Niko’s Place Roast Beef, Seafood & Pizza

Stopped in for a late lunch and asked what the specialty was. I was told Roast beef so I gave it a shot. It was served warm on a grilled roll and was freshly sliced and very rare. Probably the best roast beef sandwich I ever had! They have a half dozen tables for inside dining.

Phenomenal. I was raised on Nick’s Roast Beef in Beverly and I never thought I’d taste anything as good anywhere else. This is as good. The beef anyway, which is all I had. We popped in after seeing «The Finest Hours», which was a terrible film. I got the beef home and ate it in like 3 bites. It was so good I was moaning and almost had a ‘gasm.

Fantastic pizza, Italian subs & Cesar salad. We ate here three days in a row. Very easy to get hooked. Nice staff, too.

Stopped here on the way home from a college visit. It’s a small place right on the side of the road. The food was awesome. I got the pastrami sandwich and my mom got the roast beef. The cut of meat is so thin and the most delicious I’ve ever had. Would recommend to anyone who wanted a quick and delicious lunch.

This place is pure Americana. A little Mom n Pop place that serves great food.
The young woman at the counter recommended the roast beef sandwich, and the beef tip caesar wrap. I had the former, my wife the latter. We’re from beef country in Kansas, so were skeptical. We figured we’d eat mostly seafood in New England. Am I glad I took a chance! The roast beef was as tender and flavorful as any prime rib I’ve ever had. My wife loved her wrap, as well.
It’s well worth the ½ mile detour from the interstate to sample the wares at this little gem of an eatery.

We got subs from Nikos and they were good. The meatball parm was tasty and my husband really enjoyed the roast beef.

I’ve already made a review for Niko’s, but I’ve made this my go-​to for delivery and take-​out, and they’re staying strong at the top of my list! The food is always great and freshly made. Great, respectable prices. The staff are polite, yet quick and efficient. They are flexible and don’t groan when you put in an order 20min before closing. Right on 110 and close to 95, so even though I’ve moved, I can still easily access!

Restaurant hours are the best in the area, with most nights open until 9−10PM. Most restaurants in town similar to Niko’s Place close earlier.
Order a Super Roast Beef on the onion roll and I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the tender flavor, freshly cut and cooked (if desired) beef. Add some toppings or just their barbecue sauce for a mouth watering meal.
I’m not a fan of the pizza. The crust is very thin, hardly any sauce, not sure what they use for cheese but it has an odd taste, and it’s very oily. Had my first pizza recently and it will be the last one bought here. They are known for the roast beef, which I am very pleased with and will stick with it.

I go here for lunch quite a bit and they have the best roast beef sandwiches that I have ever had. The roast beef is nice and rare and the portion sizes are large too. They are quick too which really helps when you are pressed for time on your lunch hour.

Husband and I ordered a pizza and a salad with steak tips, which were both good. But before leaving I asked for a extra dressing. She showed me one that was in the bag but I politely asked again for a extra, which I got but with a attitude. Slamming the pizza cutter, into our pizza acting all aggravated, I even offered to pay for it. Think I will keep my distance from there for awhile. Wasn’t expecting that reaction at all.

Popped by today, in the off-​season and have quite the discriminate palette for roast beef. My expectations were high due to Unilocal reviews and Nikos did not disappoint. The roast beef was so tender that even with cheese, sauce and pickles, there was no mess from stringing it out of the bun. The sauce would be better if it had a little kick but the roast beef is amongst the best I’ve had, if not the best.

I have only reviewed maybe 5 places and just ordered from Nikos again and was so impressed I wanted to review not realizing i already did! Avgelemono soup is amazing as always and was unbelievably hot when it arrived. I also tried the chicke caesar wrap and it was so delicious. They use a real caesar dressing not that bottled cheese crap! AMAZING!

I was initially torn whether to write this review or just not bother, but after thinking about all the amazing reviews I read here today that got me motivated to drive over, I decided my opposing opinion may be of some help to others that have tastes similar to mine.
The people were nice enough, the place was clean, but what I care about is the food, so that’s what this review is based on. Keep in mind 2 stars is «meh, I’ve had better», which I feel is fair and accurate.
I LOVE red meat, especially roast beef. I live in Newburyport and am a Courtyard roast beef addict. I ordered the 3-​way and onion rings as I saw these mentioned in Unilocal reviews several times. I was not expecting Niko’s to exceed Courtyard as IMO it would be near impossible, but I was expecting them to be close. I was very disappointed and ended up tossing more than half the sandwich and I never throw out food. The beef itself was of a great texture and consistency, but it didn’t have that sweet flavor like Courtyard (or even Black Duck’s Dietz & Watson) and the BBQ sauce was all I could really taste.
As for the onion rings… I don’t often eat onion rings (I’m allergic to onions) but every now and then I just go for it and deal with the consequences. I did that today and it wasn’t worth it. I like my onion rings crispy with a decent amount of batter. These were soggy with very little batter. I’m sure some prefer them this way, and as this is a preference thing, I didn’t factor this into my rating.

I am kind of a roast beef snob and I can say hands-​down Niko’s is one of the best — if not the best — roast beef sandwich I have ever had.
Really the key to a great roast beef is the beef. It’s cooked so perfectly well at Niko’s.
I got a «3 way» roast beef (cheese, bbq, mayo), fries, onion ring, and a small salad for $ 12. It is enough food for two people.
I will be going back.

After a short afternoon of swimming, we decided to stop in and give Niko’s a try. On the recommendation of roast beef I ordered the Super Beef on an onion roll, which I nodded yes to on the BBQ sauce. While waiting I noticed the establishment was very clean and organized, including the floors under the counter.
The ‘Super Roast Beef’ was cut right in plain sight which guarantees it is fresh. The bun was fresh, roast beef tender, and the bbq sauce was great. I don’t know if they make their own sauce but if they do I give them my hats off. It was clearly reminiscent of a Memphis style heavy vinegar flavor with a sweet and spicy after taste. I never complain about too much food but this sandwich was loaded with beef. One suggestion might be to put American cheese on top and bottom of the meat not just the bottom.
The staff was nice, the establishment clean, and food delicious. As a result this must warrant 5-​stars. Keep up the good work Niko’s and maybe add some new items which add to your repertoire of deliciousness.

Yep Im gonna echo what many have said there and stick to 1 thing here, ROAST BEEF! the best and greatest roast beef sandwich ive ever had. nice and the perfect pink color you want on an RB sandwich. SUPER BEEF WITH CHEESE and whatever else ya like on it. I get the onion rings too and thats all ive ever ordered from there.

i have four words for you… SUPER BEEF, THREE WAY.
if you have not experienced the amazing game changer that is the Nikos super beef with bbq sauce, mayo and cheese, you have not lived. it is better than Nick’s and you know what, its better than Kellys too. Hands down, the BEST roast beef sandwich i have ever had in my life.

Okay. My family and I have eaten here twice now within 24 hours. We are on a trip on our way to Maine and stopped for lunch. On the way back we just had to stop again. It was so good. The roast beef sandwiches are exceptionally good. The roast beef was very rare. They were very generous with the portion The only thing better than the food was the nice people that run it. They were very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend anyone to Nikos.

Stopped here today and had the best roast beef sandwich of my lifetime. The interior and staff were nothing to write home about, but I will be driving 45 minutes again soon for the sandwich because it was seriously that good! Oh, and for the idiot who complained about not being allowed to park five horse trailers in a tiny parking lot, 1. You are an idiot. 2. Wrong forum, this is for restaurant reviews.
