Old Town Deli & Cafe

Fast and delicious lunch spot. They make all their soups from scratch and offer a pretty diverse menu. I usually order the chicken teriyaki bowl & ask for extra veggies. It is hot and a little bit peppery — just right for a cold winter day.

Their sandwiches are chock full of meat and other ingredients. Their bread is fresh. Their prices are super affordable.
You pay at the counter and so it is easy to buy one of their large-​enough-​for-​two-​people sandwiches and bring it to a table and share.
Some of their sandwiches are like a man-​sized meat-lover’s meal on a plate. Like the open-​faced roast beef. Comes with a heaping portion of tender roast beef and generous gravy but you can get a side of mashed potatoes. I’ve never tried it. I’ve only seen it on other customer’s plates because I’m not a meat and potatoes person.
But that’s part of what makes this place good. Their Veggie sandwich is huge. Avo, and other veggies. It comes with pickles and mustard so I usually just get the pickles on the side. The bread is fresh and healthy-​tasting. I usually order wheat.
Other items I’ve tried are the egg sandwich, and burger.
My company always orders the turkey sandwich. No processed deli meat here, it is fresh roasted turkey and they usually give an ample portion. On the last visit she said it wasn’t as much as usual, though.
Outdoor seating on a nice day makes this a perfect spot for an affordable lunch.

Ate her once and I ordered a Turkey Sandwich with Potato Salad. Both were good ! I’ll be back to try more :-)

This place is everything the Bakery Station is not. Lots of choices plus homemade soups — a nice selection daily, and not all dairy based either. I love their chicken salad — the sandwich is huge! They are very accommodating — If you want the hot dog split first then grilled they’ll cook it that way. they make the food pretty fast so the line moves along quickly. Serve yourself refills for soft drinks, ice tea, etc or choose something out of the case. Sides include potato or pasta salad, or treat yourself to the well appointed salad bar.
The only down side is the limited dessert items but for fresh food like you’d make yourself, this is the place. Real wooden tables, magazines to read thru if you’re alone, and a couple outside tables for the nice weather days.
This place is a real treasure and if I could get out of my office more often for lunch, I’d eat here every week. Too bad it’s only Mon — Fri ‘cuz I’d go there on Saturday’s too.

The sandwiches here are solid. Tasty and affordable and good service. The sandwiches taste homemade vs formulaic, e. g subway. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Came here after jury duty and had a roast beef sandwich on french roll. The sandwich was delicious. The staff was also friendly. If I lived closer I’d probably eat here for lunch at least once a week. Can’t wait to go back.

What I like about this place is the ambiance and customer service. The sandwich was good, but this was a nice little cozy place to have a meal. I wasn’t disappointed and next time I’m in town, I’ll bring a friend.

Tried this for the first time yesterday. The sandwiches I got were very good. All condiments were fresh and it wasn’t the nasty processed meat you get in some delis. The salad bar also looked completely fresh and amazing. I will say that there weren’t any signature sandwiches that had a little something different. And the bread is the weak point. It’s not fresh bakery bread. The price is probably fair for the freshness.

The quest for a really great pastrami sandwich in Salinas has ended! Old Town Deli has the elusive trifecta of great food, great staff, and great prices.
The place is cute and clean inside and has a few tables for outdoor dining. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Good deli sandwich. Enjoyed the tri tip on sourdough. Customer service was impeccable! Only 4 stars because I would love a small side for $ 9.75 for a sandwich and small drink.

Stopped in for lunch while working in salinas and got a great tri tip sandwich at a good price with friendly service.

Sandwiches are simple but tasty, and the pricing is pretty good. I’ve always taken my sandwich to go, so I haven’t taken advantage of the salad bar.

Returning up north from a long drive and starving! I was craving a burger and the girlfriend was craving a sandwich, so I came across this place as a happy medium. I’m glad we ended up coming here! I ordered a medium cooked cheeseburger which was huge and well flavored and the girlfriend got a steak sandwich. I think they were out of potato salad or something at the time so the lady at the register let is have free reign of the salad bar to compensate… And this salad bar is no joke! Great selection of condiments fresh veggies and toppings and an array of options to choose from to create the salad of your liking. The service was fantastic and the lady that helped us was really sweet. We don’t pass through here often, but I’d recommend the place to anyone.

Delicious! Burger cooked perfectly the lady walking around I presume is the owner was super sweet and friendly new regulars by name and remembered what they liked on their sandwiches. Potato salad just like grandma used to make it and I only waited about 10 minutes for my food. Great small shop with lots of charm!

Thick slices of roasted chicken. Slices of red vine ripened tomato. Local fresh lettuce. Delicious I tell you. A bit pricey but hey they roast and grill their own meats. Ham, turkey, beef, and tri-​tip. Damn delicious sandwiches. For sure will return and have them toast my bread and recommend smoked cheese.
