Just want to eat some sushi– not a bad choice. Sushi is not spectacular but there is a variety and I enjoyed the shrimp cake. Customer service needs some work. Not a bad experience, but would rather give my money to a place that is more welcoming. Just my thoughts.

A great place if you are ok with conveyor belt sushi. Moderately priced with tons of coupons that come in the mail and cheaper lunch time prices. They are consistent, which I appreciate. My friends and I come here every couple months or so and some times I come for lunch.

Very good value for the money. Great variety for a conveyor. Friendly service. I will definitely be back.

I love sushi kyo! It is very convenient not having to wait for your food to be made as the belt has many great choices available. Is some cases you may want to order something off the menu if it isn’t on the belt and they will make it fresh for you. My favorite is the crab salad roll and I also enjoy the Salem roll. The mochi is a fun dessert item that you should try at least once.

This has become our go-to sushi place in the area. If you enjoy fried sushi, highly recommend trying the Salem roll. Conveyor belts are fun and entertaining. Service has consistently been good. If you can, come during their happy hour when all plates go for one low cost(call them for current times). If you can’t make it during happy hour, keep an eye out for coupons in the Salem area coupon mailers.

I really liked this place, granted the sushi is not the best or most inventive, but was much better than the price paid for each plate. As a tip if you have never been to a «track» sushi place. How it works is there is a conveyor with plates on it carrying different sushi, each color is a different price(all under 3 bucks) when done they simply count how many of each color and charge. The one item I will give a special mention to is the shrimp tempura, was not expecting such good shrimp for the price, breading was more of a fried shrimp breading, not the super light breading, and was delicious

The sushi is the best in Salem, and the price is right. Only recommendation… one of the staff makes me feel totally unwelcome… does not smile… like she’s mad or somethin’.

Went yesterday for the first sushi outing ever and first time here per recommendation of a friend and loved it! The plates were reasonably priced and so good! I looooved the squid roles that looked like orange peels and even smelled citrus like, so good! I had a red octopus that was great, and a lovely spicy salmon role that was fresh and so nice! The most expensive plate their on the belt was like 2 or 3.45 I believe so its all affordable ! The only con here and why their was 4 stars is because they don’t offer free refills and for a tiny ass can of Dr pepper priced at $ 1.35 they should at least have unlimited cans or get a machine soda dispenser like a normal restaurant and get with the program. I thought those cans were sold to go and I was confused when she brought over a can with a cup and told me you only get one and got to buy a second if you want a refill. water is free but I don’t want water! But all in all great customer service too!

This is pretty standard belt sushi. The sushi chef will make things to order, just ask the waitress or waiter.

Not too shabby. Came here on a whim for dinner with the family. A few dishes I didn’t care for as they weren’t up to par(tasted old/reheated) for the most part our meal was good. Would give it another try. Their chocolate cake dessert was amazing.

This place has great prices, but the line product isn’t always perfectly fresh. I’ve had one experience where the cook brought me four orders of potstickers that were frozen in the middle and the waitress was very rude when I politely sent them back. That incident was over a year ago, and it’s definitely an isolated incident. As I said, sometimes their line rolls aren’t perfectly fresh, so I always order the rolls I want, and they make them right then. Wow. Talk about TASTY! And the staff is very nice too! I come here a lot and I will always go back!

Best price and best quality sushi in Salem. Always quick friendly service with a smile. Happy hour is amazing and me and the wife can eat for less than 20 bucks. Whenever anyone mentions sushi, I take em here.

Love everything here!!! I ate 10 plates myself when I went. People that complain about it not being good because it’s different from what they ate in Japan is silly. Of course foods in the native land are better. To me, this place is affordable, fast, and convenient. Give it a try! My favorite is the seared salmon and seaweed salad :)!

What a HORRIBLE experience. I have frequently gone to Sushi Kyo for the last 5+ years. I stopped in today to fix my sushi craving. Boy was my visit a major disappointment. I arrived around 5pm, and was happy to see that the place was not too busy. I found a seat at the counter and picked a plate of sushi from the passing belt. I grabbed a second plate of sushi, and then began to mix my soy sauce and wasabi. I take a bite of sushi from plate #1 and it is room temperature. Obviously it had been making its way around and around the restaurant for quite some time, so it lost all sense of freshness. I tried the second plate of sushi-same problem. I know that not every plate can be fresh as possible, but I still expect the seafood to be below room temperature if not moderately chilled. Since I was not interested in catching a food borne illness from consuming warm seafood mixed with warm cream cheese and warm mayo, I declined to finish the food. My miso soup was alright, so I was willing to pay for that. I complain to the employee about the food being too warm to eat and me being worried of getting food poisoning, He replies to me «you expect the sushi to be cold?» I told him I would not pay for any of the sushi but would pay for the soup. He disagrees with me about the sushi being unsuitable for consumption and points to the people who are currently making more sushi saying how it is all freshly made right before my eyes. He still made me pay for one plate of sushi, because I had«taken a bite» from the plate– even though I had spit it out after. After being a long time customer I am so disappointed to have been treated this way. I will never return to this restaurant, or any of the other locations. I will advised everyone I know to stay away as well. If I could give 0 stars I would– but Unilocal requires at least a single star rating.

If you are looking for fresh sushi and friendly service, this is the place to go. I have taken most of my family and all of my friends here, and not once have I had a bad experience. While the Salem Roll is the obvious crowd-pleaser, I am head-over-heels for their nigiri. If it’s not fresh, they immediately take it off the conveyor belt and put out fresh plates. A plus? Happy Hour is from 11:00am — 4:00pm. Every. Day. As if the prices weren’t decent enough!(They also post coupons to their Facebook page.) I only hesitate to recommend this restaurant for fear that it will become too popular for us to fit in a visit.

Husband and I love eating here! They place a coupon in one of the local circulars to save money off the total bill, but even then are very reasonably priced. The Salem roll is awesome!!! Lots of choices for the most adventurous to the sushi novice!

Something important to know: «Salem Roll» You can request a full roll and it is heavenly. They have lower priced dishes during happy hours every day 11:00 to 4:00. though all prices are very reasonable.

I love this place! when it 1st opened, I was scared to go in because I’d never has sushi. My Tia told me they had other things beside sushi. I gave it a try and actually had some sushi plates, I fell in love now this place os one of my regular lunch spots. Works out great, I live just down the street. One thing tho I Sometimes wonder what they are saying when they are starring right at you and speaking Chinese then all the rest of the cooks turn to look at you. 0. o One funny thing tho, sushi is Japanese food and when I assumed and asked ehat part of Japan they r from they laughed and said they are Chinese lol.
