My favorite place in sacramento for bun Bo hue! Their beef and chicken phở are good too. I love their shrimp and pork spring rolls. The peanut sauce is the best! The décor is pretty tacky. The customer service is subpar but they are friendly. Their prices are good for the portions.

Me and a friend had a charbroiled chicken and vermicelli plate here, and while we were eating one of the waitresses decided to come over. She then grabbed my friends chopsticks and started stirring his plate. Then she poured something into his fish sauce and poured it onto his plate. Then as I’m in tears from laughing she looks over at me, and immediately start stirring and pouring the spicy fish sauce on my food. This was a unique experience, and a funny one. I had a better version of this at the Hoa Viet on Bruceville. Also, the tables are a bit small and the seats are position a bit too close as a result.

This place is located in a little strip mall off stockton blvd. It is a little hard to see the place when your driving but definitely worth eating at. The meat is very good and tender and the broth is clean and hearty. It is one of the better phở spots around sacramento and also good to bring groups because there is plenty of room. It may seem like the service is not very good but to me that doesn’t matter as long as they give you good food at an affordable price so who the fuck cares. Will come back again and again for this bowl of goodness!

I came here because the wait at Phở Ahn Dao was longer than it took God to make the earth and populate it with people. Hung over, starving and HANGRY, I had to go maverick and put my fate in my own hands. I will give them a second chance since this is a phở restaurant and I didn’t have any phở. If I was to judge this restaurant only on the order of spring rolls I had, I don’t think I’d come back. The spring rolls had nothing in terms of flavor. A piece of shrimp cut in half with a super thin slice of boiled pork. No basil, no cilantro, no flavor. Totally underwhelming.

For an Asian establishment, this place is pretty clean. I’m on my day 3 or 4 of eating Bun Bo Hue and decided to go here based on other reviews. The taste is really good! Although… I’m not sure if I’ll be back. I saw hair in the soup when I’m about to finish eating. :/not good. I even wanted to take it home because I’m a small eater. I didn’t end up complaining about it because who knows what they could give me next — and I finished the bowl prob halfway already. If I got a replacement, I’d just ask for a take home container. But I didn’t wanna go through that because of the negative experience. Other than that, food is really great. I hope they start wearing hair nets in the back.

I’ve actually remembered coming to this Vietnamese restaurant many times right in the Stockton Blvd strip of the Little Saigon neighborhood. «Phở King II» is the name by bringing their authentic Vietnamese cuisines from Phở, Vermicelli, rice plates, and of course their popular favorite, the Bun Bo Hue! As I entered their doors, the atmosphere is quite normal here as I welcomed. The concept is much redesigned by making it more Renaissance feel of it from left to right. The employees from servers and cookers are doing a fine job because they can serve the customers very well. No cons at all. Now onto the food! Since I ordered their Phở and their rice plates several years ago, I ordered their signature dish: Bun Bo Hue on 3÷25÷2016. As I ate it, that spicy beef stew noodle soup was sensational! I can feel the spiciness of the XO/BBQ sauce right through into my mouth. Very hot, yet quite a delicious taste! The rest of the ingredients from the toppings side did top the notch too. Not a bad meal at all. There’s plenty of parking available, so you can park anywhere you want near or far without the hassles. You can also ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation too if you preferred to. All in all, Phở King II is a fine, local Vietnamese restaurant that I always enjoyed coming here to taste their Vietnamese entrees. A worthy visit for all ages. My rating: 4 solid stars. P. S.BTW, this place carry cash only, so be prepare before you come cause you won’t regret their remarkable food!

I love this place. Always come here to get my bun bo hue fix. Broth is always extra hot so make sure you wait a little before you dig in. Noodles always taste fresh and you also get a side of fresh veggies. Yummy !!

Stay focused people. It’s about the food. Very affordable. Friendly staff. A «no-fuss» kinda place with great eats. Anthony Bourdain would rate this place 5 stars if he actually did things like this. The other reviews of less than 5 stars belong to pretentious fake-foodies who don’t get these«hole-in-the-wall, mom-pop» establishments.

I have been to a lot of phở restaurants and this one… is just not that good. The price is pretty high. They charged me 10 $for a large size bowl and they barely have any services. They also gave me tea whthout asking me. Unsatisfied.

