This is the second time here. Dang it’s great! First trip had the brisket sandwich, deelish ! And the portions are large! Today I had the fried chicken, wow it was great too! The place is very casual with an open atmosphere, literally. The nice young man, Mike, was friendly and the service could not be better! Today he was working harder than a one armed wallpaper hanger! Will be back again and again

We ordered the sampler and even got to try a new recipe. They pretty much let us try anything on the menu. The meat and sauces were delicious! Not too spicy and not too sweet. Cornbread was moist, slaw wasn’t too sweet and beer was cold! I even got a history lesson on Utah being that we weren’t locals. Nice.

Well… The beer was cold. We went in with a serious craving for bubbas bbq circa, one year ago, and got an experience not unlike walking into someone’s home uninvited. The server seemed extremely depressed and the cook was extremely rude. Confusion on where to order and the menu changed where you could only order burgers and sandwiches. We ended up leaving without ordering food! So sad… Loved this place

We have been driving by this place for a few years now. Tried the sampler. Loved the pulled pork and the beans. Can’t wait to come back and try our the lunch options, especially the fried chicken.

A great summer joint when you want to grub on some bbq. I really like the outdoor seating. It’s a little pricey for what you get, but a good rib place is hard to find in Salt Lake.

Fried shrimp with fries and slaw is bomb– diggity. Especially with a nice cold, local brew.

Decent food, sauces are mediocre, had a brisket sandwich and it was super fatty even though we all asked for a lean cut. Customer service was okay.

Had the half rack of ribs with slaw and cornbread. The ribs were boiled and had to be ripped off the bone. The cornbread was alright but the butter topping was awful. The coleslaw was bland and hadn’t had enough time to marinate. Dick Burns Carolina Twang sauce was basically yellow mustard and not edible. But the Custom Q Sauce is rather tasty. All in all bad BBQ joint I won’t be back.

Bubbas used to has a good menu but seems they made a switch. Can’t get the Macaroni or any pastas anymore and the ribs was all bone. Beans are hot and cornbreads okay but we probably ain’t goin back no more. Too bad.

Have been there once and loved it, called over and over to place a takeout order for the sampler, just the voicemail. It was 7 something and hours show listed until 9 pm. Decided to stop by on way home thinking they were busy, but no one was there, dark and not a person in site. Wish they would have posted a sign on door regarding what was going on, tried Facebook page but link said nothing found and no email on website to message anyone. If anyone could let me know what happened, would love to know:(

Service and sauces were great, but the ribs I ordered, about five pounds worth, only yielded about 4 ounces of actual meat, and maybe 3 pounds of gross fat and tendon. The rest was bone. Sure, maybe I am a bit picky when it comes to unrendered lard, but the delicious brisket almost made up for it…

This place is SO delicious. Best BBQ ribs I have had since I’ve been in Salt Lake! The cooks really know what they are doing when it comes to BBQ! The vibes are awesome! Definitely a cool little hang out spot to get get great food! I Recommend it to everyone.

I am really sorry to say this… Because I used to love this place. But since they closed and reopened things have steadily gotten worse. My biggest complaint would be simply that the food wasn’t flavored like a BBQ joint. The brisket tasted like bad pot roast, the pulled pork was as bad as it gets. The only high point of my trip was the exit. I will try this place in a year. If it last that long. Recommendations: drive 5 minutes east or west to get to either Pat’s BBQ or Sugar House BBQ.

Came by here on a visit to SLC. Street tacos were a nice variant from what I’m used to in SoCal. Place was busy but food came out pretty fast. Brisket was decent, had a good flavor before I applied the sauce. I grabbed a piece of my guests Fried chicken. .. now that is an interesting take on this dish. Salty and moist, just the way I like it. I may be biased as we don’t really have great BBQ in my neck of the woods, nor do we generally have actually friendly wait staff at most places, but, it’s a cool little joint. I may also have given it 4 stars as the beer was ICE cold on a 100+ degree day.

Drove by this place many many times. Always thinking I should stop because it looks so good. Good barbecue is hard to find though. And this is not the place sad to say. I feel like they really want to be good the workers seen to have their heart in it but they don’t seem to have the talent.

Bubbas serves up ribs, BBQ pork and chicken, beef brisket, mango pork, and all the sides you expect. They also have street tacos including beef, chicken and pork and lots of beers and the adult beverages. We came here for lunch hungry and ended up ordering way too much food. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty good. It needed some extra sauce to really make it standout, but with that sauce it was tasty pretty darn good. There were some tough bits I had to pull out from the smoked pork, but the rest was cooked well and the BBQ sauce was tasty. The bun they served it on could have been better though, it tasted day old and crumbled because of the wet pulled pork. Ribs were pretty good. Nothing special really. Big ribs but not much meat on them. Tough eating to get much off the bones. Corn bread was kind of dry and was served room temperature. It would have been great if it had been fresh and served warmed. Macaroni and cheese was surprisingly lacking in one of the key ingredients, cheese. Believe it or not there was almost no cheese on the macaroni and cheese… There should be some kind of law against that kind of reckless cooking. My wife said the beans were pretty good but there were a lot sweeter than she would have preferred. Portions were generous and the prices were right: only $ 8 for a pulled pork sandwich and two sides. Music was great and the service was attentive. Not sure I’d recommend Bubbas Firehouse BBQ. Some of the food was pretty good but there were some problems with much of the food we ordered. I think the nearby Sugar House BBQ has much better food and the quality is far more consistent.

