A few bites of the al pastor burrito and I’m hooked. Badly. I’m having withdrawal symptoms as I type and I’m going back tomorrow. Quick tip: Their barbacoa is only available on Saturdays and Sundays and it runs out quickly. «Get there before noon» they tell me.

My cousin and I each had the menu prestige, and made slightly different choices to try to cover as much variety as keep it short, every dish was cooked exactly as described to perfection. The dishes are influenced by local flavors .This and are my go to for good prices. have everything for $ 4.00

Was craving some quality Mexican during my last day in town. I had driven by Lalo’s for years, as my Dad lives in the area, and decided to give it a try for lunch. Came in and the place was empty but it was a little past the typical lunch rush so I wasn’t phased. I placed my order for take-out and the service was fast and friendly. I ordered: a pork tamale, a cheese and pepper tamale, one al pastor taco, and one carnitas taco. I got it all for $ 6 plus tax. A feast. The pork tamale was delicious — held together well and had really good flavor. Was moist and well composed. The cheese and pepper tamale had great taste but kind of fell apart, making it harder to eat. The al pastor taco was tasty — the marinade on the pork was delicious and with fresh squeezed lime and cilantro, it made a great taco. And the carnitas was great too — not dry and chewy like some carnitas. It was moist and melted in my mouth. Next time I’m in town, I’d definitely come back to Lalo’s and give some other menu items a try.

This is about as authentic Mexican taqueria that you can find! Delicious and quick! The service was no nonsense but still friendly. People may be a little intimidated by the menu and having to order at the counter, but fear not, everything is translated for you. If you’re still intimidated, start off nice and easy with a few carne asada tacos. It’s just steak, onions, cilantro, and amazing hot salsa. If you want a fancier dining experience, go to Caballo Blanco, Rick’s Hancienda, or Tres Hermanas. If you want quick, delicious MEXICAN food, this is the place!

This place was not what I thought it would be. I recently relocated to Sacramento from L.A. and had been craving Mexican for some time. After reading the reviews I figured I’d give it a shot. I should’ve known better, just walking into the place you could tell the environment wasn’t very welcoming. Small«restaurant» only one other patron, the place was dark, didn’t really have a good feeling. After sitting for a few minutes and looking over the menu a lady came and asked to take our order. She did it in such a way though, almost as if she hated her job. My friend inquired about what an item on the menu contained and she very rudely responded. I almost wanted to get up and leave, I couldn’t believe this lady. We decided to stay since we were already there and hungry. We figured, just because the service stinks doesn’t mean the food does. Big mistake. I ordered chicken quesadilla, what could go wrong with that I figured… Wrong. Quesadilla hardly had any cheese and the chicken that it had seemed like old chicken. It had a weird flavor and texture. My friend had a torta«cubana,» another big mistake. He took a bite and the rest went to the trash. I don’t know how this place is still running, you cant have bad service and bad food also. I’m all about whole-in-the-wall places but this one was a big no-no. ***Porfavor no pongan a la señora(chaparrita) que cocina a tomar ordenes. No se si es su intencion ser grocera pero lo que parece es no gustarle su trabajo.***

This is for breakfast only but highly recommended. They have this broth that you can add seasoning too. They give you a huge bowl of onions and other condiments. They have goat meat too. Also the chilaqulies are uhmazing. Standard Mexican restaurant service. Efficient and to the point. FYI they don’t have a spot for tipping if you do credit card. So bring cash for tip. Also it’s cheap. Really good food I promise. For the price you won’t be disappointed.

I usually get the enchiladas. One of the best Mexican spots in Sacramento… Plenty of food for the price. You will need a take out box. Parking sucks but it’s worth it

It is a hole in the wall shop, next to a liquor store and a beauty shop that makes Mexican food better than most fancy sit down restaurants. One of my co-workers suggested we go here for a taco run. That was a couple months and a few taco runs ago. The food is great. Authentic. Worth the trip from Midtown. Next time in, I have to get the pound of barbacoa and tortillas

It’s usually busy on the weekends & very few parking spaces. We’ve been there about a half a dozen times & most every visit we sit down and are usually ignored. Everyone just walks by, sees us but doesn’t come over. My husband, who is fluent in Spanish, will get up and order at the counter or they will then come over. I really love the cup of refried beans they give us with chips, about half the time we go there. We also, most of the time have to ask for salsa. We’ve tried the burritos, my husband LOVES the Al Pastor ! Tried all the tamales & they’re tiny, but only $ 1.50. Very dry but I do like the pepper & cheese kind. I don’t care for the burritos, the reg comes w/beans, rice, cheese, & sour cream but while I was expecting their amazing refried beans in it, there were plain pintos inside. Not very flavorful, small pieces of chopped up meat, in mine, I had pollo. The last time we went the waiter, very nice young man, didn’t write down are order & when he brought the food he forgot the side of refried beans w/cheese but never returned. Never filled our water glasses so my hubby got our water & refills. We had to ask for check, we knew they never give you one, they just tell you how much. It seemed higher than it should be so we added up what it should be plus tax ahead of time & he had charged us for the beans &2 super burritos. He changed it after my hubby talked with him. Some items are good, prices aren’t bad but don’t expect good service & keep track of what you order & prices.

