Nishiki Sushi

totally chill staff and pet friendly patio. the sushi is better than average without being super expensive. oh, and the location is perf for a night of dinner and bar hopping.

The double double and spicy tuna rolls were amazing. Much better then the other 50% off roll place up the street. Sushi chef was really cool and all service was attentive. Not much more to say, just loved how fresh the sushi was this afternoon.

Came here a few times. I love the workers there; they are really friendly. Prices are great. Food is awesome. Will be coming back

Was pretty disappointed with their wait time today. It’s always been a short wait with good service normally but today, there was maybe 15 people in the restaurant and they took an hour or so for us to get dinner.
It took us asking 45 minutes in to be told that they had a large party and the kitchen was busy. 15 minutes later when we almost left, they finally brought us our food. Won’t be getting our business anymore. Cheers.
Also, 50% off sushi isn’t fooling anyone, just update your menu.

Came in around 6:45pm, very thin crowd (about 3 tables occupied and some bar patrons). The people I was meeting were already seated. Took about 20minutes just to place the order — my table had a full on discussion about how to give the puppy eyes to the waitress so she’d pay attention to us in the very full restaurant…(sense the sarcasm). We didn’t get the food until 8pm. I had a Moscow mule that was very weak, so later ordered the house wine. The food was mediocre, much more rice than fish. The rating is because it was well priced, half off most rolls — you get what you pay for though.
Next time I’ll pass…

Came here with a party of 6. Was greeted and seated right away. I been here few times before and that was years ago when it was much busier. Ordered a lot of food on the menu. Too much to remember. At the moment food was delicious. However 30 minute leaving the restaurant five of the six people had diarrhea. I don’t know if it was the sashimi. The one that did not Eat sashimi was fine. Went to the ladies bathroom, let me just say filthy dirty.

We made a quick stop at the bar. Great choices at the bar and great hot sake for good price. I can tell there were a lot of regulars there, the crowd at the bar were mostly a bit older. Fun and louder! Nothing really special stood out. The 2 bartenders seems really nice and fun. We didn’t try any food. I’m willing to come back and try the food… and will re-​review!

I am not sure what to think of this place, the most important things to me are that my food is reasonably descent and it is what I ordered and that the customer service is good.
My first time ordering from this restaurant, I reviewed the menu on the restaurant website, looked at Unilocal and placed order through postmates. I ordered a 3 item combination box and the orgasmic roll.
The combination box was incredibly filling, I have no issue with it and would order it again if I ever came back as a customer.
The orgasmic roll was not what I ordered nor expected. The biggest issue, I only ordered the roll because I wanted a roll wrapped in cucumber and I wanted Unagi. I got a roll wrapped in sushi rice and Nori and the roll was $ 3 more than what I expected. I called in and spoke to two staff members about it and found out a lot of other people have been having the same issue, yet the website is still not updated.
The other issue that I had is that when I was explaining the issue to the staff it felt like they didn’t care enough about my situation or the other customers. I really don’t care what the excuse is for not updating your website sooner and overcharging ($ 3) just fix it and don’t make excuses.

Cheap, SUPER SUPER FRESH, super delicious food! My second favorite sushi place in Sacramento now :) I usually eat sushi rolls with a lot of sauce on top of it. But the roll I got was pretty simple & didn’t have sauces on it. It had a lot of raw fish & scallops on it, and it was amazing. It tasted soo fresh from the fish to the rice to everything. The raw scallop had this natural sweet taste to it & just melts in your mouth. Oyster shooters were incredible! Friendly staff! Yummy food! 50% off sushi roll menu Definitely coming back.

Very happy with freshness and flavor of fish! I’m pretty experienced with sushi, and honestly it was very good!
The atmosphere was homey and I could sense a vibe of regulars in the establishment!

Our new fav spot! Half price sushi and $ 1 sake shots, my fav roll is the spicy Johnny soo good I order 2!!! And if you go at happy hour they have these amazing handrolls for $ 3! Fast friendly service def recommend this hidden gem to everyone if u love great sushi!

This place is amazing. I used to be really big on Bento Box… Until they raised their prices. Now Nishiki receives all of my business! I am really into sushi so I will be here 2 – 4 times a week.
The food is amazing. They have a lovely outdoor patio where you can eat, drink and be merry. I can’t wait to spend my summer evenings here eating sushi and drinking Sapporo.
Did I mention that their happy hour is off the hook? Because it is.
Great prices, great food. But don’t come here because I want to keep it all for myself.

