A wonderful dining experience. The service was excellent and food was delicious! We highly recommend the Fish and Chips and the Flourless Chocolate cake!

I came to the Pilothouse Restaurant with a few other Unilocalers to have breakfast before attending a YEE in Old Sacramento. We got there early(before 10am on a Sunday) and easily found parking in Old Sacramento right across the street from the entrance. Score! It was starting to fill up, so I wouldn’t recommend coming any later. If I wasn’t with people who knew what they were doing, I would have never known there was a restaurant inside this boat! But we walked on the boat and down the hallways(watch your head!) and got to the restaurant a little before our 10am reservation. I was surprised at how packed it was inside but we were quickly accommodated upstairs with a booth. Being Vegetarian(and not an omelet eater) I chose the Brioche French Toast with no meat. Our server, Anita was very accommodating and gave me an extra slice of toast to substitute for the meat. My only complaint about the menu, is its very limited for Vegetarians/Vegans but the menu is on the smaller side. The French toast was great, nice and fluffy and cooked perfectly. No complaints! I couldn’t really tell it was brioche, but that’s just me. Regular syrup came with it. I also ordered a Bloody Mary(my first ever!) which came in a nice large glass. Not unlimited, but it did the trick. It really hit the spot, and had great flavor. I also liked how you could taste the alcohol in it too so you knew at least you were getting your money’s worth. The view from the boat was great, the inside was so cool and I really enjoyed the unique concept. I would give 4 stars for the service, 4 stars for the atmosphere and 3 stars for the food. I would definitely come back next time I’m in the area to give them another shot, possibly for lunch.

Enjoyed a scenic, sunset dinner here with the Grilled Asparagus starter, a shared Caesar salad, and entrees of Lentil Bolognese & Seafood Risotto — all very good. The Rib-eye Steak & Pork Chop are also reportedly tasty choices. Good service, nice wine list, frequent water refills, and a classic, old world setting. Many historic photos and interesting items to check out during a leisurely stroll around the riverboat. Adjacent bar area is also a fun place for drinks and appetizers. Recommend a visit when in Old Town(especially during sunset)!

Well my New Year’s Eve plans are ruined. Thanks to the The Delta King and their Pilothouse restaurant. I was notified via email yesterday at 5:30pm that my reservations for tonight were cancelled(even though we made reservations 4 months ago) because we made them through OpenTable. I spoke with the manager last night, and explained that it is our anniversary dinner as well, and he was unapologetic and claimed they had tried to reach us before, however, we never had even one voicemail. Now we have nothing to do unless we want to pay over $ 155 a person to have dinner at Pilothouse still. How horrible is this place to do that to us the day before our dinner? Update: Manager called me after my post, but basically they said they can’t do anything.

We stayed at the Delta King one night and were given the free coupons for breakfast. We got to the Pilothouse and were seated quickly. Our server was extremely nice and she’s pretty much the reason for the two stars. Plus the fact that it was free. First off, the free meal was regularly about $ 16. If I had paid $ 16 for the meal, I would have been pretty mad. The sausage links were cold. The country potatoes were mixed with too many seasonings that just didn’t make sense and they were not good at all. The muffin tasted like someone took a dry muffin, deep fried it and then dipped it in sugar. The eggs were actually not bad though. And the coffee was tasty too. But I’m not sure if that was just because it was so cold in the restaurant that I was just grateful for the warmth. But it was free! So that kind of made it better? Just don’t get the bed and breakfast meal if you actually have to pay for it. Go to Denny’s or maybe pay the extra money to get another meal and it might be tasty?

We came here the day after Christmas, for a family breakfast. We have eaten here in the lounge for lunch, to enjoy the view. Those experiences have been good. Today, we were greeted by a friendly hostess, who seated us right away, in the Pilot House restaurant. There was only a few people eating in the restaurant. Our waitress Crystal came over, and took our orders. We made a menu change, and it completely frustrated her. Attitude… whew! You did say, «order»? We did, and she said she couldn’t because the menu did not offer it that way. I will pay whatever it costs, to eat what I want… We settled, just so we could eat. We asked for water, she didn’t bring it. the delivery person had to get it. We had coffee, that she didn’t refill, and just basically provided really poor service. Keep in mind, there was now only 9 people in the entire restaurant! The service in the lounge was always Excellent! The food today was cold, nothing worse than a cold omelet! The potatoes were old, hard, and dry, and to top it off, the restaurant was FREEZING! The hostess had on a coat and scarf, as well as the other diners. The 2 star rating, is for the hostess, and food delivery person! They were Great! We will eat in the lounge again, but will NEVER eat in the Pilot House restaurant again! Denny’s has much better service and food! Just no view… If you have never eaten here… the lounge is always a winner, with killer views!

