The food was very good. The service was very attentive to our needs during dinner. I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking to be seated quickly and not wanting to wait 30 minutes. The food was fresh and replenished often.

Greeted with smiles and seated within seconds of entering. Food was fresh and continuously tended to by employees. Sushi was, as always fresh and appealing to look at and delicious! Staff is attentive and friendly. And they have that night sky ceiling with twinkling stars above the checkout area.

Quite frankly, this is a review that I really never imagined that I would ever write. I’ve eaten at China Buffet Salisbury for lunch many many times during the week in the past. I’ve always felt that it was an adequate lunch while in Salisbury. A pretty good meal for a reasonable price. A good place to meet a couple friends for lunch during the week, typically from 12 to 1 p.m. The Salisbury China Buffet location in the past has certainly been worthy of at least a three to four star review from me. However… Yesterday I had a solo late lunch at China Buffet. Admittedly, I realized I was arriving at a late hour for lunch(3:30 p. m). In reading some of the reviews below about this time of the afternoon being a bad time to be there, I am now aware that this was not an ideal time. What an understatement this is. In writing these Unilocal reviews, I truly try to be objective, even when the experience has turned out to be a less-than-stellar one. This meal, however, strains the limits of this objectivity. There were so many negatives in this visit, I hesitate to list them all. I’m afraid I would lose credibility with the reader if I recite the entire list. The very slim selection of sushi appeared as if a tornado had gone through it. After this initial disappointment, I looked to the Hibachi Grill section. No one there, and as I was on a limited time lunch break, I could not wait. So I proceed to the regular Chinese buffet section. Here I found most of the food lukewarm, and much of it dried out from having been on the buffet much too long. The Coconut Shrimp here is one of my favorites usually, however it was inedible from dry and nearly cold. The Egg Rolls were like attempting to chew on a piece of leather. And the list goes on and on… To summarize, what was being presented was the dregs of lunch three hours previously. So much of the buffet selections were so cool to cause me to have serious health/food safety concerns about their presentation at these low temperatures. I do know I had some intestinal upset which kept me «active» after this meal. Just when I come to believe that this experience could not possibly be worse, I was presented the check. Perhaps this part is partly my fault, but I was very surprised to learn this lunch was over $ 12. Maybe I should have asked on entering, but my prior experience was that lunch at China Buffet is $ 8& change here. Seems Lunch is more expensive on Saturday then during the week. Perhaps they make up the lesser volume of patrons with a price increase. $ 12 in Salisbury will buy a lot of good lunches. Too bad it didn’t buy one here. On leaving, I mentioned to the cashier about my disappointment with the meal. Perhaps caring and concern is an extra cost item, because I did not get any there. After this experience, it will be a LONGLONG time before I venture into this location again. And I really regret this, I’ve enjoyed many suitable lunches previously.

The best Chinese buffet around. Always fresh. Now offering hibachi and sushi included in the buffet. One of my favorite places in Salisbury.

China Buffet of Salisbury, North Carolina… where do I even begin. For me, this place is more than a restaurant, but a home away from home. Sitting in the former spot of K & W Cafeteria, China Buffet came to fruition in early 2008. Prior to this, any individual looking to overindulge in sushi and Chinese food would be required to make the pilgrimage down to the China Buffet in Kannapolis, which is also highly recommended. But once this place opened it’s beautiful doors, life in Salisbury became that much sweeter. From the outside, the restaurant itself may appear to be nothing special due to it’s cinder block bland exterior. But upon waltzing through the large french glass doors, you are immediately greeted by the sounds of an impressive water feature reminiscent of the mighty Yangtze River. Look to the heavens and you will see an impressive display of LED stars twinkling down on all those who wait to be seated. Then if you glimpse around the dining area, you will notice that each area embraces a different theme. High vaulted ceilings with blue accent lighting to right, while bamboo tea house booth partitions and soft lighting to the left. The buffet takes the main stage, front in center and organized into 4 columns with picturesque cumulus cloud morals overlooking the cornucopia of Asian delicacies. However, we must not forget the dark horse of China Buffet, who lurks in the farthest left corner of the restaurant, the Sushi Izakaya. Taken straight out of Tokyo, this has always been the star attraction for me. Both nigiri and maki are freshly prepared and presented here in alarming quantities and at breakneck speed. Service at China buffet is what really makes this diamond in the rough shine the brightest. At arrival, you will be immediately whisked away to your table that you will call home for the next few hours. The staff has always been extremely accommodating to various seating arrangements. I have personally reserved and dined at China Buffet with parties 30+ and they were able to calmly organize and handle the influx at moments notice. Waitresses at China Buffet truly take pride in servicing their guests. Never in my years dining at China has my beverage gone unattended, my plates unbused or any other request I have made fallen on deaf ears. This especially holds true to the sushi chef, as I routinely ask for custom items or chefs choice and he not only prepares them fresh, but brings them out to my table. After some time, the owner took notice of my routine business and would always come to personally greet my table and see how everything was. Now, onto the food itself. There are many reviews on here slandering the quality of the food and complaining how it does not meet their expectations of Asian cuisine. I will be the first to admit, this is not 3 Michelin star restaurant cuisine, but for what Americanized Chinese buffet food is in all its MSG and Sweet and Sour glory, this is pretty superlative and the best in the Piedmont. They provide all the traditional Chinese standbys such as fiery chicken Szechuan to savory egg drop soup. As mentioned previously, sushi is the main attraction, as they provide all the standard tuna and salmon maki variations as well as Ebi nigiri and a few tempura specialty Americanized sushi. rolls. For desert if you choose to save room, a cornucopia of sugary intimates await you, including my personal favorite, Birthday Cake Ice Cream. I am convinced previous reviewers on here simply do not have an intimate relationship with their taste buds and cannot recognize decent food when its placed right in front of their face. So what credibility do I have to make such accusations you ask? I have dined in all major cities in China and Hong Kong, experiencing all regional cuisines in traditional form and have dined on sushi prepared by James Beard recognized chef Ken Tominga with fish flown in from Tokyo’s famed Tsukiji fish market. To reiterate, I am not inferring that China Buffet’s food can compare to the likes of these places, but they are in entirely different food classes and price tiers. if you are expecting Asian culinary excellence, then you probably should not be dining in Salisbury. To conclude, if you have not taken the dive to embark on a dining experience at the China Buffet of Salisbury, I would put down your snakebite wrap at Uncle Bucks or Bloomin Burger at Outback and give it a chance. Pay no attention to the naysayers on this page, as there probably stuffing their faces with mediocre food at Ryan’s Steakhouse as we speak. If given the chance, China Buffet will quickly become your new safe haven for far East flavor and will open your eyes and mouth to an all new culinary experience.