Wasn’t a big fan of this place. While the ribs looked tasty, they were dry and tasted as though they had been re-heated. Same goes for the beans, very blah. Not trying to be a hater but there are several places that are not too far away that serve better BBQ — Sugarhouse being one of them. I think the thing that dooms this place is that it’s just not that busy. If it were busier, I’m sure they’d turn the food over quicker and it’d taste great. But when you’ve got to re-heat from the day, or days, before, the results just aren’t going to be that good. I’d say the highlight was the spicy pickles, they were tasty.

I’ve tried Firehouse twice now in hopes of catching them on better days. Both experiences were equal and not great BBQ. All of the items I ordered from the smoker had an acidic, earthy flavor. You get that from too much smoke. It impacted the flavor of everything from ribs, chicken, to pork. Both trips had the same flavor. The ribs were quite rubbery. They were as fatty as all ribs but I think they might be storing these in a method that lends to the elastic-band effect you get when eating these ribs. I really didn’t care for their BBQ sauce. It is less BBQ flavor and more tomato flavor and would be better served on a pasta dish. It has a consistency of a good pasta sauce as well. Both visits were at an «off» time(around 3pm) and they were out of things for me and other patrons. Unsweetened tea for me, guacamole and Pico for another patron(they serve a quasi-Mexican menu as well) and some other items. A few redeeming factors: The collared greens were good, the cornbread was fantastic. Both prepared in the smoker. The ambiance of the place lends itself to a nice dining experience but in the summer months, expect a swarm of flies. That’s an acceptable danger when eating outside.

Zac, I am with you; this place is definitively 3.5 stars material. Good service and decent ambience; I liked being able to sit outside and the patio is a neat concept. Really weird mix of clientele but that doesn’t have an impact on my rating. I got the sampler, my friend got the Mango Chicken sandwich. Some of the meats were really passable; the chicken«cubes» were dry and not very flavorful. The pulled pork was good but nothing special. The rib was delicious, I could see myself coming back just for the ribs alone. Standard BBQ sauce; I would have liked a little more variety on that front. The sides were really disappointing. My potato salad was bland and looked weird and the beans had a strange taste to them. My friend’s cornbread was tasty though! I would have bumped it up to a four but I got a stomachache after eating. I’d like to explore the other BBQ options in SLC before settling on this one. Overall, pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The internet however, well, nobody can control what I say on the INTERNET :)

I ordered after the other customer’s did. And when i saw their food coming it was all sandwiches. This place may be more of a sandwich place and i just made the mistake of getting only meat. Well… its a bbq place so i was there for the freakin meat okay? The meat was pretty decent. I suggested getting the sampler because then you get every meat they have. The rib was pretty good. The chicken was good. The brisket had a weird flavor. The pulled pork was only salted but good. I was super nervous because they only have one BBQ sauce. But thankfully it was delicious. I still wish they would have had more variety. Lastly, the sides.(this is my specialty i think) The sticky rice is the exact reason why i don’t take servers suggestions. The sauce that came with it appealed to me, but its just white rice… im an idiot. The beans were good, super sweet with a little touch of something something. The last side i got was coleslaw which i liked(im a big coleslaw guy) but it definitely isn’t the best ive had. In conclusion, if you like BBQ joints a lot, give it a try. This isn’t a place you have to go to or you’ll be missing out. This rating should be a 3.5.

3.5 stars if I could. We ordered the deluxe sampler and a rack of ribs, baked beans, collared greens and cornbread, and everything was moist and delicious. The fact that someone gave them 1 star and said«great place», baffles me. Another made a negative comment on the cornbread. I love a good cornbread, and these guys pull it off. While nobody in town comes close to my personal bbq recipes, I highly recommend Bubba’s. Much better than Sugarhouse BBQ for sure. I’d probably give Bubba’s 4 stars if they didn’t use styrofoam. Using environmentally friendly takeout containers always scores big points with me. The website needs work too. Very difficult to read the menus on their«blackboard» background. When you guys are ready to invest in a decent site, hit me up!

I feel I really TOFTT on Bubba’s, post new ownership. I tried the brisket sandwich. It looked like it did before, loaded with brisket. The sliced brisket seemed moist but was dry in the middle. Was it dipped in liquid to get that outside moisture, I have no idea. The brisket was pretty bland, no hint of smoke and the dollop of sauce didn’t add any flavor either. The first side was the cornbread. I like the pourable honey butter it came with. The cornbread was gummy. It seemed to not have enough leavening or it was due to being microwaved with plastic wrap, I don’t know. The second side intrigued me, stick rice. Yup, sticky rice. I’m sure it once started out as standard sticky rice but by the time it made it to me, it was hard and dried out. Not even the delicious and unique spicy thai sauce it came with could save it. That sauce was pretty much the highlight of the meal. Still don’t know what TOFTT is? Took One For The Team, in this case, the Unilocal team.
