THE SETUP
The creative brainchild of my friends Shane & Janette McDaid, Forbidden Orchid is an exquisite hideaway where those who want to enjoy live smooth tunes of incredible music artists, great company of friends (both known and unmet), fantastic drinks, and even the occasional sexy firedancers!
Like the Barons & Baronesses (note: I’m talking REAL Barons & Baronesses, NOT Unilocal barons & baronesses) of the Romantic Age of an inspired Europe — whom created a sheltering, nurturing environments in their Salons for artists, musicians and creative thinkers such as Delacroix, Chopin & Liszt — the McDaid’s have outdone themselves in creating a «Salon» for the 21^st Century with a decidedly exotic California twist (lime-​twist, that is!)
MUSICAL ACTS
The talented artists that come through Forbidden Orchid’s doors are as varied as the seasons, and have included the smooth croonings of the deep resonance of George Clemens, and the wonderful playfulness of Bellygunner.
THE DRINKS
This is a Tiki Lounge afterall, and so RUM is very much a favored beverage among the mixes. But that’s not to say Tequila, Vodka and Gin don’t have their star-​power here as well.
What is fun is that everyone gets to take a turn being bartender for everyone else and — whether following a predetermined mix, or making some creative concoctions — there are some pretty tasty moments to enjoy until the wee hours of the morning!
I have to admit that I love it when my sweet friend Bambi mixes her speciality — we know we are in for a great night!

In terms of local low-​key, intimate environments, this is my new favorite!
