I tried to buy a Banh Mi sandwich recently at Long’s sandwich and it was CLOSED! and had a sign in the window that it was for rent looks like they must have went OUT of Business and was now empty inside?

Price is right! The Bahn Mi are delicious. They Bake their own bread and it is well done.

Sorry to say this for all the other HL sandwhich Lovers out their. LONG had the best bread out there. Its light and crispy on the outside but super soft in the middle. I usally come here for one of their sandwiches ONLY. MEATBALL also known as the SUIMA. Everytime when i eat this sandwich it just melt in my mouth. Everything in this sandwhich just go so well together. The mayo, pickle veggies, cumcuber, the soy sauce that is pour over it all and the meat ball that they smash so u get it in every bite. Taking bout this makes my mouth water. LOL thats how good it is. Sorry to say that i havent try their other sandwiches. Y eat a different Bi Mi when i already found the perfect SUIMA sandwich. MUSTTRY.

I heard from others that they have great sandwiches and so today I decided to find out what is the big deal. I walked right in and found that the venue was very clean. It’s a mom and pop sandwich/deli shop. Very spacious and also comfortable. I walked up to the counter and saw that the menus is pretty straight forward located above. The menu selection was many and they had photographs for everything they can make for you. I ordered the number 10 and 19. Number 10 was the vegetarian and the Number 19 is a pastrami. VEGGIESANDWICH I bought the vegetarian one for someone and she said she wished they had more vegetables in it. I did take one bite out of it as she offered me to taste. I was surprised that the TOFU that was in the sandwich tasted almost like meat. I was amazed. Well my friend is a vegetarian therefore she wanted her foods to taste like vegetables. Hahaha. Overall though, she enjoyed it and I would get that for myself too the next time I go in. It had cucumbers, carrots, sauced TOFU and that is about all I can remember. If you want to eat vegetarian and dont like the taste of veggies, this is a good sandwich. But if you are one of the vegans that like the taste of veggies… maybe find another alternative. PASTRAMISANDWICH I got the pastrami for myself. It was rather simple and I enjoyed it a lot. It had the pastrami, the mayo, mustard, lettuce and I think that is all I can remember. There may have been more in it. I enjoyed it because it was simple. Sometimes too much stuff can get overwhelming and I actually ENJOYED this sandwich. BREAD What I really enjoyed too was the Baguettes that they used for the sandwiches. It tasted crisp and fresh. So light and delicious. It tasted like it was made in house. TAKEOUT I came in and ordered take out. It took approximately 5 minutes to make both sandwiches. Very good! GREATPLACE If you like to try something new and craving for sandwiches, this is a great place to try. I will definitely try the veggie one for myself again very soon.

The sandwiches are okay. One thing I really like is that the bread is soft! One thing I hate is the drinks. Not that taste bad, but they fill the entire thing with ice! I mean, filled to the max. I had probably 5 gulps of my Thai tea and it was gone. $ 3 per drink too! What a rip off :(I was pretty doubtful they didn’t do refills but I asked anyways while holding up my cup of ice.

Best viet sandwiches in Sacramento hands down!!! Mannn their pork chop rice with fried eggs is bomb too… you must try it here if you have never been. Everything I’ve had here has been terrific. Haven’t tried the soup though. so I can’t guarantee that one. But guaranteed on the rest! =)

I stopped at Loong(Not Long, there is an extra o) Thursday on my way back to work. I have been there several times before and the sandwiches have never disappointed. I ordered a bar b que pork sandwich which was ready in less than five minutes. For 2.99 I got a huge sandwich stuffed with meat, pickled veg, cilantro and jalepeno peppers. Very soft bread, not overly heavy on the mayo, just perfect. So far my favorite bahn mi place in Sac.

our favorite vietnamese sandwiches are from huong lan but finding parking there can be a real pain, especially on weekends. last saturday, we had a hankerin’ for a pork sandwich but the parking lot was a zoo and i didn’t want to deal with the hassle. i remembered seeing long sandwich up the street so we went there. we ordered six of the #7 pork sandwiches(it was buy 5, get 1 free). while the nice gal was making our sandwiches, i started checking out the packaged pork they were selling on the counter… uh-oh, it did not look appetizing at all… the meat looked like it was boiled, not grilled the way HL does it. still, i kept thinking that the meat they used in the sandwiches must be different. we got home and started eating. as it turns out, the meat was indeed the same as what i had seen at the shop: not grilled. it really did look like it was boiled… it was cold, plain, bland and dry. the pickled vegetables had very little flavor and what’s up with the mayonnaise? way too much of it. the bread, however, was a bright spot and very good: soft on the inside, a bit of crunch on the outside and chewy all around and easily better than huong lan’s. still, we all agreed that the bread could not save the sandwich… i only ate about half of mine before losing interest. my step-dad told me later that he tossed the last two in the garbage and all i could think was, «oh, good.»(and, believe me, i *hate* wasting food).

This place is another Banh Mi place on stockton blvd. Not the best but is okay. The bread is soft and they’re banh mi is alright. I would rather go to Duc Huong or Huong Lan. Ive tried the banh mi thit nuong(grilled pork sandwich) and the banh mi dac biet(special sandwich), both were alright but not as comparable to HL and DH. One thing i dont like about this place or suggest them improving on is cutting the veggies more smaller because it is a big blob in the sandwich!

