Yes, this is a snapshot review as this is the only time I’ve been here. The wine and snacks are overpriced(a small bowl of fancy popcorn for $ 6) but that is somewhat expected at an airport facility. The main reason for the 2 stars is atrociously non-friendly, non-attentive service from the server, a older bald gentleman, who gives off the vibe that waiting on others is somewhat beneath him. Probably a wanna-be sommelier.

This is my favorite place to go while waiting for a flight! They have a nice assortment of local wines and craft brews, as well as choices from elsewhere around the world(e.g. Burgundy, Chile, Tuscany, etc.) The service is always fast and friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable, which is perfect before a long flight. I don’t often get the food, but the times I have, it’s been very good. They offer everything from cheese and meat plates to interesting salads and sandwiches. With prices from under $ 10 a glass to upwards of $ 30 a glass, they offer quality wines that will fit any budget and also satisfy the most discerning connoisseur.

Very nice little wine bar at the airport. Had some time to spare before my flight and decided to drop on by. Tried a new wine that I loved, and the staff was very attentive.

Trust all the positive reviews. This place was so good I felt like I was in some remote bistro. I completely relaxed and had to remind myself I was in an airport and I could not miss my connection. It might have been the wine. Hahaha. The wine was good. I’m aggravated that they don’t do samples and instead charge for 3oz tastings but hey it’s the business of wine. I get it. The food was good. Great quality. The signature salmon plate was delicious and light. Perfect for travel. The olives were also plump, zesty and downright delicious. Pardon me while I slump back in the corner with my tapas style goodies and forget about my itinerary for a while.

I have to fly quite a bit for my job and I have been absolutely murdering my retirement fund eating within the airport. I have been making an effort to avoid the costly airport food and my wallet has been happy. Well delays happen and I was stuck at SMF long past when I should have landed at my destination. Off to Vino Volo as the concept had always intrigued me. I started with a wonderful local wine from Lodi, a 2013 Petite Sirah from Peltier Station and ordered their signature dish of Smoked Salmon Rolls. The place was pretty packed but the server was very friendly and was helpful in assisting me to make my wine selection. My flight was called to board so I took my entrée to go. The smoked salmon was layered upon a crabmeat salad on top of a croccantini. It came with mixed greens, cornichons and lemon wedge. The salmon married well with the creaminess of the crabmeat and once I added a spritz of lemon wedge and the tartness of cornichon I had a nice bite with flavor and contrast. The entrée was tasty but even for a airport brutally expensive($ 15). I enjoyed my experience but I think I will continue to avoid the monetary bomb of eating at the airport.

Description: Vino Volvo is a chain that offers a welcome respite from the airport chaos. The one in the Sacramento airport is no different. With an hour to spare, this is a nice respite before boarding your plane. Though small, and the tables are usually packed in, it still gives a somewhat similar feeling of an airport lounge. Location: Vino Volvo is located in both terminal A and B. We visited the one in Terminal A. Décor: The décor is minimalistic but classic. It is slightly upscale and is perfect for a quick wine tasting. Menu: The food options are limited but designed to complement your wine selections. They offer small appetizer plates mostly of cheeses, crackers, olives, and nuts. Wine: My husband and I found the wine flights we selected were tasteful and varied. I always opt for the sparkling choices and I felt they had a good range provided in the flight. My husband tried the white’s, and really liked two out of the three. Service: Our service was impressive. Our server was knowledgeable and very friendly. Final Thoughts: For those of us who look forward to relaxing with a good glass of wine before a flight, and because Sacramento does not have an airline lounge, this is a great alternative. The tastings are reasonably priced for the quality of wine that they serve.

Overpriced, teeny weeny portions, smaller than cat food, and taste very lacking! Only redeeming point is their service. Had an evening flight and didn’t get anytime to eat before going to the airport. Decided I needed some booze for a long day at work, so got one of their wine flight as well as a few small bites to eat. $ 50 later, I was still starving. Everything was tiny, and didn’t really taste good. The salad was very plain and so was the mac and cheese which was $ 10. The smoked salmon bruschetta was decent but for $ 10, I got 3 pieces of tiny bread accompanied by 3 pieces of even tinier salmon. Wine flight was ok, nothing to rave about. Service was nice, but really not worth the money spent.

When your flight is delayed by two hours, what better way to spend your time than at a Wine shop! Vino Volo is a nice little shop with enough tables for about 20 patrons. They have friendly servers that are pleasant to deal with and knowledgeable on the various wines they serve. Prices vary and range between $ 8 a glass to $ 30. You can order sliced cheese as well with your wine. A great stop before your flight.

The food was great, but there was flies around and the manager did make up for it. Great food, great wine!

Wines by the glass and a nice selection of unusual appetisers. Sure, a little pricey, but definitely top end for airport food and drink.

The wine flights and wines by the glass were high quality and affordable ~$ 10 each. Considering you are at the airport where everything is inflated I found this more than acceptable. The staff was very efficient realizing people are there for a limited amount of time. Little disappointed there weren’t more local wines to show off what amazing wine country Sacramento, Amador, and El Dorado counties have to offer. Pro tip: Order the cheese plate, it is delightful!

With my recent uptick in flying, I’m looking for nice places to spend time before I have to suffer well on that damn plane! This place is incredible! Great selection of wines and upper end snacks. My Sunday ritual here is a couple of amazing mimosas and a nice plate of charcuterie, to go so you can finish it on the plane. Try a flight of wine and take one you love with you to your destination. If you’re a cheapskate don’t bother, you’ll just complain about the price! If you want a nice experience before cattle call Southwest boards you into a stuffy hot plane, you’ve found your spot.

