I’m quite impressed for this local ice cream shop as I traveled to this finest place this afternoon on 2÷1÷2016. For this decades old ice cream shop since it’s officially opened and established on 2÷2÷1947 which Vic’s turns 69 this year, Vic’s Ice Cream brings Sacramento residents(near and far) a bound full of joy creating the most, incredible homemade ice creams, sundaes, floats, and many more especially sandwiches, burgers, and drinks too! The atmosphere is very light and warming filled with delightful customers. The concept is very mid 20th Century diner feel keeping this place very vintage and classic without leaving it’s style. The employees are doing an excellent job for making the customers like me a remarkable service. No cons at all. For my treats choice, I ordered one of the 20+ ice cream flavors called, «Peppermint Stick» in a single scoop cup. As I take my first bite, that ice cream totally wins my vote! The Peppermint Stick ice cream tasted very minty and flavorful as I can feel the crunchy pieces of peppermint. Of course, this ice cream is very silky smooth and elegant to eat after I finished my cup! What a satisfying ice cream dessert! Parking at Vic’s Ice Cream shop can be challenging. You can park at the nearest surface street on 8th Avenue on the right of the building. Otherwise, you can ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. In the end, Vic’s Ice Cream is the finest local ice cream shop that I’ve ever visited right in the Land Park neighborhood. Perfect for family and friends gatherings all season long! A worthy visit! My rating: 5 solid stars.

Classic Americana. The American Soda Fountain is of a bygone era. Vic’s keeps the tradition alive with everything you need to remember the past and make family memories of your own. Love the ice cream and the Reuben or Corned Beef sandwich. Always a crowd pleaser for the kiddies.

Solely based on SERVICE I, regretfully, have to give Vic’s two stars. My boyfriend had ordered a birthday cake for me three days ago and asked the worker to include, «Happy Birthday Stephanie» on it– unfortunately, when we got home, the cake was bare! When we looked at the receipt, the area under«messages» had something scribbled out in black. I decided to call Vic’s and let them know what had happened and the worker offered me a $ 4 credit back to my boyfriend’s card. While that was a very nice gesture, what’s the point of spending $ 22(originally $ 26) for a blank BIRTHDAY cake? Sort of defeats the whole purpose in my opinion. The cake was delicious but, with the bad service we received, I probably won’t be ordering any more cakes from here. If I do, I’ll be sure to double check it before leaving!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Vic’s! Vic’s ice cream is family owned and run. Its the best neighborhood/corner place to grab a cone, or other delectable ice cream creation. The seasonal flavors(depending on the time of year) range from Jix Jax to Nutcracker Crunch. They cover the«four» seasons with«cool» flavors. The boysenberry sherbet is light and flavorful. The egg nog is rich and will help you ring in the holidays in style. I LOVE the cherry amaretto. Its chocked full of cherries and almond bits. Its a total taste sensation. This is coming from the girl who love everything chocolate. Speaking of chocolate, the peanut butter cup is a chocolate lovers dream. Copious amounts of peanut butter enrobed in luscious creamy chocolate ice cream. If peanut butter and chocolate doesnt call your name, and you’re looking or something like strawberry, go for it. Your tastebuds will be met with creamy strawberry flavored ice cream and pieces of berry. You can’t go wrong with any of the flavors. If you’re not sure what flavor you really want, they will even let you sample a flavor or two. They’ve recently expanded the corner shop, and now there is more room for large groups, lunch, or just grab a seat to enjoy your cone. Vic’s is perfect any time of the year!

Eggnog! Every year I look forward to Vic’s eggnog drink mix. I’ve tried Gunther’s(also good, and both way better than the grocery store eggnogs), but Vic’s is my favorite. I never liked eggnog before. I would politely accept it when offered from a host or hostess, but never had more than a sip to confirm my dislike — until 5 years ago when I discovered Vic’s mix. Not too sweet, the right amount of nutmeg, I can’t and won’t say no and will be sad after its all gone… until next winter.

Forget about Leatherby’s. This Sacramento landmark has good food and fantastic ice cream. The cherry amaretto ice cream is crazy good. It’s either Vic’s or Gunther’s no other ice cream will do.

Legend has it that the guy who makes the ice cream at Vics spend 15 years living in the Swiss Alps perfecting the art of ice cream crafting. The moment you take that first lick of any of Vic’s flavors your tastebuds will send you into a state of euphoria that is otherwise unattainable within an earthly realm. It is said that a single milkshake from Vics will make you immortal and grant you the ability to transcend time and space, which is a pretty good deal for only $ 6.25($ 5.25 for a small). But be forewarned brethren, once you embark on the holy delicacy that is Vics Ice Cream, all other frozen treats will peril in comparison and you will be caught in a vicious cycle of lies and self-destruction, trying desperately to re-experience the initial rush you once attained. Also try a cheese dog sandwich YUUUMMY!

I have been here several times, and the ice cream is pretty good, although I have had better. I was disappointed in the chocolate and coffee flavored ice creams. It wasn’t very chocolaty. I make homemade ice cream and I have to say that my chocolate ice cream was much better. I had there coffee ice cream too, and it was just so-so. I just wonder if they changed their recipe recently.

Best milkshakes in Sacramento! I adore their rueben on rye, and the chips with red sauce are so addictive. Nothing comes close to this lovely parlor(I’m looking at you Gunther’s). Absolutely love this place!