Before Phở King 4 opened up in davis, this was the best thing around Davis. We still often stop by on the way back from Tahoe or passing through when visiting Davis. Decent phở and amazing coconut juice(with REALCOCONUTS!)!! Yum!

Love their phở here because the broth is so savory. We go here so much but all we eat are bun bo hue and phở. LoL.

Bun bo hue is ok here. Not the best — Phở Lam Bun Bo Hue has better broth and they give you banana pod leaves with your veggies. The broth here is too sweet for me, but it has a good flavor and is spicy enough for me. They give lots of meat and cabbage here so that’s a plus. They sell phở here too, but with Phở Anh Dao right next to them they really shouldn’t bother. Tip: don’t get soup splashed in your eye unless you want a peg leg and parrot to go with that eye patch.

Great stuff! Phở was delicious — flavorful, clean and balanced broth with fresh beef cuts and a damn sizable portion… ie. a small truly looks and fills like a large, which by the way looked like a fishbowl of awesome from neighboring tables. The nem nuong was unfortunately underwhelming though as there was nothing to give it crunch, just the veggies and rice vermicelli within. Not bad by any means, just a letdown for anyone who’s eaten Brodard’s iteration before. As for everything else, the interior was surprisingly open and spacious as the place looked pretty tiny from the outside. Service was friendly and very efficient, so no complaints at all there.

Bun bo hue! The best bun bo hue I ever had :) Super tasty and spicy! Their bun rieu is pretty good too. This is one of my favorite vietnamese restaurant in Sacramento. The restaurant is clean, the staff are friendly, and they usually remember my order whenever I come here :) Depending on what time you come here it can be hard to find a parking space.

Roach!!! A huge one I found floating in my bun Bo hue after I already ate the entire thing! I was so grossed out. When we told the worker she swept it up so quick. I come into town and frequent this spot bc my husband loves the mi Quang here. I am really cool with the workers and didn’t want to put them on blast but what disappointed me even more so than having a huge roach in my soup was she only compensated two of the dishes that we ordered. If I went to any other establishment they would have comped the entire meal and gave us extra in hopes to make you forget you ate a broth spiked with roaches. Not cool. Additionally, she tries to convince me they don’t have a pest problem by showing me some pest control document that reflects a recent treatment… Ummm if you don’t have a pest problem why they hell do you have a cert showing a recent treatment?! Obviously you knew you had a problem. I’m so disgusted. My husband thought it was funny. When I was screaming, «why is it always me!!!» He replies with«it’s bc you look at your food … Stop looking.» This is effed up! Besides the damn roach the food is of lower quality the egg rolls came out with some sad iceberg lettuce and not the typical romaine, mints and herbs. The spring roll was all noodles and the banh beo was cold and thick. Sad. I loved this place.

Growing up with Vietnamese food, I never understood why people loved phở so much. To me, Vietnamese food is fresh, vibrant, bursting with flavor. Phở just always seemed to be a mellowed down version of so many other great Vietnamese soups. Bun bo hue is one example, and Phở King serves probably the best version of this in all of Sacramento. Its broth is rich, flavorful, and a little spicy. The only thing that I didn’t like were the noodles, which lacked the elasticity of phở noodles, and the various ingredients, like congealed pork blood(which I can eat, but never crave) or pork bones. If you ever felt like, me, there is a way to have the best of everything: a franken-dish I like to call Phở Hue. Here’s what you do: go here and ask for your favorite style of phở(mine is tai gan) and then ask them to use the bun bo hue broth instead! You’ll get everything that comes in phở: the wonderfully elastic noodles, the rare slices of steak, but with the awesome rich flavor of bun bo hue! It also comes with a plate of bun bo hue style vegetables, shredded cabbage and lime, which I much prefer over bean sprouts. If you’re adventurous, ask for a side of their mam ruoc. Mam rouc is normally a fermented shrimp paste that smells like fish sauce, but with a thousand times the intensity. It’s often too much, even for native Vietnamese people. Phở King’s version is so different, I’m surprised they even call it the same name, and much. much easier on the palette. It’s still pungent, which takes getting used to, but add a dab here and there on your spoonfuls of Phở Hue and it’ll set off little umami bombs in every bite.