Considering we’re club members and they charge premium prices for their wines and snack we got and awful cold, perfunctory welcome and service. Almost snobby and certainly tortoise service. On future trips we’ll skip this VV shop and get a glass of wine on the outgoing flight.

I rarely find good places to eat in airports. Most just fall short. But occasionally, you find a rare gem that shines through. Enter Vino Volo at Sacramento international… First of all, they open late — till 9pm, while all other places close down. Huge comfy chairs and nice table, wifi, music, chargers for your electronics, and of course, great wine & food tasting menu. It’s perfect to kill time before flight, catch up on emails and writing, while sipping good wine & snacking on marcona almonds. Chilean wine was outstanding at right temperature, and charcuterie board was delicious. I can get used to this. I gotta look them up in NYC airports now!

Abhorrent customer service. The waitstaff has zero interest in waiting on you. Why should it take 10 minutes to get a glass of wine when the place is not terribly busy? Pure laziness.

There’s not much going on by way of food options at SMF airport, so I was happy to see Vino Volo right by my gate. I sat here for an hour or two and ordered a wine flight, olives, and their smoked salmon crostino. I can see myself doing this every Thursday I find myself hanging out at the airport.

I love this place very classic and high ended. Glass of vine with some smoked Gouda pasta always sounds good to me .the only bad part was the bread warmed up in the micro wave ohhh please don’t do that ! All the rest excellent love it!

Here on a Monday night and they are out of almost everything. All they had were the olives, almonds, charcuterie, tomato soup and salmon rolls. Service was pretty bad– service was pretty scattered and I could hear a microwave in the background. I probably won’t be returning– this just wasn’t worth it. So sad because I was really looking forward to their food and their nice wine list. I ordered a taco and a glass of the signature malbec. The wine was good. I’m pretty sure the taco was just heated in the microwave. Kind of wish I didn’t sit at the bar because I could see one of the servers spraying tortillas with a spray bottle. I guess you can’t expect much from an airport wine bar.

Well I guess it is about time to write review about Vino Volo. We usually come here when we waiting for our flight. We always sit in the corner table, while we can charge our laptops and phones. We usually get Brie & prosciutto sandwich, Tuscan chicken sandwich, truffle penne & cheese, beer, and champagne flights. I personally think it’s better than the food court area :)

The wine selections there are plentiful and very well described. The food menu is very simple but the taste is not, absolutely delicious! Especially with few glasses of Cabernet sauvignon. The bartender/server is absolutely the best part of this great bright environment! She made everyone relax and enjoy their timely meals with their pretty-looking drinks! Absolutely a definitely if you got time around SMF airport!

Vino Volo(Italian for«wine flight) is located in Terminal A. I usually fly out/in from Teminal B, so I didn’t discover this place til now. It seems that the wine bar is an airport based chain. I didn’t drink any wine like my friends, but I tried their signature dish– smoked salmon rolls(served with crabmeat and crostini). It was good. I was still hungry though, so I wish I had time to order something else. There were several items that stood out. I definitely recommend this place to travelers.

I got stuck in the Sacramento airport for FOURAND A HALFHOURS! This was on my way from Denver to Eureka, but somehow the best option was to go DIA to SFO and then to Sacramento for FOURAND A HALFHOURS… ugh. Anyway, like at most airports, I was able to find a sports bar with the incredible deal of $ 10.50 per 16 oz beer. After my first one I decided to take a lap around the surprisingly small Sacramento Airport to see if there was anything better. Enter Vino Volo. At this joint, you can buy a whole bottle of wine for a slightly marked up price(I got Layer Cake Cab for $ 22, usually like $ 16 in a liquor store) and then you can pay a small bottle opening fee and just drink it in their store. They have amazingly comfortable chairs and I sat there for about 2 hours and enjoyed my bottle of wine while I read a book. They are also well known for their wine flights, but it’s a better value to find a cheaper bottle buy it, and drink it there. You can take it with you when you’re done unless your flying to LAX for some reason.

What a fantastic place to spend time while awaiting a flight. This wine bar has the most comfortable cushioned seats in which to relax and use the free wi-fi. They have a nice selection of wines and multiple wine flight options. In addition, there is a yummy menu including gourmet sandwiches, a cheese plate, pasta, and more. A champagne wine flight with truffle pasta 60 feet from my boarding gate? Uh, yeah! While you’re sipping your beverage and reading the latest novel, check out the large bottled wine selection available for purchase. As may be expected at an airport wine bar, the markup is quite a bit higher than your local liquor store. But maybe after your second wine flight you won’t mind. :-) Vino Volo is not just a stop in the airport before a long flight — it’s a destination. I was fortunate enough to be very early for my flight so I could spend a good deal of time in comfort with my wine and food. I highly suggest planning to arrive early so you can enjoy VV while those less informed choose to sit on metal fast food chairs smeared with catsup.

I have recently found these places and I am not sure why I have just flew by them while I have been passing by… first off not the cheapest in town for wine, but if you chose their wine flights they are actually a pretty good deal. Recently in a big lay over I actually think I took the entire tour around the wine flights. I also love the customer service in these places especially he ones in Sacramento and the OC. Very personable employees that are very personable. On my last visit I was so hungry that I decided to try some of their food options… I am a big olive fan but they do something special with their olives that you will have to try. Don’t want to let it out of the bag but it it pretty dang good. Plus they have a Brie sandwich that well you will have to try that as well… It’s nice to have a place in the airport travel life to unwind and relax and be somewhat civilized… just disappointed it took so long!
