Tropicana Club

Only getting one star because 0 is not an option. First over priced 30 dollar cover charge. But my girlfriend got in free. Inside the club was small dark and dirty. A hostess asked us if our group of four wanted a table. We said yes she seated us and asked us if we wanted two buckets of corona for the table included for an additional $ 100 dollars we said no she said then the table is only $ 50. This was not a VIP area just a regular bar table. There is no seating of any kind at all at this bar. Our group danced 3 songs to ear piercing trumpets. Then we walked out. To add insult they lowered the cover to $ 25 just as we left. Just don’t go.

They do false advertising I do not recommend the place. My friends and I whent through so much trouble and there poster said it will be 18+ friend was excited and when we got there it turned out to be 21+. They should get their planning straight before releasing any advertising.

Quite a few of my underage escapades were spent here on friday nights. It was primarily ratchet hip hop music with the sweaty crowd grinding all up on each other. I believe now its mostly reggadon with the occasional artist having a show here. Most definetley not the best place to be in sacramento but wilk suffice while you are under 21

Okay so now it’s my turn to talk about the Tropicana. I came for the Philthy Rich show that night, the 8^th of January. I totally enjoyed my time. The music was great. Love the fact that they have a large dance floor to the left of the stage, the huge mirrors are a plus.
I noticed the stripper poles, where I left no mark on. Drinks the bomb. I only had the Jello Shot (might have been that they were only a buck) I tried both, the green and the red ones. I prefer the red ones, quite delicious.
I only heard about the venue through the artist Media Networks, Instagram (@PhilthyRichFOD) I do believe. I heard some of my favorite songs of his, The True Religion Shawty is definitely a keeper. The only thing that could have been better was when the artist kept transitioning from a couple of songs.
I went out back passed the VIP area to the outdoor smoking section to hand out flyers for the NBFE3 coming out on the 21^st of January.
What was really cool was how he shot his video there. So everyone that showed up got to be in his music video.

I started coming here often from the time I was 19 and I really Love the music and the large dance floor, I always have a good time and feel I got my moneys worth, sure you get all sweaty and sandwiched between lots of people, but that’s all part of the clubbing experience. The dJ’s are always playing the best hip hop and reggaeton. I will definitely be returning. :)

The place was packed and had great music. Wanted to dance to each and every song. Love that people on stage throw free stuff to the audience, not just the front people but sides and far back! They have given away shirts, cds, and a plastic beer keychain taht light up. I love how there was a mix of latina music and club music.

I’m going to make this short and sweet.
Came here for an electronica show. It was amazing. But… well drinks were $ 5.50. Cans of Corona were $ 5.50. They didn’t have diet soda. I was pretty irritated by all that.
Worst part of my experience? The show was supposed to go until 2:00 AM. The headliner was from the UK (srsbzns) and they cut the bass and hit the house lights at 1:20 AM during his last song. Everyone was weirded out, but we danced on. He finished, tried to talk through his mic to the crowd, and he was turned off. He had to yell. We encouraged him to perform an encore, because he’s amazing. He starts the encore, turns his monitors towards the crowd, everyone’s getting really excited and bam. They cut the fucking power to the entire show at 1:30 AM.
I am going to take it upon myself to approach the members of the next group I see at this venue to make sure they know what time the show will be ending. I would say that I’ll never be back, but they have some awesome shows lined up. Bummer.

Came here for a Kweli concert back in January and NEVER again. What do you mean I can’t blaze in here?! It’s a freaking Hip Hop show!!! So yeah I was sober all night long LOL. So wack

If you want to meat Mexicans guys/​girls and dance in a crowded dance floor, where you get all sweaty (and i mean REAL Sweaty) THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!
I went here a couple of times and I dont know why i went back the second time! It was so damp in there! ppl are all up on each other and they’re sweating all over you… and ITS CROWDED AS HELL! ewww

when I went I was charged $ 15. The paying process is DUMB!!! you get a ticket, litterally take ½ a step and then turn it in to the box office (a black box with a window) then u pay and take ½ more and ur in. Its a JOKE!
