Once Willemina’s, this venue is now THENECROPOLIS. It hosts very cutting-edge Gothic-Industrial club events such as DARKNESS and STEAMPUNK Balls. I love the patio area with the HOOKAH bar. $ 10 gets you hooked up wit a hookin hookah for da night! I spent my NYE here as we heralded in 2010. Most recently, I saw German Industrial über-rockers SLICKIDIOT(the reconstituted KMFDM) a few Mondays back. It was a fun night to remember!

Bought out. WTF? I have been here a few times. I played three punk shows here and each time was slightly different, but still fun. The first time we played with some rockabilly bands that were pretty fun, although not a lot of people showed, but the crowd there was pretty cool. The owner who was also bar tending along with his wife was a really cool person and we got a long real well. The place is almost like a basement, in which you have to walk down a flight of stairs to get in from the front in old town Sac. The back is a much better entrance and the place on a whole is pretty spacious. The back entrance has a big patio and is also street level, which is great for loading in gear. The stage area is a bit lacking for full space, but the stage is adequate for a three piece band and is basically an over sized drum riser. The sound system is pieced together and sometimes lacking in power, but the good nights, it was booming loud. In the daytime, they are a full fledged restaurant with steak and chicken and a decent menu. They serve the bands that play there free meals as part of the deal to play, which is cool, because the food is pretty good. The first night we played, they had a really good roast chicken and rice dish that still sticks out in my memory today. After that I also had chicken strips and a a few burgers there as well. The cook is pretty enthusiastic about what he does, which definitely shows in his meals. The second two times we played there were larger punk shows, one with the U.S. Bombs and the other with the old school punk band, FANG. Those nights they had the back room open and there was a decent spread of hourderves, fruit and veggie plates and chips and salsa, etc on top of the free meal from the kitchen, and a lot of beer ranging from PBR tall boys to Corona. There were couches and female groupies alike. This club treats its bands well in the backstage area. For the latter two shows, the place was packed and the fans were rabid. There was a nice slam pit going on and the crew working were on top of security, so it never was too out of hand. We were the opening act all three nights, so our crowd was not as big as the rest, but if I start another band, I wouldn’t mind playing here again. I hope it isn’t really gone. One can dream can’t I?