I made a reservation a few days in advance. I was really excited to experience dinner on a ferry boat! I showed up a few minutes early for the reserved time and the hostess sent myself and friend up the stairs to the bar area. I didn’t know why she sent us up there, the reservation was made for the Pilothouse. The bar was really cramped and super hot and stuffy, so we asked to be seated where we made reservations. The hostess of the bar walked us down to the stairs where we first came in and into the dining room. There were at least 20 open tables and only two couples eating at the moment. She looked around and then didn’t seat us. She looked confused. She took us back out of the dining room and back to the front desk again. Then she went to talk to another staff in the back, about what… who knows? She came back out and said she wasn’t sure where to put us… SOWELEFT! I never got to try the food. The experience was really awkward. The restaurant was not that nice anyway, there were stains on the carpets and chairs. The place smelled musty. I won’t be going back.

On a fine Sunday morning, 12÷6÷2015, my Unilocal buddies(John H, Jenni T, Karen & Kenneth K, Michelangelo and her friend Bambi) and I were heading to this mini restaurant located inside Delta King called, «Pilothouse Restaurant.» This place delivers some good, authentic American foods right thru your guest table from breakfast to dinner. The atmosphere is very calmful and relaxing just like you’re living & riding on a cruise boat. The concept is very vintage made filled with wooden decorations, and fabulous outdoor patio too, so you can see the view of the American River and the Tower Bridge. The servers and cookers are doing alright for me for having a fine customer service. No cons at all. Now onto the food! I ordered a Delta Queen breakfast plate which it includes ham, bacon, onions, and bell peppers omelette, a homemade baked blueberry muffin, and chopped potatoes sauté. As I ate it, this plate is outstandingly good! The omelette tasted not bad as I can feel the flavors inside. Then, the blueberry muffin is also tasted surprisingly awesome! Very moist and flaky to eat especially eating the fresh blueberries too! Lastly, the sauté potatoes is defiantly enjoyable to eat as I can feel the soft bite of the potatoes easily. Not a bad breakfast meal at all! You can park it at the nearest parking garage available nor park at the surface street parking too. Otherwise, you can walk, ride a bike, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. In the meantime, the Delta King’s Pilothouse Restaurant is the finest, well relaxed mini restaurant that I’ve ever dined in for the first time! Perfect for friends and family gatherings! A well, worthy visit! My rating: 4 solid stars.

Watch your step and watch your head if you’re over 6′ tall. You’re aboard the Delta King — this is a boat, a paddler, an old paddle boat. This restored river boat functions as a hotel, restaurant/bar, and a theatre of sorts in the hold. Delta King Hotel( ), Delta Bar & Grill( ), Delta King Theatre, .and the subject of this review, the Pilothouse Restaurant. Pilothouse is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A tad more formal than the upstairs Bar & Grill(lunch and dinner only). I met up with some fellow Unilocalers on Sunday mid-morning before moving on with our day of shenanigans and laughs. We were actually seated in the upstairs Bar & Grill area, a corner booth, and great views out over the river. We arrived a tad earlier than our 10am reservation and were quickly accommodated. One of the most memorable things about this morning meal was our server, Anita. She ‘read’ us well and knew to play along. She managed our antics and sarcasm with return(gently) sarcasm and antics. She’d lay out the smiles and was lot of fun. Choosing my meal was instant — a bloody mary and the Smoked Salmon Scramble(came with potatoes and a blueberry muffin). Others had omelets and french toast. I really enjoyed the salmon scrambled with the egg and the potatoes were tasty and cooked perfectly. I did attempt, and succeed at, a reach-over onto a fellow plate for a bite of the Brioche French Toast… a puffy soft warm delicious bite. No complaints or concerns. A great way to start off our day.

