while the quality may not be the exact same as this Hawaiian chain, the food is excellent. I can tell by the comments that people simply don’t understand this place. its the big table full of salsas to try that makes maui taco delicious. the tacos and burritos are average to below average. even by the water, i don’t think seafood is really the strong suit at the hawaiian locations either. go and try chips with all the different salsas. or get a burrito or something to dump all the good salsa onto. then you’ll realize the strengths of maui taco rather than expecting every taco place to taste like chipotle.

I don’t expect much from airport restaurants but this one is by far one of the worst i have experienced. I had the maui fish tacos and they couldn’t be further from fresh or authentic. The fish tasted like it was frozen, heated in a microwave and lazily assembled on a tortilla with lettuce, pre-packed cheese and a sauce that i couldn’t identify. The tortilla was so soggy from the thawed fish it easily fell apart when picked up. The nachos that come with the meal were served plain, and they lacked any options for toppings besides their salsa bar, that is unless the station was not re-stocked recently. The employees seemed like nice people but their service wasn’t outstanding enough to make up for the lack of quality food.

It really comes down to the employees that work there. I frequent the airport and have stopped by several times with every experience bad. They, the employees, are sooooo lackluster that it’s depressing. They look away when taking order, they have ignored when asked if a manager is available and, simply don’t do their job well. The salsa bar is often low or empty on stuff. The garbage looks like someone vomited on it(see image). The food? Eh, well it’s an airport so don’t expect amazingness… it’s the staff that ruins it.

I wish I would have read the reviews before coming here. Gross food. The salsa verde tastes like a mouthful of ocean water. That’s the only option they had. Skip this place and go somewhere else. Anywhere.

One of the worst burritos I’ve had… Overcooked rice, black beans were nearly non-existent. Two bites and it went in the trash …

Go anywhere but here. Absolutely terrible service, gross food, and a waste of time(not that we have much at the airport anyways). My fish bowl was mushy and bland, and it took way too long to cook.

Dirty. Awful service. Gross food. Go to anywhere else in the airport. I don’t know how this place is open.

Portions are large, but other than that food is awful. The beans are canned, the chips aren’t fresh, and the chicken appears to be that Tyson frozen chicken where they add the grill marks.

Don’t do it! Stop in at TGIF or DQ which are right nearby. Disappointed to say the least! The ‘marinated’ fish looks and tastes like it’s been thrown through a cheese grater then slapped on a stale tasteless flour tortilla. I only liked the verde salsa. The rice and beans were edible but I wish I hadn’t wasted the calories. I had combo #1. Only could eat half of one taco of the two that came with the meal. What a waste of 15 bucks… The Sprite was delicious but I’m not sure they get credit for that

Right by gate C4, is this great little Mexican place. Expect to spend around 8 to 10 dollars per person, but the quality is above and beyond that. My last venture here was breakfast time a few days ago. I had the Chorizo Breakfast burrito. Very good! I’m picky about my Chorizo, but this one passed my test. The ladies working were terrific and it was nice to chat with them while I was waiting for my burrito to be made. Anytime I have the chance, I will surely pop in to Maui’s again!

If I could give zero stars, I would. I guess I should blame myself partly for expecting anything resembling Mexican food to come from a restaurant in the Minneapolis airport. It started out wrong when I asked the counter person if I could get the tacos on corn tortillas, she in an Indian(not Native American) accent replied«Yes!» but with a sorta of blank, I don’t know what you’re asking, cheerful smile. The food : Let’s see, came on flour tortillas, when I pointed out that I had asked for corn(BTW there’s a picture on the menu of a taco with a corn tortilla) she apologized & said they don’t have them. I reminded her that I had asked before I ordered & she had replied in the affirmative. Her response«I’m so sorry, it’s very busy». Oh well. As I removed the fish & «Maui style» slaw from the flour tortillas, I knew it wasn’t going to get better, the tortillas were completely soaked & disintegrating from the fish, which obviously had been stewing in food warmer for hours, I won’t describe it further other than to say it tasted only slightly better that it looked, which was completely unappetizing. Let me put it another way, Taco Bell rules compared to this place. I do have a couple of nice things to say. For an airport restaurant, the serving was very generous, although you might think was a negative, since the food was sooooo… Not good? Also, the hot salsa was actually decent. Allowing me to eat my stewed fish & slaw. Would I ever go here again? Not if I hadn’t eaten for a day & it was the only place open.

Just like most airport food, this place is overpriced and it barely passes as edible. The only aspect that somewhat saves this place is that they have a sidebar that is sometimes stocked with onions, jalapeños, cilantro, and salsa to put on your food. Forget ordering anything but the basic burrito here(the only item on the menu that comes with free chips & salsa). You can load that plain burrito with onions, jalapeños, and salsa to give it some flair. The pineapple salsa and Hawaiian fire salsa are actually pretty good and make the difference between terrible food and edible food. The only reason I give it two stars is because my expectations for airport food are extremely low and this place is consistent. If this place was out in town I’d give it one star and avoid it.
