My husband and I love coming to this restaurant, especially for lunch. They have a great all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. It isn’t huge, but it’s really yummy. We love the Momo’s, the noodles, the chicken curry, the vegetables, the spicy potatoes, etc. Try it, you’ll like it!

House of Tibet is for those with a more exotic palate seeking an authentic array of foods. The atmosphere exudes a Tibetan aura, with ethnic art and photography of the country and the Dalai Lama setting the tone for genuine cuisine. Our waiter was polite and gracious, and aided me in ordering something suitable. The interval between ordering and the arrival of food was a bit lengthy, but well worth the wait. I ordered two appetizers, including spring rolls and chicken pakora, and a main course of Sha-Ngo-Thukpa, which despite its name is a tasty, if tame, dish of chicken, pan-fried noodles and vegetables. The savory noodles and tender meat harmonized to form an enjoyable meal. I recommend this place, and will be sure to revisit if I return to Salt Lake.

Great food and wonderful customer service! Came here with three other Tibetans and enjoyed the best Tibetan food Utah has to offer. Try the spicy potatoes and the traditional momos!

One of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake City. Unique Tibetan food that has great quality for a fantastic price. I love everything here. Locally owned and run by a family. Don’t let the location in a strip mall fool you, your food experience here will be delightful. Service is wonderful. Highly recommend to everybody. House of Tibet. Go there, because you should.

Traveling with me you never know where you might eat. Could be the finest five star dining to sitting on the back of my truck overlooking some valley at sunset eating apples, cheese, or salsa and chips. So today I found my way to the door on the right which lead me into the House of Tibet. The door on the left was to Shanghai. I thought maybe I had made a mistake, the place was empty. But I sat down to wait and see what direction this turn was going to take. I ordered a spring roll and Aloo-Mattar a vegetarian dish of potatoes, pees, carrots, in an Indian curry sauce. I noted the Unilocal patrons order other items and loved them so I tried something else. I love curry and was looking for a simple meal with a little spice to the pallet. I was not disappointed. The curry was subtle and brought slowing enhancing favors one bite at a time. When I had finished I was ready for more. No I did not order more, the dish could have feed two nicely but I had no one to share it with that night. My gain that night. Atmosphere was urban strip mall, pictures, map, flags, Northern Asian colors, and clean. Fancy? No. Service was moderately slow but peacefully paced which I appreciated as simply un-rushed. My kind of pace. As I look at the pictures of the Dalai Lama I was reminded of the end of a quote, «Man…he lives as if he will never die, and then dies having never really lived». I say live and take the moment, stop, and enjoy this tiny simple slightly tarnished gem in Salt Lake City. The view was not as good as the tail gate of my truck but I choose the«right» door tonight for great treat of Tibetan food. I will pass this way again.

Ok after my first visit here, I am a huge fan. The had me from the beginning with their«Vegetarians go this way» sign. Service was great, they were very friendly and attentive. Ordered the veggie momos which were delicious! Just here on a business trip, but will definitely be back to try the lunch buffet.

This is my favorite buffet in the US and I have lived in many places and have tried many things… mainly because they offer many vegan options and the spicy potatoes are so good that I find myself thinking about it and craving it in the middle of the night sometimes. which just makes me more excited to go again. I can eat and eat and eat… WITHOUTFEELINGSICKAFTERWARD! I found myself a bit disappointed in this place as a dinner option but only because their buffet is so much better. I have seriously considered going to Utah to visit friends ANDEATHEREAGAIN. Its hard to find buffet that you can fatten yourself with and still feel healthy afterwards.

House of Tibet is a local vegetarian staple. Their lunch buffet is legendary — fried rice, veggie dishes, spicy potatoes and momos(fried dumplings) are %^#! yummy and super spicy! The restaurant is quaint, it almost feels like you’re eating at someone’s house. The service is helpful and polite.

I adore this place. The staff is friendly and adorable and the food is amazing. The first time i had their spicy potatoes it changed the way i thought about potatoes forever. They’re a staple on their lunch buffet, which is extremely vegan friendly, affordable and satisfying, alongside veggie or non veggie mo-mos, which are little dumplings with savory filling you top with the best hot sauce i’ve ever had, fried rice and salad. This is also my favorite place to get take-out for dinner. They are(unfortunately) never swamped at dinner, so they always get my order out in 10 – 15 minutes, while accommodating my request for less oil and salt with the most courtesy. Very neat place.

There are buffets like Bacchanal at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. There are mediocre asian themed restaurants like Tokyo City. House of Tibet is neither. This homely restaurant offers a small buffet(~12 unique dishes) daily from 11:00 to 3:30. Salads, chicken dishes, chow mein, dumplings and curry dishes were well-seasoned and fresh. The best part of this buffet? Its $ 8.99 and includes a traditional tea drink. This is no self-serve panda express. This is genuine Tibetan food for a great price. Overall, the food quality reflects the ambiance of the restaurants: traditional, cultured, and bright with flavor.

House of Tibet is a great place to try out some delicious Tibetan food. They have a wide range of Tibetan and Indian style dishes and during lunch they have a nice buffet that is also very vegetarian friendly. I love the fried beef momos, chicken lo mein, and the chicken hot pepper. Service is good and the friendly owner is always there preparing your food. It is a small family owned restaurant and right in the heart of Salt Lake City so make sure to stop by and grab some momos!

Momo. I just love that name. So much joy just bursting from that little body. A pillowy outside, meaty(or vegetarian) on the inside. Soft, but with heart and soul. Mo. Mo. Momo. That’s but one of the things you’ll find here at House of Tibet, which sets it apart from other places around town. I stopped in for the lunch buffet, and while I wasn’t completely knocked over by the spread, it was a decidedly nice change of pace. If you’re unfamiliar with Tibetan food, just look at a map and it should start to make sense. It’s Chinese(there were noodles) but it’s heavily influenced by India. Or is it Indian, and heavily influenced by Chinese? While it feels more like the latter, you could go around and around. Chopsticks provided. Expect sauces, stir-fry looking dishes, curry and vegetable style dishes, and definitely those momos. For lunch it was around $ 10 for the AYCE buffet, and that included a glass of apple juice. There’s not much to this place. I wouldn’t call it tiny, but if you had more than a few big groups in here it would get lout and start to feel crowded. There’s plenty of parking in this strip mall/development and it’s pretty convenient right on 13th there. I was meeting a friend and didn’t want to worry about parking, so we skipped just a few blocks south of downtown proper and we were golden.

The good: — abundant food — reasonably ethnic — some ambiance — not expensive — you can select how spicy The bad: — not to flexible with orders
