My favorite is the crab Benedict. It’s delicious. Oh and mimosas. Can’t forget those!

We showed up here for dinner on a Sunday afternoon about 3:30 it was right after the rush so we were seated promptly. The atmosphere is open and airy. The location and vibe is great, and right across from Sugarhouse park, it’s definitely the Sugarhouse crowd with a fusion of young and old listening to reggae music playing in the background. We started off with the ahi as an appetizer, we so, would do that again, it was perfectly fresh on the inside a seared nicely on the inside over sliced cucumber with an amazing honey ginger sauce. I ordered the enchiladas on the recommendation of the server, he suggested go with one pork and one chicken. The portions were huge, the chicken was a hit, the shredded pork enchilada was way to sweet, almost sugary. My wife ordered the chicken Cajun chicken pasta it was large but plain and bland at best. Lucky the appetizer and atmosphere was the redeeming quality. We may come back for the vibe alone.

Charming little spot. Ordered the lunch stroganoff and it lacked a lot of flavor, but the waitress was great! I wasn’t sure which soup I wanted, so she brought out samples of all the soups on the menu for me to taste and then decide on — without me even asking for it! What a great impression that left on my partner and me. The baked cream cheese appetizer was really unique and good as well! The tomato soup I ended up getting was great. Very upscale and modern little place yet has a comforting touch to it. Definitely recommend and will return! Also — the bathrooms that are located in the basement are extremely elegant! Great place.

Salt Lake City’s local hybrid between a. Cheesecake Factory and Olive Garden? Laaarge portions(whether it’s appetizers, entrees, and desserts) and a variety of salads, sandwiches, pastas, and entrée dishes to choose from. I had the Herbed Chicken pasta(came with a good amount of veggies to counterbalance the not-too-heavy garlic cream sauce), which came with a salad or soup option. I opted for the salad, which was also big for a side! As I mentioned, most all the pasta dishes are large — except for the ravioli.(My girl friend had no trouble finishing that, while another who ordered the Cajun Chicken looked like she barely made a dent in her dish.) But the star of the dinner was definitely the dessert! We were in luck when we came in on a Tuesday and realized it was BOGO free on desserts(when you order two entrees). Their desserts change, but they have about 10 different options to choose from. If you do see it available, I definitely recommend the berry pie and the dark and white chocolate pie. Soo good! And we still have leftovers to take home and enjoy the next day as well. Our server was super outgoing and friendly as well(a positive trend I’ve noticed at all the restaurants I’ve been to in SLC!) so overall, a great family friendly spot to get together and enjoy dinner.

Wow. This place was incredible. The Hubby and I went for a week-late Valentine’s date, and we were blown away with mouth-watering food, and stellar service. I had one of their specials of the night, salmon with a mango barbeque sauce. If ever I’m in the situation where I have to choose my last meal, I’ve found the one. Hubby had another one of their specials of the night: a creamy pasta with shrimp, salmon and scallops. Delish! The Dodo is especially great when it comes to their desserts. I had the Tollhouse Cookie Dough pie, and Hubby had the Banana Cream pie. I’m ashamed to say that both were devoured long before I was able to get a picture of these masterpieces. Their Sangria was the best drink I have had in a long time. Let me just tell you, it was heavenly. Just the perfect mix of fruit. I have tried replicating it at home, but nothing has come close. Our server, Bekah, was so on top of everything. It was incredibly busy, but our waters were refilled each time before we even realized they were close to empty. She was kind patient and friendly, despite the number of tables and people she was serving. The only downfall we experienced at The Dodo was the wait. We were forewarned of the usually long wait times, so we called ahead to be put on the list. Once we arrived, the hostess told us it would be no longer than 25 – 30 minutes of a wait. However, it took us OVERANHOUR to be seated. I get that it is a popular place, especially on a weekend night, but the hostesses should really come up with a way to better calculate wait times. I don’t care if I have to wait an hour, just don’t tell me that it will only be 25 minutes. We talked to other guests who were in the same situation, so it must happen to everybody. Aside from the wait,(which I would have deducted ½ of a star if I could) The Dodo was a win! We will be back.

