I initially contacted River City Rain to completely redo my backyard. New lawn, sprinklers, fence, retaining wall, etc. Daniel came out and was very thorough answering all my questions in great detail. The quote he provided was by no means the lowest, but after speaking with him in great detail I decided to go with River City Rain.
They completed work today and I could not be happier. Although I had to cut some of the items I needed done due to other expenses that came up, I will definitely be calling them in a couple months to finish my backyard. If you want a honest, dependable, and high quality landscape company then I recommend River City Rain. You will not be disappointed.

This small irrigation & landscape company deserves a 5-​star rating from a very picky homeowner gardener. A child of organic farmers and retired landscapers, I’ve attended gardening classes by U.C. Master gardeners and a Water Efficient Landscaping Workshop sponsored by the Sacramento Suburban Water District last April. I searched recommended lists for a river-​friendly, water-​wise landscaper who could convert/​upgrade my irrigation system; replace my front yard turf with appropriate plants and ground cover; and meet qualifications for irrigation upgrades and turf replacement rebates from the water district and Dept of Water Resources.
The husband & wife irrigation specialist & landscape designer duo are very knowledgeable; communicate well with customers; have a well-​organized written contract; use quality irrigation, plants & lighting parts; back their work & make return visits as needed; lead a dedicated & hard-​working crew; and respond in a timely manner to customer needs. I would not hesitate to wholeheartedly recommend River City Rain for your landscape needs. They completed my landscape upgrades in early November, just in time for some badly needed rain.

I found River City Rain on Angies LIst. We contacted multiple landscape companies. Gave each a general ‘wish-​list’ of what we’d like done — and provided our budgetary limitations — prior to scheduling an estimate. Other companies said ‘no-​problem’, set up an appointment, came to view the property — still acknowledging the budget and stating it wouldn’t be an issue… only to end up sending us an estimates for between 6,000 and 8,000! River City Rain actually listened. Let us know what they could do within our budget — and furthermore let us know right then that if we were able to raise our budget a bit, there was a lot more they could do to make it a first class job. Work hasn’t been performed yet — nor have we gone over the final plans — but if you want a company that is actually going to LISTEN — and provide suggestions within your budget. (What a concept, right?) Well — yesterday (⁴⁄₂₇) their crew arrived and got straight to work. While I wish we were financially in a better position to get more /​larger plants put in, Kathy was fantastic and gave us some great advice on future adds /​placement & plant type.
