Carter Avenue Frame Shop

I have been purchasing art and having things framed at Carter Avenue Frame shop for nearly 20 years. Almost all the art in my office and my home came from this shop. I receive compliments from clients, friends and family about the pieces. The staff at Carter Avenue Frame shop is friendly, experienced and helpful. It’s like they read my mind when it comes to picking out frames. I recommend them to everyone. If you’re looking for art, they carry everything from posters to beautiful original oil paintings.

I decided to take a chance and bring one of my very favorite posters to the Carter Avenue Frame Shop. I am very glad I did.
As luck would have it, I got to work directly with Tim, who was professional and friendly. I appreciated that he understood how much the piece meant to me and didn’t in any way make me feel foolish or silly for having trouble letting it out of my possession at all. He kindly assured me that all of the pieces they had for framing work were stored in flat secure drawers until they were ready to be framed.
Tim listened to me, but was also not shy about making his own suggestions. He was as enthusiastic about preserving my print as I was, which I took as a good sign as well. In the end, I wound up taking his suggestion and boy am I glad I did. The finished piece is so great, pops so magnificently and is just about perfect.
I also liked (though some may not) that everything Carter Avenue does is archival — acid-​free backing and UV filtering glass, etc. I wanted that for this piece, and I was willing to pay more for it. But when I asked, Tim just told me that they do everything that way since the price is really not much more and the preservation is so much better.
In all I was super pleased with the work and the service. Now it’s custom framing, people, so it’s not cheap. But I felt like the price I paid was reasonable given the quality of the work and the fact that you’d pay 70% of that at Michael’s even with one of their coupons for less workmanship. Framing is one of those things where I believe that sometimes you should pay for high-​quality work.
Turnaround time was great. Promised as a week and I got the call that my print was ready in six days. I do wish they had slightly longer hours during the day or maybe even half-​day Sunday hours since it’s pretty much impossible for me to do anything on a weekday from 10 – 4. But this may not be an issue for others.
In all, I was really pleased with everything and am sure we will be back. And how am I the first person to review this place?!?
