Dengler John Tobacconist

I frequent about 5 tobacco stores in the St. Louis and St Charles area and this is tied with one other as the top one. The selection and the old time shop are amazing! Stop in, you will not be disappointed!

What a great tobacco shop! I needed a couple of new blends for the pipe so I decided to check out John Dengler. I am so glad that I did. Once you step through the front door it is like stepping back in time. The shop is small but very nicely stocked for pipe and cigar fans. I really like it as it seems that their focus is on the pipe while many tobacco stores seem to have pipes and pipe tobaccos as an after thought. The bulk tobacco prices are very reasonable and the service is fantastic! If you are in the historic St. Charles area definately stop buy and feed the briar!

Nice cigar shop with great selection. John Dengler gave us a brief history on his landmark building and the awesome fixtures. It is a must see.

In the area on business, and always like to find new pipe tobacco/​cigar stores. John Dengler Tobacconist was close to the hotel I was staying at so I dropped on over after work one day. Extremely pleasant and helpful owner, Larry, helped me select several tobacco samples and a few cigars. The store itself is a bit on the small side, but he has cigars tucked away in side lockers; if you ask about a certain cigar, more than likely he can go right to it, or recommend something similar if he doesn’t have that particular one. Can’t wait to get home with a little warmer weather to sample the pipe tobaccos. Even if I can’t make it back to the area soon, he says they support mail orders as well.
Looks like he had a very nice selection of briar and corn cob pipes to choose from as well, in addition to lighters, humidors, cigar cutters, etc. Would definitely recommend dropping by if you are in the Saint Louis/​Saint Charles area!

Tobacco shop on St Charles Historic Main Street:
Top notch selection of pipes, pipe tobacco and cigars. Step inside the aroma is the best. Say hello to the cigar Indian guarding the front door.
Cigars range from well known Cohiba to private label stuff. Pricing for cigars seems high but the location and uniqueness of the place makes up for this if you’re buying only 2 – 3 cigars.
Hand written receipts, antique giant size cash register, the whole experience makes you think Mark Twain is in there somewhere.

Great selection and great prices. This is what a Tobacco Shop should be!