Located in the middle of the grid, surrounded by countless other places to eat, I definitely see how this place could be overlooked. With a small patio outside, a sushi bar, a regular bar, and plenty of booths, I myself, haven’t had a hard time ever being seated right away and attended to with the maximum hospitality. As the current banner states, sake bombs available! And boy, are they good.
Yet for the price, the food here is off-​the-​charts. I definitely recommend any and all of the rolls; who else can beat this quality at half-​off «normal» prices? Personally, I believe that Nishiki’s food is significantly better than other half-​off roll places like Bento Box. I’m proud to say that I’ve even ventured off the sushi roll menu. All of their specialty dishes are made with incredibly fresh fish and are paired with the best flavors of sauces. Nathan, at the sushi bar, is friendly and recognizes regulars (like me). I definitely recommend rolls like the Sanea, Wonder, and Chow Bella. As for sashimi plates, I really like the Wasabi Salmon specialty plate; it has this wasabi guacamole that is to die for!
If you’re craving sushi and you’re in the area, I implore you to try the delicious food at Nishiki!

I used to frequent this place back before I had kids and wanted to go get sake bombs. Since that is easily 7 years ago, I will base my review off of my most recent trip there last week.
My friend and I were in the mood for sushi and stopped by here for lunch on a weekday. I had the sashimi tempura lunch combo. And don’t forget the miso! The food was alright, just smaller portions (except for the salad) and otherwise not memorable.
The thing that did stick out was the service! I am not sure if it was an issue of understaffing, but it took FOREVER to get our food, and when we did we kept having to ask for things (i.e. the rest of our order, refills on water, dishes for our soy sauce and wasabi, etc.) and the waitress was visibly getting more and more irritated the longer we were there.
I walked out feeling ok with not going there again. It’s a shame, because i used to love this place in my 20s. With so many options for sushi in town try someplace else where the portions are decent and the service is faster and friendly!

Huge menu, but I was on my way somewhere so I just tried two handrolls — a Spicy Tuna and a Zig-​Zag. Fresh, large quatity, but a bit too much sauce in each for my taste. Otherwise nicely rolled and good presentation. A large plate of free edamame greeted me when I sat down. The server came to me four times, and the chefs three times. Even the owner spoke briefly to me as he was adjusting the TV. The tea was fine.
Loved the service. I was hoping for something a bit less pricey, but they had a ½ off special going so it was a good deal — $ 12. I’ll be back to try some more.

We were in the mood for Sushi so we came here. Walking distance from where you parked your car is a huge plus. We arrived at 11:30am and beat the lunch crowd. We were greeted at the door and seated instantly. That was a huge plus.
Our waitress started off attentive and delivered our drinks in a timely matter and checked with us several times if we were ready. This is my 2^nd time here. I should have learned from my last experience not to come here, but after my coworkers rave reviews I really wanted to give this place a try.
The AC worked great and we stayed nice and cool. That’s a big plus when it’s warm out.
The best deal is the bento box. $ 9.95 and you get 2 items plus rice, salad, CA roll, and soup. I really wanted sushi but, not for the price, especially compared to the bento box deal. I got the Teriyaki salmon and gyoza. You actually got 3 Gyoza. I liked what I got. I love the Miso soup so that helped sweetened the deal. The Salmon was a nice option and made me feel a bit healthier.
There was no indication of any roll specials. And they had very few choices. I know lots love this place, but this place isn’t for me. I will stick to Bento Box walking distance down the street the other direction. I like their choices and prices much better.
I’m not saying there is anything wrong with this place. The staff were friendly and helpful. The waitress disappeared when we were ready to pay our bill, but the maître d’ came by and helped her out and brought us a Togo box. The place was clean. The temperature was wonderful. Nice and cool. I just didn’t like the food selection. This is no fault of the restaurant.

I’ve been coming to Nishiki for about 4 years and I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet? I’m appalled… They have a great happy hour with some tasty rolls, a full bar, and the staff are great!
Don’t miss going on Sunday because they have a ½ off menu all day n the rolls are Deelish! I’m addicted to Sushi. Get the Charlie’s BBQ, Monarch (add cream cheese) and the Zig Zig Roll! They are must haves.

The sushi is very affordable. The restaurant is nice and the service is fantastic. It’s a great place for a date. However, the food didn’t taste well.
The orgasmic roll looked and tasted frozen. Despite all of its ingredients, condiments, and components, all I could taste was defrosted sushi. Not even sinking it in wasabi soy sauce helped. It’s on the 50% off sushi roll list but this $ 7 didn’t seem worth it.
The large sashimi seems like a good deal. 20 pieces for $ 22.75? It was a no brainer to order this. It had tuna, salmon, hamachi, and alabcore. However, the slices were really thin. I couldn’t taste much of any of the fish. I also needed a ton of wasabi in my soy sauce in order to taste it.
