Demori’s

Tried to celebrate my birthday tonight. Your bar literally smells like cherry vomit. We couldn’t drink our drinks and your bartender is very unfriendly. Oh and your front door is m.I.a. and so are your urinals. Just sayin.. Hugs and kisses. It was bad.

Such a bummer, great looking bar, big tv’s, the beer I hoped for. Service was the worst I can remember in a very long time. My guess is we came in at shift change. 1÷16÷16 Saturday night at just before 6pm, 3 young ladies were behind the bar, I had to ask several times to have the sticky residue and crumbs wiped off the bar where we sat. We ordered tap beers and menus. Got our beers and couldn’t believe the dirty, filmy and greasy menu and insert I was holding, I should have known right there this was going downhill. After a few minutes and when the ladies finally put down their phones to check the bar one came over to us as we were holding menus still, asks if we would like to start a tab! Well, no I planned on paying for our drinks and food separate? A tad confused I said «uh, yes as I want to order food» She takes both of our menus, sets them with the others and walked over to a plate of pasta and started eating and looking at her phone again. What just happened?
Okay, as a former bartender/​server these things would never happen at the establishments I worked for, ever. The personality between the two bartenders was horrible I guessed the day time bartender was better at her job. So after a few more minutes and trying to get one of the ladies’ attention, (they kept munching on food behind the bar and outside of it too making it difficult to catch one of them and the phones were obviously very important again). with no luck we were about to give up on ordering food, our beers were down to the last sip and after that awful thirty minutes (there were 9 people at the bar) finally one notices our near empty beer glasses, doesn’t acknowledge that we might like to order still but just asks if we would like two more?
By then I was disgusted and starving and fed up, we asked for our tab for the two beers.
First time ever I didn’t tip the two dollars for two beers that I normally would, I left no tip and walked to Sgt Peppers across the parking lot where it was packed (opposite of Demori’s) squeezed into a two open spots at the bar, chatted it up with a regular while eating and drinking within minutes of arriving. The service there is what I would expect anywhere.

Solid bar food and beer selection at reasonable prices but what really sets them apart is their bar staff. Within 15 minutes They’ll have you feeling like Norm from cheers! Rod’s great and ask for the «Ron» a fantastic drink outright! If you’re thinking about stoping some where on your way home stop here!

I have been to this place about 15 times in the past year and every time I have gone the service was amazing and the food was even better! If you’re around when Sean, Shannon, or Amelia are bartending you’ll have an even better time. Great place and even better people.

i live in Oakdale and each Tuesday 6 friends and i go for men’s lunch, we have visited once every 6 weeks until recently. the food is hit and miss mostly miss the buffet is poorly planned and badly executed. The staff is a bit bitter and salty but all in all we would go back because it could easily accomadate 7 people and was always available [ read lack of diners]
the pizza rolls are great andthe pizza and burgers aren’t that bad the italian items seem oversauced and done without any pride. the capper for us was after stopping in one day and finding the restaurant empty the TVS all turned up to maximum volume and the one elderly longtime waitress told us to wait to pay our bills because she had a delivery to make. We waited 20 minutes while she went and delivered pizzas before she came back to get her money she was familiar with us and knew we were retired and not rushing back to jobs but jeez how disrespectful you would have thought the bartender could have taken our payment but he was pretty busy with the 3 bar patrons needless to say this establishment is no longer on our lunch rotation. good lively bar don’t expect great food but don’t be in a hurry. the 12 foot tvs blaring away on 5 different channels in a empty restaurant is a hoot DO NOT ASK to turn the volume down so you can have conversation — they actually can get louder– i suppose they keep them this loud so you can’t complain about the food.

The pizza is good, the hot dago is very good .
But the liquor inventory management is very poor. They have run out if Makers Mark 3 times since I have been here. Is it that tough to see that you are going through this particular item? It must be. Apparently they can only afford to buy one bottle per week. Then, oh well.
This is my last time at this location. I hope you all have better luck than I did. At least they corrected the bartender that paid more attention to her phone than the customers. That’s a good thing. Now if they just paid more attention to their inventory, this might actually be a fun place to go. The only standard is they share the parking lot with a hotel. If they had to be a stand alone bar. I don’t think they would make it.

Brought the family there and we were the only ones in the restaurant. We had the worst service! The French onion soup was cold, the baked lasagna was cold.
I’ve been going here since the late 80s when it was in Cottage Grove and has always been a favorite. Not anymore. :(

There are elements of this place that are good, like the nice young man who served us. The food was ok, but mostly left us wanting a better version of what we ordered. This place is generally run down, dark and not very inviting. The bathrooms were disgusting, someone has obviously been smoking in the ladies room, the video games for the kids were all broken, and we got a huge whiff of bleach fumes when they were clearing the table next us.
It was pretty obvious why this place is dead on Friday night when the place next door is packed!

