best sushi ive had in my life. by far. cannot recommend highly enough as an ethnic food lover

The sushi is the best around and so is the Udon. There is no other Sushi bar in Pinellas county or even Tampa that is as good as this place plus the owners are some of the nicest people who are Japanaese and Korean. I have been eating their food for years and it allways stays consistant and I have never got sick like other places have made me.

Excellent sushi place! Must try the crunchy lobster roll! The owners are super sweet and take really good care of us!

Had shrimp tempura udon and a tuna roll… Oh my goodness. It was perfection!!! I’m very picky about udon, as some places make it bland or overly salty. The happy salmon? BEST SHRIMP UDON IVE EVER HAD. The broth was absolutely delicious, flavorful, and somewhat smokey. The tempura shrimp was cooked perfectly. I want a bowl of udon every day now!
The tuna roll was absolutely delicious as well. The roll had a great ratio of tuna and rice. The tuna was fresh and very red. The sushi rice was seasoned perfectly. I cannot wait to come back ! :)
Came back a week ago (²⁄₁₁) for more awesome udon and sushi and it was still amazing ! The udon is definitely the best I’ve had in forever!

So disappointed in the service. Waited for an hour and a half for three rolls. People came, ordered, and left and we were still waiting. If you know someone you get served quicker apparently. Good sushi when it came but there are too many good local sushi places around that have good service. Unfortunately that will be my last time in the Happy Salmon. I hope it works out for the best for them! I am a local and love to see Main St. flourish!

I was blown away by the quality of the food at Happy Salmon. Everything we tased was amazing! The steamed dumplins were fabulous, the eel was so fresh, the spicy tuna hand roll was so delicious. Bottom line, this place is awesome and the staff is so friendly! Love love love!

You guys! I am so excited to leave a review for this restaurant! So, it’s my husband and my anniversary weekend and we came here to Safety Harbor. We wanted to eat dinner somewhere within walking distance to our resort, and we love sushi, so we chose Happy Salmon. Just a short, 5 minute walk down Main st, past all of the adorable little shops and restaurants, lighted palm trees, and town gazebo… we arrived at Happy Salmon. We walk in, seat ourselves, and the super friendly owner comes to bring menus and take our drink orders. The menu he gave us mostly showed just the sushi, but on the wall was an off the menu menu… Udon, tofu, edamame, ginger salads– the usual. My husband and I each chose an Udon bowl (huge! We will share next time!) house salads, and we shared 3 sushi rolls– dynamite roll, California roll, baked salmon roll.
First, let’s start with the salad. Where we come from in Ohio, all of the Japanese-​like steakhouses serve the EXACT same ginger salad. Mostly bland, with a small amount of ginger flavor. The salad at Happy Salmon seriously cannot be beat. It was twice the size of what we are used to, and the dressing was made fresh as we waited! Oh my goodness, so delicious.
Next, our udon bowls. They came with 2 (I think prawns) huge prawns or shrimp, tempura style and the broth was almost TOO good. The owner gave us a shake bottle of his spicy Japanese pepper flakes to put on the udon noodles, and it was just right.
The sushi. Ahhhh, the sushi. THE absolute freshest I’ve ever had. I grew up knowing what good sushi is, because my grandma is Japanese. This sushi beats g-ma’s! The rice is cooked perfectly, and the ingredients are super fresh.
With the food being so delicious and the owner being the sweetest man ever, we’ve already decided to go back for our anniversary dinner tomorrow!
Update: Came back for the second night in a row. Just as delicious as last night! Let me add to my first review by saying this– this is all made from scratch. The owner, Tony, and his wife greet, serve, and cook. If you are looking for a place to get fast food, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a place where you can sit, relax, have a nice conversation, talk with other customers– then stay! This is the perfect place for all of that! But, please, do NOT complain or make a scene like the 3 annoying people that were in there tonight. You made complete fools of yourself in front of a packed restaurant, and when you left everyone cheered. The Happy Salmon is better off without your group wanting an excuse to get free dinner.
On to the green tea cheesecake– I didn’t expect this to taste good, but was pleasantly surprised when Tony brought this out for our anniversary! It has a slight green tea flavor. It’s both sweet and savory. Delicious!

The food and hospitality are wonderful. The proprietor is extremely thoughtful and generous. The cleanliness and ambiance are perfect. Quite a little gem of a restaurant.

We stumbled into Happy Salmon and were not disappointed! I am a little bit of a sushi snob, and I can truly say they delivered. The portions were extremely generous as were the wine pours and the rolls were packed with flavor.
Tony could not have been more welcoming and even offered to make us whatever we liked even if it’s not on the menu! This gem will be a favorite local spot, no doubt.

Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. Every time I eat here I am greeted with warm and hospitable service, followed by a crisp cold Asahi beer. Soon to follow is what I would call ‘ridiculously fresh’ meals. Whether my taste runs for spicy conch rolls or the popcorn lobster roll, the vegetables as well as the fish always tastes fresh as can be. Another weekly craving I get is for the Udon noodle bowls. Thick, chewy noodles in a simple and sublime broth, it has almost become a weekly ritual. I have to shout out to Tony and Heeya. They are a professional and friendly team that make this place a cherished stop on any gastronomical tour of downtown Safety Harbor.

We are coming here
once a week. We have been looking for a while for a good sushi restaurant and are so happy that Happy Salmon opened his doors in Safety Harbor. The sushi is absolutely delicious, freshly made by a wonderful chef. They have a good selection of wine, beer and all kind of sake. I can also recommend their hoemmeade dumplings. I can recommend this restaurant to everybody!!!

Come back the 2^nd time since they moved far away from us and the sushi is still fabulous. So glad that they got the place for their own and the whole place feels like authentic Japanese sushi bar

Such a wonderful atmosphere, you walk into smiles and being welcomed, sincerely! Just newly opened location, and so happy they’re here. Generous portions with fantastic flavor!
You definitely need to come in and give this place a try!!!

I am absolutely infatuated with their sushi. I have been following the owner for over 5 years. SHE’S literally the best sushi chef in the area. My fiancé’s favorite is the firecracker roll (which is #1) and mine is the Stacy roll! I cannot eat sushi anywhere else!
