re fun. Anyway, a day or two later I picked it up to play with it some more and this time I tried printing from the battery. As soon as I powered it on, the indicators showed that the battery was dead. I recharged it for a while and then as soon as I unplugged it from the wall charger, again, the lights indicated that the battery was dead. So, the battery is bad. I took the battery and the receipt back to Inkleys and explained that they’d sold me a bad battery and asked what they could do to fix the problem. The manager explained that they don’t carry batteries and that I’d need to contact Polaroid for service. He gave me their number. That was the best they could do.(Really?) I called Polaroid and they told me that the device was discontinued three years ago(Inkleys hadn’t mentioned that when I bought it) and that they no longer supported them or had replacement parts. He suggested that I search the Internet to find and purchase a replacement battery. I’ve now searched several times and I still haven’t been able to find anywhere I can purchase a replacement. I decided to return the device and get a refund. I took the device, power cord, etc along with the receipt back to the store and explained that the printer was defective since the battery was shot and asked for a refund. The manager told me that he couldn’t take the printer back because I didn’t have the box it came in. So, Inkleys sold me a discontinued, defective printer and refused to refund my money because I didn’t have a piece of cardboard. For $ 39.95 Inkleys has lost my business, forever. Was it worth it Inkleys?

Knowledgable, helpful, friendly staff. Similar prices to other stores. But the personal interaction makes it worth giving them your business. Will defiantly return.

First I came to the store with a friend nothing for me. I was gonna buy a camera but definately not there! We needed to speak to the manager… Mike who mind you was the worst manager I have ever dealt with… and I didnt deal with him! He started to throw a fit slamming cupboards and talking crap to another employee! Kept getting faulty equipment that would stop working after 1 or 2 months. He threw out accusations that my friend beats up his equipment! He uses that crap oce of twice a month for certain shoots! I am for surely telling people to go else where! Again I had nothing to do with this but just go in with my friend and all I can say is wow! With the manager ls attitude how is he still manager?! You lost a sale and a customer and future as I tell others.

Inkley’s new owners have stepped up the game as a camera store. There are several great camera and photography shops in the Greater Salt Lake area, but Inkley’s is where I go first. Beside the expected brands they also carry some great gear by some smaller brands such as Pentax and they have a full range of accessories, bags, filters, lighting gear etc.

Camera gear equals Inkleys. Prints are a first rate place to get them. Enlargements of your precious pictures this is the place to get them done.