A group of friends got together for breakfast this morning aboard the Delta King, which is docked along the Sacramento River in Old Sacramento! The restaurant the«Pilot House» is located on board the Delta King. Breakfast reservations were for 10:30 am this morning. Being a weekend, parking is usually crazy in Old Sacramento especially during Christmas. We arrived around 9:30 am in hopes of finding a decent parking space close to the restaurant. Upon arriving, we happen to run into 2 of our friends and decided to go to directly to have breakfast. After a few minutes we were joined by the rest of the gang ! The main dining area aboard the Pilot House this morning was pretty busy. After a short wait we were seated on the second floor. It was like having the whole dining room to ourselves! This morning I ordered the Cabin Boy Omelet.(Three Egg Cheese Omelet with country potatoes and a blueberry muffin). My cheese omelet was flavorful and cooked exactly as ordered. And my country potatoes were spiced just right ! My muffin was a little dry but tasted great ! My wife had the Brioche French Toast with Country Sausage. She really enjoyed it and gave it an(A+) which means she loved it! Our waitress Anita was the«BOMB»! She was the life of the party ! And made sure we were well taken care of. I can’t remember the last time we had so much fun ! What a perfect start to our morning ! Delicious food ! Fantastic Service ! & Best of Friends !

Several of us had planned to meet here before the last YEE of 2015 in Old Sacramento. It was actually John H and Jenni T but also William L, Michelangelo & Brandi joined us as well. We sat on their second floor of Delta King and it had a decent view. This ship was nicely furnished & had a classy upscale feel. We had a lot of entertainment between our funny waitress Anita and John!!! I ordered the brioche French toast with raspberries and country sausage. I only ate one of the toasts as I was pretty full from the day before holiday’s event at Preservation. I did enjoy the French toast there as it was certainly delish and I wouldn’t hesitate to order it again!!! Husband ordered a cheese omelette with country potatoes & blueberry muffin which he didn’t even finish bc he got too full as well! We really enjoyed our breakfast here with delightful company, yummy food, our perfect service and lovely restaurant. Who can ask for more??? As you can prolly tell, we will be back as Schwarzenegger would say in his infamous Terminator movies. See you soon Anita!!!

Got the shrimp louie salad which was great! Service was okay and there wasn’t really anything spectacular about it except the nice view. Probably won’t go back any time soon.

Hey, the food isn’t any better than a good deli so if I’m going to pay 3 times the amount of a deli then it better be for service and ambiance. FAILURE. I made reservations for a party of 8 for a lunch(1200) during a conference at the Holiday Inn. Reservations were made 2 hours ahead of time and when we were seated there was no one else in the restaurant. It took them 15 min to take our order and at 1255 one in our party still hadn’t gotten her order. She was informed of the delay by the waitress about 1245 and we requested a «to go» container since we had to get back to our conference. What really upset me was we were given our bill before she even got her food and they refused to adjust the bill for their failure. When I brought it to the attention of both the manager and waitress they both had excuses rather than apologies. We as a group decided the person without a meal would not pay and her charge would come out of what should have been a generous tip.

Torn between 3 – 4 stars here. The location is great and my parents, who were visiting from out of town, loved it. It’s definitely a nice spot to grab breakfast, brunch or lunch while you explore Old Sacramento. The food was also good — I ate my entire chopped salad. But my only complaint is that they were out of a lot of beer(3 or 4 kinds), and they don’t have any beer on tap, just bottles, and it took almost 45 minutes for our food to arrive — our waitress, who was really nice, didn’t check in on us during that time, either. However, in their defense, they were just switching over from brunch to lunch and it seemed like they were a little short staffed. Overall a good experience, especially since I was expecting it to be a bit of a tourist trap.