Grew up working in a Italian & American Restaurant so I know what Italian food should taste like. I ordered the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo for me, Meatball Spaghetti for her, kids had Mac & cheese (looks like it came out of a Kraft box).
My DeMori’s visit was upsetting. My pasta was way over cook and too soft. The Alfredo sauce was tasteless and very oily. I shake my head at the food because there is no Gourmet in it. Maybe next time I’ll try the pizza, but then good pizzas are everywhere. If DeMori’s is around the corner, I say go try them out, but don’t hold your breath. If your driving to have an Italian dinner. Save your $$$. Same thing or better can be made at home from BUITONI’s … Not returning/​not worth it.

If you are in the area it works in a pinch. It was before a show at the carmike theater. My husband enjoyed his shrimp alfredo. I got the veal patty parmesean. A good size portion. It was a standard red sauce. I didn’t like the heavy generic Italian dressing for the salad. Service was pretty fast, we made it just before the Friday crowd. I like that the bathrooms are right as you walk in and out.

NTN power!
Much of this review will be lost on those who are not fans of NTN trivia. I am an NTN trivia addict. Usually play at a Bdubs or my local watering hole, Bo’s N Mine. Demori’s I would say is hands down the most nationally competitive NTN establishment anywhere within one hundred miles… NAY…three hundred miles of the Twin Cities Metro. It is not uncommon at all to see the bar score at Demori’s place in the top ten nationally and top threes are also frequent.
As I am an NTN diehard, not sure why I don’t stop in here more often. It is just a short frolic and detour off of my beaten path. I think part of it is the last time I was there a couple years ago, there was an obnoxious, old drunk barfly who wanted to talk my ear off despite the fact that he was being completely ignored. They really should have 86’d him… slurring his speech and stumbling around badly when he got up to walk.
Luckily, that dude was not here this evening. They had a crew of five each playing two boards. Seemed like they knew every question that I did and a whole bunch of the ones that I didn’t. They share answers here, so if you are looking to compete against your fellow bar patrons this might not be your cup of tea. However, I prefer sharing answers and competing for bar glory (especially, if the establishment has any free drink rewards for top place finishes… not sure if Demori’s does or not).
For you Unilocal foodies, I doubt anything here will knock your socks off. I could be wrong. Had the meatballs with cheese tonight. Not bad. I could easily see bumping this place up to four stars if I come back and am impressed by some of the other items off of the menu.
Tap beer selection could use some improvement. Nine choices by my count. Most exotic thing they had was the Brown Ale from the Brooklyn Brewery which is what I went with. The rest were some Leinenkugels, Summits and larger macrobrews.
I’m not sure about this, but I believe that Demori’s space used to be a Damon’s. If you are not familiar with Damon’s, it is a now dwindling chain that is really set up for sports watching in the main dining area. Several jumbo screen TV’s.
No lower than three stars for me here for sure. I will be back sooner to Demori’s next time for my NTN fix and to try some other items off of the menu.

Used to be good. Now terrible service will never go again!
We have been going to Demori’s for years. You could get good (not great food), fast service and consistent food. The last couple of times the food took way too long. Our last visit, we went last Monday. The bar had a few people in it and the restaurant maybe three tables. We ordered pretty basic food Beer, Spaghetti & Meatball, Meatball Dip and Kids Burger. The first problem was only one salad came out. After 30 minutes our server said our food was almost ready and would be out shortly. Another 15 minutes go by and we start looking for anybody so we can get our check and leave. My husband finds another server and told her we were done waiting and wanted our check. She said the food was almost ready (again) and didn’t we want it. We told her no we were tired of waiting and wanted our check so we could pay for the drinks. After a while our server and server # 2 came back and said they couldn’t comp the food, to take it off the check, and there was no manager around so we would just have to pay from the regular check. We gave them a credit card and she said she couldn’t take it because the bill would charge us for the full thing because no one could take the food off the bill. I said how about this, you figure out how to comp the drinks and we are going to just leave. I was so pissed at this point. When we went to our car, another person (server/​busser) followed us to our car and wrote the license plate down. I stormed back into the restaurant yelling at this person that if she was going to call the cops she better do it now because I had quite a story for them. I’m yelling at this girl telling her what happened and it’s there problem not ours. At some point a gentleman comes out of the kitchen and I tell him the whole story, turns out he is the Kitchen Manager and he doesn’t know anything about it. He says he can’t comp food either but he will take care of it. Two days later and I’m still so angry at these people.
