The 1 star is for the service. I work for a local health care facility and was asked to check this place for a catering event of 100 employees. I showed up, I told the person behind the counter, I had never been there-​hoping she would introduce me to the menu, etc. instead she just stared at me from behind the counter. Did not offer suggestions, nothing. Just stared back at me. I asked about the cookies, she pointed to the cookies, blabbed off the choices… I randomly picked 3… paid and left. Poor customer service. So unwelcoming… this bakery Just lost a big catering order…

Our lunch at The Bakery Station was wonderful! The service was great — very friendly — and the sandwiches were amazing. The freshly-​baked bread was a good addition to the great combinations offered on the sandwich menu. We looked up lunch spots in Salinas on Unilocal as a stopping point on our road trip and The Bakery Station was the winner. Glad we tried it!

Just came in for a sandwich with my mom… I got the Bel-​Air and she got the Igniter sandwich. Both were so delish! I would definitely recommend, plus the staff was super nice and the place is very cute. :)

Hole in the wall sandwich place. I had the pesto panini sandwich, which was the only vegetarian option, but it was tasty. My friend had a Bel Air and it was so large she could only eat half. Serving size is large. Price is a couple bucks more than a Subway but the quality is superior. The interior is small and the service is minimal – you order at front and pick up. For the service, the prices seem a bit high, which is why I am giving four instead of five stars

Co-​workers rave about this place but I didn’t like it. Tried two different sandwiches. Service is a little slow, nice people but one didn’t know how to make something I ordered. Thought the bread was dry and almost stale it was so chewy. the meat was plentiful but the entire experience was too pricey for what I got. Probably won’t return even if a friend wants to have lunch there.
Don’t understand the good press. It’s a dumpy little bldg — still looks like a gas station from outside. Would much rather eat at the Salinas Donut Shop a couple blocks away.

This place is one of my absolute favorites for lunch. I always get the Bel Air because it’s amazing, the flavors explode in your mouth. I am certain that their other sandwiches must be amazing too. Their bakery goods are like something out of a Disney movie, huge and picture–
perfect and so, so yummy.
I also want to add that the place is ADORABLE and the staff are all so nice and friendly. I stop by here every chance I get, and you should too.

Always delicious. From the sandwiches, to the quiche, to the brownies, the cookies, the breads. Everything. The VW is a very healthy vegetarian or vegan option. The Tri tip on Friday is a treat too. The turkey bacon one is nice too.

I came here by accident today because I neglected to make my lunch this morning. I decided to grab something really quick so I did a random Unilocal search which led me to this place. I ordered the lunch special (½ a Bel Air sandwich with chips and a drink) with a chocolate chip/​oatmeal/​walnut cookie along with a protein bar (don’t judge me! I was hungry;) The sandwich and cookie were delicious! I will definitely be visiting this place again in the near future.
One suggestion – Get here early! The line wasn’t so bad when I first arrived. However, once I placed my order, there were a gang of hungry folks waiting behind me.

This is the second time I’ve been here both times I got the starter I got mine with veggies mayo and pepper jack cheese and it is fucking delicious! It’s a cozy little spot it has a home feeling the staff are so friendly I love it here!

Bel Air is a solid sandwich. Turkey, Bacon, Gouda Cheese, Trimmings, Chipotle Aoli on Sliced Sourdough. Is your mouth watering yet?
The crunchy bacon is a nice balance to the soft bread with the aoli spread. Big enough to share :)

The sandwich was real good, but the service was not. Very disappointed. Don’t know if the girl who helped me knows me from a past life and hates my guts or if she just hadn’t had her potty break yet? The worst dirty looks from the girl who helped me. This was my first time here and I was really looking forward to it, but due to the service alone, I do not plan to be back. I have more respectful places to spend my hard earned money at. Thank you.

I had the Supercharger sandwich and it was so delicious! Had different meats, from turkey, salami, and roast beef… lots of it! I couldn’t open my mouth wide enough to take a bite. I can usually eat half for lunch and the other half for dinner. I’ve even shared a half with my fiancé and he was pretty full with just a half.

I guess if you are a regular you get special treatment, I brought my son to try it out while we were ordering a man I think fireman from the conversation the middle aged woman had with walked in. She was talking with him holding her hand out to me for payment when I was still trying to order more items. She kept her hand out and I had to shout 2 times «and a cheesecake» before she paid attention to me whom she was suppose to be helping. Top it off the cake wasn’t even that good.

The Starter breakfast sandwich is huge and delicious! Loaded with bacon if you want it. They make all their own breads, and the brioche used in the breakfast sandwiches is perfect.

This is a really great little place. We liked our sandwiches a lot — we customized the Bel Air a bit (no bacon, on the baguette) and it was very tasty — and huge! We split one for lunch, which was the perfect size. I was impressed by the quality of all the ingredients — the bread was excellent and the greens were a really great touch. We couldn’t resist the Mexican wedding cookies (in great colors!), which were very good. I also like that there are some breakfast options — we tried the yogurt + granola cup.
Also the people working were SUPER friendly and very nice — I would definitely stop here the next time I’m in Salinas!

Quirky deli in an old gas station. Take a moment to browse the photos in Unilocal for the deli as they capture how truly amazing the sandwiches are. If you leave hungry something is definitely wrong. I was able to finish half of a Bel-​Air and am considering feeding a hungry third world nation with the other half.
In addition to the deli they have some great baked goods to include scones. I am not usually a scone fan but their chocolate chip scones looked so delicious I had to buy one. It was as delicious as it looked.
The customer service was great. service was fast and friendly. Seating and parking is limited but city parking is conveniently nearby. The prices are higher than you might expect from most delis but the food is anything but most delis. Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys great food.