Great lunch spot with attentive service, great menu. Very accommodating, child friendly, good bar list, very comfortable seats and tables, and a nice and clean spot. Plenty of parking and while busy, they got us seated very quickly. Good portion sizes, varied menu. Nice place for lunch in Salt Lake.

Seriously. This is one of those places that one should not deviate from. Everything I’ve had other than stroganoff and pies have been a disappointment. I think my earlier review of brunch was tainted by the great people I was with. Oh, one addition, the baked Brie appetizer was pretty good. So three items are worthy here. Brie, stroganoff and pies. The Cajun chicken pasta was a poor substitute for the stroganoff. The chicken was dry with a texture of sand. The Cajun flavor was underwhelming and lost in the soupy sauce. I’ve also tried a few of their sandwiches, none memorable other than equivalent of a five dollar foot long. PS. It’s unprofessional for your servers to complain about their jobs and customers at the bar. Here’s the thing, tip is based on service not on whining, if you spent the hour providing better service, perhaps your tips will reflect that fact. If you hate it so much, get a new job.

The food here ranges between pretty good to downright miserable and bland. I don’t quite get the rave reviews the only thing I really love here is the soup options and that’s about it. We had pasta before which was horrible and breakfast which was pretty basic and not really good. I only come here for a quick lunch of soup and sometimes a turkey sandwich because that’s one sandwich that actually is pretty good, The other ones not so much. I will never order another appetizer here I’ve been let down way too many times. So if you like bland, tasteless food this is the spot for you. The service is always pretty good though. This place is supposedly known for their desserts and they do have a lot of dessert options which I’ve tried a couple of and haven’t really loved any of them. The prices here are reasonable but if you like flavor in your food you’ve been warned.

Eeeks! Apparently it is just me, but I do not like The Dodo Restaurant. According to Unilocal I’ve checked-in here 4-times, and I have no clue what keeps me coming back… The wait is long(45-minutes for 3 people to be seated for lunch), the menu items are beyond-bizarre(a baked block of cream cheese marinated in soy sauce and rolled in sesame seeds?), the food is bland(I had to add a ton of salt to my stroganoff) and the portions are grossly large. I prefer quality over quantity any day. I’ve come to the realization that it must just be me, as this restaurant has great reviews, including some from awesome Elites who I totally revere. I’ve tried a bevvy of menu items and desserts and just cant figure what the huff is all about. If you have any suggestions, please let me know because I’d love to love this eclectic restaurant that is thisclose to home.

The heated cream cheese appetizer was dreadful. I will never say no to baked cheese but this brick of sesame-crusted, salty, pasty cheese was bizarre. Apparently it is a very popular appetizer… yikes! The fish tacos were good… nothing exceptional… but good. The Tollhouse Pie(ordered to-go) was very good although I was robbed of the ice-cream that should have come with it. Arrrrrrrr! The apple cream cheese pie was quite good. Would I return? Probably not.

A very nice place to stuff yourself silly. My fat boy side came out with a «no mercy» mentality. I informed the waiter straight up that he was going to witness one of the deadly sins emerging from this disguised fat boy in a fit man’s body. The waiter grinned and told me to bring it. IT. WAS. BROUGHT.(see pictures) The ambiance of the restaurant was very relaxed and had the diner vibe. Staff was very friendly, and accommodating(extra this, more that, etc.). The patrons were in shock/awe/disgust at the plates of food swarming to my table. Not much left to say except I killed it. In the end, I took home only the dessert — but not after I destroyed half. I guess what I’m trying to say is — if you haven’t eaten at Dodo, you might be a Dodo. Go get’em!