A while back when I was walking downtown with the boyfriend I told him that I wanted to come here and I guessed he remember because he surprised me with a reservation here. He actually booked the reservation for 8:45 but since I got out of work later than expected he called them and they graciously changed our reservation. Walking to the Pilothouse itself was very cool since it’s on a boat and you can’t help but feel like you’re Jack and Rose only nobody’s going to die The hostess was sweet and quickly seated us next to a window. The view was pretty but I do wish that it could of been brighter so I could actually see the water and not pitch black with downtown lights. I believe our server was David but I might be wrong. He bought out bread and butter for us while we were deciding what to order. Their bread was delicious! Better than the Cheesecake factory. Their menu isn’t large but that’s what I like since it helps me decide quicker. For the appetizer we order the wonton tacos(what?!). The main course for me was the half chicken and the boyfriend ordered the last prime rib, lucky him. A house salad and dessert comes with the prime rib meal as well. The wonton tacos came in a matter of time and it was something else. I don’t know who thought of this idea but they should be granted an award! It was delicious and everything tasted so fresh. The main course took a while to come but it was expected since the prime rib was order to be medium well. When it finally did came it looked really good. The half chicken was amazing! I don’t even like chicken that much and I thought it was super delicious! I had a bite of the prime rib as well and it was good as well. We asked for the dessert to go so I didn’t have a chance to try it. When we were paying the bill our waiter asked us if we wanted to go upstairs and listen to the live band that was playing. We thought that was nice of him to ask but politely declined. Maybe next time. Overall the bill was about $ 70 for both which wasn’t bad at all. The view, atmosphere, service and food was awesome so I can’t complain about the price.

A definite plus to the Pilot house is that it takes Open Table reservations, and they do a nice lunch. The wine list is good. We had a Benton Lane Pinot Noir. I recommend it. We had a pasta dish, a cheeseburger, and a spinach salad… all good, tasty, and prepared with fresh ingredients. Enjoy!

Everything happens sooooo slow here. Came here for brunch on a weekday and it was really quiet. Stood at the entrance for a few minutes while servers kept walking in and out, ignoring us. My friend and I wanted to sit outside(which is why we chose this restaurant), but they said it wasn’t open. I’m not sure if they only open the patio on weekends, or what the reason was, but it was such a lovely day outside that we were disappointed. Food was just okay. The smoke salmon with scrambled eggs tasted fishy. The house made muffin that day was blueberry, and it was pretty good. Moist and not overly sweet. I got the French toast with sausage… tasted like the typical French toast. Wish I had a better experience here, but eh. Nothing stood out and I probably won’t be coming back.

We had breakfast here twice during our stay on the Delta King. It was really delicious both times. Our breakfast was included in the price of our room. I had eggs Benedict twice, and it was really tasty both times! The others in our party had the«bed & breakfast» & an omelet. Each item was tasty. Since we were staying on the boat, we also had lunch & happy hour. Calamari was great & came with a nice & spicy dip. I tried the beet salad on day one & liked it so much that I had to have it again on day two! It was truly delicious(if you like beet salads!). It came with roasted golden & red beets, goat cheese, walnuts, arugula, & red quinoa with a vinaigrette dressing. Sit in the bar & enjoy the view. Its a really charming setting!

Made reservations for 7:30 on a Friday night and the place was relatively quiet. Not as packed as I assumed it was going to be. Parking wasn’t really a hassle for us, you pay until 8(1.25 an hour), but I can see how this would be more difficult if it was the day time. My boyfriend and I arrived at 7:30 on the dot and were greeted by friendly staff. You have the option of eating on the bottom level – white table cloth or you can eat on the second level where they allow you to choose from the«fancier» menu or the«cheaper menu». Not a big difference in menus in my opinion, just a couple more fancier entrees on the nicer menu. It’s more of the filet mignon type menu compared to the fish and chips and hamburger menu. The booths on the top are a bit awkward, definitely made more so for big groups, but it’s not something to really gripe about. Our waitress was nice. Friendly, but not overly attending to us which was nice with how empty the place was. We ordered crab cakes, fish and chips, and clam chowder. Honestly the food we had was amazing. I don’t give places 5 stars unless I have some amazing experience, but the food was amazing. The crab cakes were expensive unfortunately(14 dollars for 2 pieces), but man it was definitely worth it for a night out. Overall not too expensive for the two of us, but we really enjoyed it. Walk around old sac, see some of the fun little stores and if it’s light enough take some photos of the trains right outside!