Ice cream is good, but not as creamy or rich as Gunther’s. The ice-cream is icier but still tastes good. They serve a generous amount of ice-cream, which is a plus! I definitely like the interior much more than Gunther’s because of more seating availability. Also, it’s connected to Vic’s Café which is awesome if you also want to get some coffee or pastries. I would recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

I love vics and frequent it often being in the land park neighborhood. Ice cream is great… only complaint is that I think they could do better cleaning the ice cream scoop between scoops. Might sound crazy but I hate mint ice cream and more often then not i feel like my ice cream tastes like mint from someone before me(i know its a very popular flavor)

I live really close to this ice cream shop and finally got to try it out! I got the cup of joe ice cream on a sugar come. Not bad for $ 3.25, the scoop was HUGE! The ice cream was super creamy and smooth, I ate every last bite. The location is pretty good but parking is kind of hard! I like to ride my bike here instead to avoid the parking. When I came inside there was a huge crowd of people standing in front of the door and realized it was the line! The register is literally directly once you open the door, which kind of sucks because you can’t get through, you just have to become part of the crowd! Once I got to order my ice cream we luckily found an open table(only about 5 tables inside) but the whole time we ate the crowd at the door never went away because the registers location is so bad. Leaving, we had to squeeze between the crowed to exit! The ice cream is super worth it and it’s a great spot!

Absolutely in love with this place. Every time I visit family in Sacramento, my family and I will stop by Vic’s ice cream, no matter what time of the day it is. Vic’s Ice cream has been here for years. My dad use to live near it when he was little and started taking my sisters and I here when we were in elementary school. The ice cream parlor is located on the corner of the street. You have to park on the street which can be busy during peak lunch hours or hot days but it’s not too bad. The short walk you may have to make is 110% worth it. Vic’s looks like an old fashioned ice cream parlor with checkerboard floors, bar stools at the counter, and s simple black and white menu of flavors. The ice cream itself is delicious. Prices have gone up since my very first time here but it’s still not going to stop me from paying a visit when I’m in Sacramento. The serving size is pretty large and the ice cream is creamy and thick. My favorite flavor is the muddy mocha, but everything is pretty tasty. They also serve food but I have never tried it. There always seems to be a lot of people eating their sandwiches, so they must be pretty good.

The employees were friendly and even though there was a line we got through pretty quickly. I ordered the Lime Soda with Phosphate. The waiter said they really don’t have phosphate but instead citric acid. So why do they have phosphate sodas on the menu? Phosphate soda is a type of beverage(served in a chilled soda fountain glass) that has a tangy or sour taste added to the drink that enhances the fizziness of the carbonated water ~ making it delicious. The phosphate drink was the most popular drink at soda fountains for over 70 years, sadly, phosphate has disappeared! I decided to order the lime phosphate soda anyway with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it. To my dismay, it was served in a paper cup vs the cold frosty soda fountain glass. It didn’t have much fizz at all and was warm!! When the waiter asked me how it was, I told him it was warm even though it had a scoop of ice cream in it. His response was, «well yeah the water is warm but, I thought the ice cream would chill it. You just drank it too fast» Say what!!! Definitely not the best ice cream soda fountain experience and will definitely not be ordering a «phosphate soda» from Vic’s again. So disappointed.

I get that this is an old place. Had I done this review after only going once, it would be one star. Anytime I have a negative experience on the first go, I like to go back again just to be sure. First of all, it’s tiny. Everyone is lined up out the door, because there is no logical set up for them to take orders. Your order is taken literally at the beginning of the ice cream counter, without the chance to look at the different ice cream containers in the case. When you’ve got kids, this doesn’t go over too well. On our first and second visit, the employees all seemed like they would rather be anywhere but here. As to the ice cream itself, absolutely delicious. But this is definitely not going to be our go to place in the future, simply because of the rushed, inconvenient ordering and the tiny, cramped space. But if you don’t care about how you order and just want awesome ice cream, this is the place for you!

Hands down my favorite place for ice cream in Sacramento. My favorite flavors are mocha chip, cherry amaretto and toasted almond. The milkshakes are amazing as well. I usually order the kiddie scoop because there’s a lot of ice cream. They are known for their sandwiches as well. I always come here for ice cream or Gunthers. They recently opened a café next door as well. Seating and parking can be tricky though. Once it gets packed, the wait can get long but so worth it!

My family loved this old time ice cream parlor experience ! We took pur son here as a special treat!!! It was a treat for all of us. This place was packed but in a good way, the kinda way that lets you know that you are in the right place! We got to sit at the bar and watch all of everyone’s ice cream orders get made. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The woman helping us o er heard me say to my son«I know the whip cream and nuts is your favorite on strawberry ice cream» when she delivered his she made she his had extra whip cream and nuts. The smile on his face was pricesless as he looked at the sundae he knew was all his! Thank you to this place for keeping an ice cream parlor a traditional ice cream parlor!

The boo swears this place has the best milkshakes. So I gotta give it the test. I will admit it is pretty damn good. I drank the whole large shake like it was nothing lol That was lunch for me! The mom and pop old school vibe makes this place pretty great. Will definitely go back for another chocolate shake.

Great place for ice cream to go! Their single scoop costs 3.25 which just recently went up .50. If you get a single scoop in a cup; it’s like getting a double scoop. My other favorite flavors are peppermint stick & chocolate. I grew up not too far from Vic’s. When I did get A’s in my report card we used to get our complimentary ice cream cones. They are also known for their suicide drinks which tasted a lot like cherry soda. Omg… I can go for that right now. Plus their toasted hot dogs with potato chips. If you have big gatherings, you can pick up ice cream cakes and pies here as well. Love this homey place; they are definitely a staple in Sacramento’s Land Park.
