First time I have enjoyed eating Sushi. I would do it again. Very nice experience. It is expensive but was worth it.

The food was excellent. The portions are huge. The chef was very friendly especially to my son who is autistic. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come here again.

Very good Japanese place. This is the older one in town recently in a couple years expanding to the place next door to provide more tables . By far the best cook there goes by Sam. Be sure to buy him a drink or two !

This is our go to Japanese steakhouse. Amazing food and service. When sitting at the sushi bar we have been treated to experimental food by the chef. When at the hibachi tables we have been entertained by very personable and great chefs. Their mayo based salad dressing is to die for! Their seafood is never over cooked and still tender. I’m craving their fried rice just thinking about it!

Save your money. Drive to jax or daytona. Place is not that good. Very dated, average food, loud and no atmosphere.

Please do not bring(special needs) /autistic child to this restaurant as you will be asked to leave. Autistic children will not eat more than a limited menu and new things scare them. We were going to spend at least 65 to 75 dollars; far more than the menu states at the bottom of 10 per. However, the manager states that special needs are not his concern and that other people may want to bring outside food. I have eaten with this child in many restaurants(in at least 5 states), yet this imbecile will not allow for my child. The food is good here, I liked the show; however it will be a cold day in Tartarus before I ever spend a dime here. Your policy needs revision as do your manners toward those with special needs. Note: my child sits quietly and eats without mess.

We live in south Florida but every time we come to St. Augustine we come here. Outstanding food. Our cook was funny and cooked delicious.

If you are looking for a fun and engaging hibachi experience, look no further than this place! Visited here while vacationing in St. Augustine, but it seemed to be a spot for both tourists and locals alike! I had sushi while everybody else in my party had the hibachi, and both were excellent. Very extensive sushi menu with some unique options. Be prepared to wait a little while, even during the week, but it is definitely worth it.

Best hibachi and sushi in Saint Augustine hands down. Sushi bar was a little tight but the tastiness of the roll made up for that. I would like to see a little updated décor and creativity in the menu. Overall this is my go to Japanese

I have eaten at multiple Japanese restaurants, given its my favorite type of food. The meal was ok, it wasn’t the worst Japanese I’ve ever had, but it wasn’t the best. I paid more here to eat dinner than the best Japanese food I’ve had. They charge extra for fried rice? $ 2. I’ve never been to a hibachi restaurant where I was charged extra for fried rice. They didn’t inform us of this extra charge either. During our meal the waitress was no where to be found, so therefore we weren’t offered any drink refills. At the end, the checks were brought to us and the gratuity was automatically added at 20%. I am a server myself, so I always tip more than 20%, for good service. But given we didn’t see our waitress during a 30 – 45 min meal, I don’t think it’s acceptable that we are«required» to pay 20% tip. Tips are supposed to be at the judgement of the customer. Overall, I wasn’t pleased with the customer service of the restaurant and I would give the food a 3.5÷5 at best. I honestly never complain but I felt it was necessary to voice the hoax’s they pull on people.

Found this place on vacation and it has become the standard for which we evaluate all other Japanese Steak Houses. Our kids loved not only the entertainment factor but the food too! So far none other has compared.

We had the sushi and it was very ordinary sushi — nothing special and a little expensive for what it was — need to find a real Japanese restaurant in this area.

Mikato has been absolutely the best and most consistent Japanese restaurant in town for at least the last 10 years that I’ve been going! We love getting it to go and staying in during the week. Favorite items are spicy tuna chopped salad(with seaweed salad), sandy roll, St Aug roll, and of course the delicious fried rice and shrimp sauce. It’s a must for locals and tourists!

I’m not much into this kind of food. The guys that cook are very entertaining but it’s always the same show put on for you. I do love the steak and shrimp with refried rice.

This place is always outstanding! We eat at Japanese Steakhouses often, and by far, this is the BESTONE!!! We always get the dinner for 2 special which includes filet and shrimp. The portions are HUGE and you get a lot for your money. We always order a fried rice to split, but if you prefer, it does come with white rice. The service is always great and the cooks love to entertain. If you have a party of 5 or more, 20% grat. is added, but hey, they deserve it. They do a great job! Make sure to get the mayo dressing on your salad… best around.

I’d been here 2 other times, but that was over 2 years ago. I wanted to give it one more try. The high point was the appetizer. We got a seaweed salad and a cucumber salad. The seaweed salad was good. The cucumber salad was great. It had excellent fried shrimp, cut-up on a bed of thinly sliced cucmbers. But you have to know to dig for the dressing. It is an onion and vinegar based taste sensation. The rest of the meal was meh. I asked the sushi chef on arrival what he recommended. He said tuna and salmon. Only the salmon was worthy. Here’s what we got and how it was: Tuna — average Salmon — above average Yellowtail — below average Masago w/quail egg — average spicy tuna roll — average Fusion Point is a better choice for sushi in St Augustine. Btw, the place did undergo a renovation and expansion since I was last there. They have more room for the hibachi crowd but given the sushi I had, that’s probably best. It was pretty cool that you could watch the hibachi chefs doing their thing while eating in the sushi area.