This is definitely my go to food establishment. It’s always solid and you know exactly what you are going to get every time. The salads are great, the smoked turkey sandwich is amazing(add bacon and avocado). The desserts are all awesome and the service is always great too!

This place was good but not amazing. I had a good time going there but I don’t think I would go again. The service was great and environment is nice, this place is great for a date night. Their desert menu is fantastic, everything is delicious, you can’t go wrong with any of the options.

When we arrived the wait time was greater than what was relayed to us over the phone during out commute. We explained our concern to the manager, Mckenzie. She was fantastic and moved heaven and earth to help us get seated as quickly as possible. The server Quinn was also very good. The food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I’ve had some pretty good lunch here. But honestly I gave this four stars because they’re eggs benedict for breakfast is quite frankly amazing. They usually have three or four variations and i would eat breakfast here all week long if they served it.

Great brunch. Tried the traditional and crab Benedict. Both came with house potatoes. The potatoes were okay. Both Benedict dishes were good but I liked the crab better because it had more flavor. They also give you a banana muffin with sweet butter cream at the beginning of your meal which was a nice sweet little appetizer for me. Prices are decent. It was ~$ 22 for both Benedict dishes. Will come back to try other items in the future.

I don’t know what I like more the desserts or the dinner. Atmosphere was great waiter was prompt. The food was delicious. We ate/tried blackened chicken salad with house dressing — really good moist chicken and good flavor of the dressing Chicken enchilada — super yummy. Right amount of sauce Cajun Alfredo — group favorite very Rick and creamy and just enough kick but not so much you can’t enjoy all the flavored Tukey sandwich. We heard a lot about the sandwich. Not a fan but I should say I don’t like bbq or carved turkey. I did try it and the turkey was good the bread was soft and the bbq duping sauce was pretty good. Favorite part of the night? Go on Tuesday’s and on Tuesday’s desserts are 2 for 1. What?! We ordered 4. Why not! A few we wanted were sold out so we ordered ours with our dinner and had them plate it so we could get the ones we wanted We tried banana cream pie– hubbies favorite nice chunks of banana that were not black Chocolate almond mouse with cookie crust — so light and yummy Peach sour cream torte– my favorite. Perfection Buttermilk raspberry white chocolate cake — it was ok but no ones favorite

After 3 years in the Salt Lake area I finally made my first trip to the Dodo. The restaurant itself has a nice décor inside and very modest bar area. I was seated within 10 – 15 of arrival and promptly greeted by a server. The restaurant was busy, but not too busy which made me wonder why it was so loud. I could barely hear my other party and we were seated directly across from each other. Noise seems to bounce of the walls here. We decided to order the ahi medallions for our appetizers and they were prepared excellently. Lightly seared on the outside, and great sides of wasabi and dipping sauce to complement the tuna. For my entrée I ordered the pulled pork quesadillas. The quesadillas themselves were fine, but a little too much of the rice and beans for the side. I can’t really explain anything more about the taste because there wasn’t anything spectacular about them albeit they were tasty. My party ordered the ravioli which was actually better tasting. A little concerning that it wasn’t hot enough especially since I took a bite right when the food came out. Maybe it sat for a bit, I don’t know. Either way the taste wasn’t compromised. The real treat was the dessert. We ordered the chocolate raspberry cheesecake and man did that hit the spot. The crust was fantastic as was the cake itself. My personal preference is having cheesecake served cold from the freezer so I may make that request next time. All in all, the Dodo was good. I want to return for brunch sometime and go back for dinner to try some of the other entrees. If you haven’t visited yet, I suggest you give it a shot sometime soon.

Love coming to this place for dessert! The portions are huge and the variety is great! What I also love about this place is that they are open later than most restaurants. You can come here and grab a late drink(which their cocktails are amazing) and just sit and chat with friends for a bit. Lastly, their food here is pretty good. I would recommend staying off of their daily menu and go off of their specials; always much better than what they serve daily.