I really liked it. It is exactly the way I wanted it to be. It’s a very clean place. Very good and prompt service, friendly staff, a big dining place, and lots of selection for lunch buffet. Their lunch buffet is awesome. They have many items and several varieties. I am Pescatarian. I could still find some good veggie items, and lots of seafood selection. I went here for a lunch with few colleagues, and I can tell that everyone liked it. I am delighted that we went here. I have been planning to go here for sometime.

My favorite thing about China Buffet is the sushi. Ray is the sushi chef, and he’s AWESOME. He always makes us special rolls and remembers what we like and don’t like. We’re regulars there and the entire staff knows us and loves our three year old daughter. We always feel welcome. True, the buffet food is about the same that you’d find anywhere else, but we go for the sushi, not the buffet. I’m going to miss this place when I move away.

The food is mediocre, definitely not worth the fairly reasonable price for the buffet. The variety isn’t all that great, the food tastes like it was rushed to be put out to the tables without any real care about the quality, and typically the place is full of ignorant yahoos. If I want top quality Chinese food, I’ll stick with take-out from Ting Hao.

It’s a buffet so don’t expect gourmet. Some of the fried food was a little to crispy. Multiple dishes are lukewarm. They do have sushi and it’s not bad for a buffet. They do have MANY dishes to choose from. An entire desert and salad bar is offered. It’s ok. The price of $ 7.59(as of 8÷16÷11) is super! You get what you pay for.

I was dragged here by a coworker. I am not a fan of buffets. But as far as buffets go… and keeping an open mind. This one wasn’t so bad. It had all the typical things you would expect. A salad bar a soup bar and fried section and then a plethora of stir fry options. I thought the food was good. The price was around $ 8 dollars per person. I think that’s pretty acceptable. The staff was friendly and quick to clear the empty plates. So, I’m giving this a solid OK.

The quality of the food depends on the time of day you eat there. For example, if you go at 5:00, you get leftover lunch and the quality will be poor. By 6:30 or 7:00 most all the food is fresh and certainly more appealing. Same for lunch; at 11:00, the food is leftover from the night before. Best to go at 1:00. Even at its best, the food is only mediocre — not wonderful, but not awful. When we eat here, we always check the time of the day.

This place is a insult to all that is China. The owner took a really good«Small Buffet» In Kannapolis NC that nearly made food to order and sushi was not made until you asked so by the time you made it to your table it was ready. And blew it up nearly the size of a Walmart with 93,000 items and service and freshness went out the window. terrible! I mean how long do you think shrimp will last with constant heat? And fish? And those fancy clams stuffed with Mayonnaise pure mayo!.YUK And that beautiful green broccoli after cooking it for a hour is so soft you could suck it threw a straw. What are you doing? Sure you have business because, you decided to forgo quality into quantity sure you will have those people that«Only» eat at buffets when I was there I saw a couple wearing fanny packs that said” I am WITHSTUPID” BOTHOFTHEMWHERE wearing one. And I was one to for going there! Dr Phil what are they thinking?

This — relatively — new buffet is clean. Really clean. In fact, it’s one of the more spotless places I’ve been to in recent years. The staff is great as well. Very friendly. The buffet is also huge. When a large party came in, seemingly from a wedding rehearsal or something, we hardly noticed, and had no problem getting back up to get a refill. Food on the buffet was also good, with fresh food, always hot. The sushi may not have been the best, but I can’t really speak to that as I’m not really a fan of sushi(I try some, but it’s not my area of expertise).
