I had brought my Brother sewing machine to another authorized Brother repair shop in south St. Louis and was quoted $ 100.00 to repair what they referred to as a «simple fix.» Since I spent only $ 115.00 for the machine, I declined. While there, I asked about what other machines they had for sale, and the saleswoman did a half-hearted job of showing me the other machines within my price range(I told her I could go as high as $ 500.00 or so). I got the distinct impression she was looking down on me because I had bought such a cheap machine in the past. I walked out without buying a new machine, and with my old machine still unfixed. I called American Sewing Machine and described the problem with the machine to Mike. He agreed it was a simple fix that required a simple part and told me to bring it in and he would order the part and fix it for me for about $ 10.00. I brought the machine in, and while there asked about machines he had for sale. He graciously showed me what he had to offer, and I ended up buying a new one for just over $ 500.00. As soon as my «old» machine is fixed, I’m giving it to my sister for Christmas. Thank you, Mike! American Sewing Machine has won a new customer!

My machine broke while sewing, but I wasn’t sure if it was worth it to fix it. I called American and took it in for a free estimate– more than I’d hoped to pay– but the owner then suggested some no-cost alternatives to try. How kind and considerate is that! Highly recommended.
