This place serves up good diner food — decent portions and reasonably priced. The dipstick sandwich(roast beef dip) and fries were both really tasty. I hope it can hang in there as the location isn’t the best and the re-construction of the North Temple overpass certainly can’t help the cause.

Meh, is right. I hate to say it because this joint is kind of in my hood, but it’s just not that awesome. I will give it another shot when i have a couple of hours to kill.

Very Upset about this place! I drove 30 minutes with a friend and all of our kids to eat here because I got a great deal on some gift certificates. When we got there, we went in sat down and started looking at the menu. The guy that was there noticed that I had these gift certificates and told me that he would not honor them. WHAT! Who doesn’t honor gift certificates that have all ready been purchased! He extended my certificates for 2 more months, seeing as they were going to expire the next day. So, when I come back in a couple of weeks he can tell me again that he won’t honor them?

Saw this place as I was heading to the skatepark for Summer of Death. The guy at the counter was very nice and recommended several things. They have the usual diner food with some great sounding sandwiches and burgers. I got the club sandwich and it ended up being really good. The food came out quick and they had outside seating which was nice. They now close at 3 just so you know. Stop by and try it.

Easily the best bang for your buck in Salt Lake. Lots of good food for a great price. The staff is very friendly. I can’t remember what the names of the food we ordered were but it was all car themed. Onion rings were huge and delicious. It’s not the best diner I’ve ever been to food wise and certainly not the worst but the friendliness of the staff, atmosphere of the place and quantity and price more than make up for it. Especially if you are a UTA employee. You get a 20% discount. This is my go to diner from now on. The only negative thing I might say about this place is thar close like at 3pm and I’m not sure if they are closed Sunday but I wouldn’t doubt it.

I had heard such good things, but frankly I was unimpressed. I really wanted to like it, as I adore diners and think that SLC does not have much in the way of good diners. Reviews stating that the service is glacial are 100% correct. My drink sat empty for what seemed like an eternity, and being the only people in the joint during the entirely of our meal I felt that my food should have come significantly faster. The service is friendly, but I’ll take a little brusqueness if it meant they’d speed things up! The food was equally«meh». I had the chili burger(which has a car-themed name, but I cannot remember what), and I think the chili came from a can. If not, the cook needs to look up «chili» on Wikipedia and apply this knowledge to his work as the mess on my burger was flavorless. I just don’t think there is any excuse for bland chili when chili must be the hardest dish to do poorly on the face of the planet. The fries were good and creamy, however, and the jalapeño poppers were yummy, but deep frying IS food-magic, after-all. My husband got a different burger, which was significantly better than my own, but it wasn’t all that great. Certainly not worth the wait or waiting ages to get another drink in an empty restaurant. On the plus side, it was immaculate and in a fun location. You can see the trains go by through the window which I liked. Gotta have something to watch while you’re waiting for another coke, right? The car theme, while not my cup of tea, was well done and would be appreciated by an enthusiast. The place has obviously been remodeled recently and is quite nice… makes me wish that the same effort went into the chili! If I end up there again, I’ll try the breakfast menu, but I won’t be making any effort to go again.

If you’re in a big hurry, don’t be! Or don’t go here. The food is cooked to order, so it’s not FAST, and neither is the service. I’m not saying any of this is BAD, I’m just saying be prepared to spend a litle time at Front End Grille. Everything on the menu is named around a «car» theme. We had a $ 25 gift certificate to use, so the two of us ordered WAYTOOMUCH food. We both got burgers(Jalopy burger for me and I don’t remember the name of Lisa’s), which came with fries for around $ 5. We also got a side of onion rings(O-rings) and a side of jalapeño poppers(internal combustion). The burgers were excellent! Good quality, fresh, ground beef with REAL mushrooms and good cheeses. The bacon was just slightly undercooked for my tastes as I like it really crispy, especially on a burger. Overall, really good burgers and a STEAL for the price. The onion rings were the thick variety, with a lot of batter, but not enough to be overbearing. Not my favorite style of O-rings, but they were quite good. The poppers were very tasty, fresh out of the fryer and scalding hot! Yummm! This giant table-full of food, along with a couple of diet Cokes, set us back $ 22! Wow, what a deal! Next time, we’ll come for breakfast(served all day), because it looked phenomenal. Our waitress was extremely nice and friendly. She was(guessing) in her seventies, so «dashing» around wasn’t her thing. But we really never had to wait or want for anything and she even sat down with us for a few minutes to make sure we liked our food and were having a good time. She asked us if we’d be back and we promised we would. Front End Grille is definitely off the beaten path and when you see the location, you may think of turning around and not entering. Fight through that impulse and GO! EAT! HERE!