Cash only first of all. How primitive is that? The lady that works there is the stereotypical mean angry Vietnamese worker. She was probably as grumpy as one of those mean grumpy guys on the film«Where the Wild Things Are» . Lucky for them, I enjoyed the sandwich a whole bunch. I tried the Huong Lan Sandwich shop the day after and in comparison Long Sandwich had the better bread between the two. Huong Lan Sandwiches were waaay too stale and Long’s tasted soft and fresh(which I doubt it was)… Who cares I liked it and that’s all that matters because this is my review not yours.

I love these sandwiches, and the staff is sometimes even friendly. I personally don’t expect to much at these establishments. I brought my kids in one day, and they really were so nice to them. The rolls are on the softer side, but this is not a bad thing. Much easier to chew then the crunchy ones I uses to get in China Town. They also have different types of bread if you want a little variety. My favorite is the Pork sandwich, but the chicken is also very good. They all have lots of pickled radish and carrots on the sandwiches, so that you don’t have to feel quite as guilty. Enjoy, Steve

I am giving this an extra star because my friend said it was the best banh mi he’s ever had! He’s white, so he hasn’t had as many Vietnamese sandwiches as me, haha. Probably not the cleanest joint in the world, but I did like the ladies that worked there. They were nice and exchanged pleasantries with us when we got there and as we left.(Most places don’t have such good service!) Anyway, we got 2 sandwiches, a Thai tea, and a vermicelli noodle dish for under $ 15! The drink was okay, but the sandwiches were awesome! I love the baguette they use. Instead of the usual single serving French bread rolls, they serve them on long baguettes which they slice the ends of the bread off. I like that much better since I’m not a huge fan of the«bread butt.» My vermicelli was good! The barbecued bits were good, but the shrimps were too salty. The egg rolls were also pretty tasty. I’d say a it’s pretty solid place to hit if you want a good banh mi!

I went here when they had a promo for buy 5 get one free or something. Let’s just say, I only got through one.(Haha 3 was for myself to eat at the moment + for leftovers later, and the other 3 was for other people). But point is, it didn’t impress my taste buds. Yeah yeah, I know its just a simple sandiwch– but really, I found it very bland compared to other Vietnamese sandwiches I’ve had(and I’ve had plenty). The bread was not fresh when I got it(they probably had it out too long). Even the pickled daikon/carrots were dissapointing and that’s my favorite part :(I don’t know, maybe it was just they day and time I went… But yeah, it was no bueno in my book. If you want VIetnamese sandwiches in this area, Huong Lan for the win! It’s just a minute drive further down on Stockton. However– I did like their Che(vietnamese dessert) though. So an extra star goes for the Che.

I’ve only had the sandwiches here and they’re eeeh, okaaayyy… nothing horrible but nothing that makes me want to come back right away either. I had the #6 and #7(Ate one and saved the other for the next day.) The bread to filling ratio is a little heavy on the bread, but I liked the BBQ pork. The bread is a little softer and chewier than Lee’s(which is closed now; I cry), which some people may prefer, but I did not. I did like that they put a cucumber in the sandwich.

Just go to Huong Lan’s for banh mi, period. I had the #2 Steamed Ham. The bread was less crunchy and more stale. None of the ingredients seemed fresh. It was too salty.

Yikes. Thought I would give it a try since Lee’s on Power Inn closed.(what a drag!) While I will miss Lee’s Sandwiches with a passion… at least there is Huong Long on Stockton and 65th. Yeah, I was very unimpressed. The sandwich was«decent» for $ 2.75 but I really hate it when the people who work there roll their eyes when I order… I could go on and on, but I won’t. There are a bazillion other places to eat… go to one of those places. Thanks for reading.

YESSSSSSS, FINAAALLLLLLLLLLY!!! Finally found Banh Mi in Sacramento worth living for!!! The baguette definitely put the oomph to my delicious banh mi bbq chicken!!! Sooo soft, so tasty, and soooooooo in my belly!!! Damn, my mouth is watering right now! $ 2.50-$ 2.75 for my sandwich. I couldn’t tell since the price fell off. LOL. Whatever, it was very good. I wish it was located somewhere closer to me, like across the street =) where it’s not too ghetto(no offense)! $ 0.99 for a freshly«LONG» baguette! Mmmm, now I can make it at home… only if it was that easy to make a great sandwich!

The closure of New Paris has left me scurrying in search of a decent Banh Mi. Lee’s left me somewhat hankering for better so here I am at Long’s. Since I felt New Paris was the pinnacle of Banh Mi, and Lee’s was a bit average, it was no surprise to find Long’s fitting squarely in between. The bread was very good, soft enough to pass the roof of the mouth abrasion test. The #1 combo seemed to be lacking in the form of crunchy reddish head cheese. I really like that stuff and missed it in the sandwich. I agree with some other reviewers that there was too much mayo. I really miss the pure goodness and lightness of New Paris. The pepper was very spicy, so wimpy palates beware. The gal fixing my sandwich was very nice but the owner lady didn’t say a word to me(typical for asian joints). Overall I’m satisfied I’ve found Banh mi a step above Lee’s but I still shed a tear for New Paris.
