Moonlight Pizza packs a lot of good stuff into their small location in Salida. Located on the corner of 3rd and F Street, it’s just a block over from the Main street shopping and art district. The inside has more seating than you’d expect if you glanced from the outside — several 2 and 4 person tables, as well as a bar for customers just in for the beer. We have been wanting to try Moonlight Pizza for a while, as we come to Salida every chance we get during the warmer months. Our visit didn’t disappoint. I ordered one of their breadsticks, that is a very generous size, and CB and I decided to split their meatball sandwich. The cheese was nicely melted and there was a good amount of veggies, and a zing from some fresh jalapenos. We will definitely return to try their pizza and beer. I’m particularly excited to try their handcrafted sodas.

+ Pizza. A slightly chewy sweetish crust. Big flavor in the toppings. + Beer. 8 different ones brewed right here. I enjoyed the 2 that I drank. + Service. Very friendly with a hint of hippie. + The lunch special: slice and beer for $ 4! + Wi-Fi. + Atmosphere. Warm: temperature and ambiance. + Patio. — Crappy, low rent flatware. — Napkins are too thin and small. The best day/time to arrive here is at 1350 on a Tuesday. You have 10 minutes to order the lunch special(slice and beer). All day Happy Hour.

We were here for The Gentleman of the Road stopover and things were crazy and busy the entire time. However Brena, the bartender at the time took the time to ensure we were filled on drinks abs good the entire time. We did a beer sampler which was great! Growing up in Colorado and with the multiple breweries I have been to this one hung with the best for originality. We then ordered the Full Moon pizza which hit the spot for a late lunch! All in all an awesome place to hit. Would definitely come back for sure.

The pizza here was pretty damned tasty. I hadn’t had real pizza in a long while, and I had enjoyed some of the finer Colorado things prior to visiting so there’s a chance that’s skewing my opinion, but I was a big fan. Their beer was okay… nothing to write home about, but good for a place that tries to make both pizza and beer. Dat pizza doe…(dough…) was spot on. Light and fluffy on the inside, nice and crispy on the bottom… nailed it. That said, if you like a true thin crust pizza, this is not the pizza joint for you. We ordered a medium T-Guns and a Large Full Moon. The T-Guns is a strange combo with the cream cheese and all, but it worked for me. We liked it a lot more than the Full Moon… it seemed a bit unbalanced, with too many competing flavors. More of a «hey let’s just dump all this stuff on a pizza» offering rather than a thoughtfully constructed pie. We also shared a large house salad with the honey balsamic dressing… it was a good value if you’re in a salad kinda mood, and you can’t go wrong with honey balsamic. For beer… the cream ale is cheap. Forgettable, but cheap enough to not care. If you’re into beer reviews, check out Untappd for the latest.