First time I have ever tried molcajete which is basically delicious cheese, meat and sauce served to you in a mini cauldron. It was spicy, flavorful and memorable! I washed it all down with some nice refreshing horchata. This place has a hole-in-the-wall kinda vibe, but is nonetheless charming. My all-time favorite Mexican restaurant in Sacramento. I wanted to treat myself with some carne asada fries one day and came to my lovely Lalo’s. I ate the entire order and didn’t feel like I had a brick inside my stomach. It’s just amazing how eating their fried foods doesn’t make me hate my life after.

Parking sucks!!!, Everything else is awesome. Great atmosphere with live mariachi music and engage customers. The thing I liked the most was the small and straight forward menu, compare to other Mexican restaurants. The pound order of barbacoa was delicious, and the broth was the perfect recipe for our current flu. My daughter order two tacos Al-pastor and ate them without complain. A miracle!!! I order the Molcajete! It is a lot of food for one person but with a Mexican(I am the only Puerto Rican!) family sharing is part of the experience! This place is awesome. Close to college. A hidden gem. Check it out!!!

Came here right after visiting Track 7 brewing co. Good Mexican food, quick service, attentive staff. Food came out very quick, I had the al pastor burrito. The al pastor was particularly flavorful. Would come here again if I was in the area

This place blows my mind. Everything is so good, great prices, huge portions and everyone is so nice. The family that run the place understand customer service and always go a little extra. As a white Dude going to a 95% Mexican establishment, felt totally welcomed and appreciated. I’ll be back time and time again. The carnitas are incredible! Tacos!!!

I wanted authentic Mexican food and after looking at Unilocal reviews, I decided to check out this place since it had good ratings. So I came here for lunch on a weekend. I decided to pig out. I ordered the pastor tacos, molacajete and a pound of barbacoa. The parking lot is definitely small but I got lucky and I find parking. So in terms of the food — I actually found the molacajete way too salty. It was hard to enjoy. It definitely had a kick to it. I think the barbacoa was good though. I think the best thing I ordered was the pastor tacos. It definitely had a kick to it as well. It was spicy but yum! So overall, I enjoyed the tacos and I think the price is definitely reasonable. The service here is mediocre. I probably wouldn’t come back unless I was craving $ 1.25 pastor tacos.

Alright this is real Mexican food. Nothing fancy just authentic(high in calories) Mexican food. For $ 4.50 you get a pint of horchata(this is big enough for 2 people). We focused on the Barbacoa since it was a Saturday at 11:30 am. It was moist, tasty and delicious! Comes with warm tortillas, salsas, onion and cilantro and roasted onions and jalapeños. The Barbacoa was $ 11 per pound. There were 4 of us so we ordered 2 pounds and still brought so many leftovers home. We also ordered a sope and a cubano sandwich. Both were okay but not necessary because there was soooo much food. The sope was $ 4.50 and it was good. I would go there again if I was craving authentic Mexican food or had relatives who love Barbacoa.

Seen this joint here for the longest time and always assumed it was a tortilla factory, why did i think that? Idk i just assumed that it was a mexican place so they made tortillas.(Racist) i kno right? Haha Im glad i decided to come tho i had heard this place was good so i said«i’ll be the judge of that» Went on a sunday and omg was it packed! Hella mexicans were packed like sardines in that lil spot. Im mexican so i blended in just fine :) it sucked tho cuz we had to wait for atleast 30 or 40 minutes to get seated. The wait was well worth it! There was cilantro, onion and lime on the table along with red salsa and green salsa with a side of pickled red onion with habanero OMGSOGOOD! Ordered one and a half of barbacoa and half of pound of «pansa»(stomach) i ordered a bowl of consumé(broth) u cant order the barbacoa with out this, i mean you could but i dont recommend it U MUSTGETIT!!! Also ordered a mango agua fresca drink but i forgot to take a pic of it #fail but good lawwd was it good! The pansa and barbacoa came with warm corn and blue corn tortillas also with grilled onion and jalapenos so good, the broth was good i added the cilantro and onion along with lime and dipped the barbacoa in it to make it more moist and flavorful. I really recommend this place dont be afraid of the pansa just think of it like this, if u like menudo the pansa is good if u dont like menudo then stay the hell away from the pansa and stick to the regular borin carne asada or chicken taco/burrito lol im just saying, i will return to this spot tho thats for sure.
