I have been going here for years and it pains me to write this review. This pub has gone down so far, the wife and I will never go back. To start. DIRTY no one cleans anymore. There is a nasty smell. The food is not good anymore, new chef I guess. While I was sitting at the bar waiting for my wife to meet me I saw who I thought was the chef drinking so that explains the food. Waitstaff was very nice. Bathrooms dirty. Sorry to say will not ever return.

Finally got to bring my Mom & Dad here last Thursday. We couldn’t sit in the bar as I’d hoped because all the tables were filled(there was a live band… cool!) but when we were greeted by our waitress I was happy to see that it was the smiley bartender I’d seen last visit! The people really make this place one that you want to go back to. The dinners took a little longer to get to us than we may had liked, but the place was packed.. We ordered the specials of the evening– prime rib and twin lobster tails… again, everything was perfectly prepared. From the delicious pre dinner bread basket to the coffee, all wonderful! I have to say, although our waitress(don’t know if it’s PC to mention names, so I’ll not) had a large table and many others, she and the hostess still found time to make us feel very appreciated and thoroughly accommodated. I don’t know how they do it, but they do, and it’s seriously impressive to watch. Kudos ladies! We’ll be seeing you again soon!

Place definitely went downhill — been coming here for years and always liked their salad with dinner. No longer offered with dinner, AND they’ve raised their prices — prime rib is now $ 25 ! The staff was friendly, and the pork we also ordered was great, but the prime rib was tasteless and chewy — definitely not a good cut. Don’t think we’ll be back… to raise prices AND cut back at the same time is a no-no in Business 101.

Great food, good atmosphere, and excellent staff. The specials are great and the prime rib is the best value in the Hudson valley. I recommend everybody stop in and see for themselves.

I’ve been coming here for years… and not until recently was I a local. I actually traveled to get here in the past when I lived 30 miles away. I’ve read a few snotty and stuck up reviews… wow complete losers. I mean to lie and say things like the place smells and there were flies?! Maybe it was your husband or your armpits. ANYWAY. The staff is great, super nice no matter what day it is. And for beer, a HUGE selection in bottles and draft as well. Prime rib is always great The French dip at lunch can not be beat. They also always have three varieties of fries… burgers are huge and juicy… I will continue to visit Loughran’s…oh and they have 20 Oz euro pints… who in the Hudson Valley as that for 4 bucks?

Been here twice. The prime rib, as others have noted is gigantic and delicious. Know what you’re walking into here… an Irish pub in a small town that doesn’t have a reason to update. Yes it’s vintage, some may say dingy, but the food is good and they serve their beers cold. My second visit was on a Saturday night at 7 pm and they were out of their trademark prime rib… inexcusable. But the consolation steak I got was good too and everyone at our table of 6 was pleased with their orders. If you’re in the area and you want a cold drink and a big plate of home cooked food, give it a try

Only open until 9 which is a plus for families wanting to dine out on St Patrick’s(there is a bar side, but rated G compared to the wilder all evening pubs).

Have been purchasing the«Tuesday Nite Special» for a few months. Have yet to be disappointed. Servings are large enough to last for a few days. Quality has been spot on.

Went for dinner on a Friday night. They were not very busy and we were seated in the main dining room with a few other couples and one very loud group. The waitress was quick to take and bring our drink orders, sadly the coke was flat, but took a while to come back and take our dinner order. She never asked if we wanted appetizers, which originally we would have ordered, but with how long it took to place our dinner order we skipped that idea. Once our order was placed it was a while for our salads to be brought out, good, not great, rather wilted lettuce but the veggies were nice and fresh. Dinner took forever, granted my boyfriend ordered the prime rib, which they need to revisit the cut of to be able to cook to temp inside without drying out the exterior as was the case with the slab he received. Again the veggies on his plate were delicious, some yellow and green beans. My cheesesteak, I should have ordered a chicken dish, was very fatty. Waffle fries were tasty, but wish I asked if veggies were an option. Do not think we will be going back as this was a first time visit based on a recommendation of a family member. Boyfriend much prefers the prime rib at the Captains Table, but I took a chance.

How can a restaurant that is known for prime rib run out ?! Have been dining here once in awhile over the years & noticed the place is definetly slipping. Need to freshen it up ! Steak was very good but rack of lamb was smallest I have ever seen.

OMG I found my new favorite! My boyfriend and I went there for dinner recently and we didn’t want huge dinner portions so we opted for the hot open sandwiches. I got the turkey and he got the shaved prime rib. Not only were they HUGE but they were the best I’ve ever had, and trust me I tasted his too! We will be going there a lot now that the waterfront dining is getting to be too cold to enjoy as much…

This place has the nicest staff and amazing food!!! Portions are ample!!! Their prime rib is the best I have ever had! It’s enough for 4 grown men! They also have amazing bar type food! The beer infused mozzarella sticks are soooo good! The only down side is they need to update the dinning room and parking lot!

Prime rib extremely disappointing. No taste, dry, over done and over priced. Certainly not the quality of days gone by or reputation. German feast a bit better. Not worth a trip back.

I’ve been here probably a dozen times over the years, and have observed a steady decline in Loughran’s quality. This time we had a party of 5 all of whom ordered the prime rib. What an enormous difference in each of our servings. The range was from rather small to quite large. Some of our party were satisfied but two were very disappointed. I was one. My serving was undersized, tough, and fatty. Most definitely not worth the $ 20 tab. The Internet that night advertised the prime rib special at $ 15.95. And no more salad with the meal. Add to that, slow service and a pronounced«run down» aura, all adding to an accelerating sense of decline. Time to move on.

We had the Prime Rib and Pork Tenderloin. Both were excellent and large portions. Some of he most flavorful food I have had in awhile. The atmosphere and service were OK. We would definitely go back if we are in the area.

I was there recently the food was the worst I’ve ever had. The service was extremely poor. I’ve been there years ago a whole different place. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I would not even give this place half a star.

I’m not sure how Loughran’s hasn’t been reviewed yet, after all, it’s the Hudson Valley’s Happiest Irish Pub! Maybe I’m considering a lifetime of happy memories here in my review, but Jim and the gang at Loughran’s really do a great job. The restaurant is decorated with Irish memorabilia and has a dining room to the left and a bar to the right. They have catered our high school functions and other local events and I’ve been to several birthday parties at the restaurant. They have plenty of good beers to choose from and a huge prime rib that my dad and his buddies like to order. My mom’s and my favorite are the crab cakes with lobster sauce and everyone loves the Schunnemunk Mountain mashed potatoes. Go enjoy some Irish food and good company, it’s one of my favorite hometown spots– they catered my wedding rehearsal dinner! :)

This is an old school Irish bar, which looks and acts the part. Beer selection is decent, and I like their booths in the dining room even though they’re so damn low to the ground. They have a surprisingly good bread basket, with white, a darker bread, and Irish soda bread, the latter of which is sweet and addictive. Service is friendly and very efficient. They’re famous for their prime rib and chops, but I had a tooth problem so I had to get something a bit less rigorous. I got the Irish chicken curry, which came with the curried chicken and onions, steamed broccoli, and rice mixed with lentils. The chicken was very soft and the onions were in long strips, but the sauce wasn’t nearly as flavorful as it could’ve been; it was more tart than anything. The portion was also a bit small next to the amount of rice given and especially the other dishes my family got. The broccoli was ok, but the rice was really good. Cooked al dente and with added flavor from the lentils, the rice was better than the rest of the dish. My family’s corned beef and steak seemed a lot better, which makes me feel somewhat bad for the low rating, but this won’t be my last time here and next time unless I break the rest of my mouth I’m getting a steak.
