From the nondescript exterior we were surprised by the charming interior. Made to look like an outdoor courtyard, the restaurant area has a babbling fountain and a fireplace surrounded by a large mural. A very pleasant setting for a meal with friends. I had a taco salad which was pretty standard. The chicken meat was shredded and the lettuce was shredded iceberg. Two of my friends had the carnitas special. It came with a generous serving of carnitas. There was plenty of parking in front and more next to Home Depot.

We dropped in to La Mision yesterday, They spell it Mision with a single«s». I have eaten there before, but it had been maybe 10 years ago. I do remember it being good, we just aren’t in that part of town often I am tempted to give them a 5 star review for food, but the waiter loses at least a star. I think he was Speedy Gonzales the way he was running around. He just rushed us a little too much. We started with a couple of pints of Dos XX dark and you can’t go wrong with those. The chips were good and fresh, but the salsa sucked. All good Mexican restaurants have the spicy stuff in the kitchen so if the standard salsa they serve is lacking ask for the good stuff. My Wife ordered the lunch special chile relleno and I ordered a large bowl of chicken rice soup. Both were very good

I bought the groupon for this joint and it was a terrible idea. The quality of the food and service is subpar, especially for the price. I wasnt too mad cause i had the groupon but i would have been furious if i had paid menu price and gotten the food that i had. The enchiladas i had lacked flavor and didnt taste very fresh. The rice tasted like it had been sitting around for a few hours. There are several taquerias in the south sac area that cost a good amount less than this restaurant while providing food and service that is a million times better.

Service was ok but it took forever for our food and drinks to come. Not was expecting that when there was only 15 people in the restaurant. The chips and salsa was better then the food. Confusing when you 1st walk in on where to go. You walk in and there is a wall??? Left or right?

Last time we were there we attempted to use our groupon and the waiter(douche) told us he couldn’t accept it. The groupon states dinner for four people and he said we didn’t order four dinners(one was a child). No where in the fine print does it say it had to be four dinners by the way. This was our 5th or 6th time using this groupon with the same 4 people involved. Worked every time until we ran into this waiter(douche). So, he(douche) has lost our business. Customer service just isn’t what it used to be…

The staff are very rude at this restaurant. The main in charge host waiter usually seems like He is ways having a bad day. I have came here three times and the third time I left and we all decided not to stay and eat here. Lol no Buenos

The little Mexican restaurant behind jack in the box that shares a parking lot with Home Depot. My Husband and I love the Sopas! I love the ambiance here, it feels like a cantina in mexico! Hand carved embellishments on the chairs, a running fountain and unique painted murals on the walls– it is casual attire but suitable for date nite. I have always had luck asking the waiter/host what he enjoys off the menu or inquiring about a special of the house. There is a fully stocked bar that is just waiting for a good time. The bar area is separate from the dining area but does have seating available. I think this would be a fantastic venue for a Birthday, Anniversary, work party or any group gathering of at least 30 people… With very little effort this space would be impressive to host a gathering!

This Mexican food here is pretty good! I would say we have been eating here for at least about 15 years or more. This is one of those places that we come to that we always eat the samething. Which is the fajitas(steak & sprimp). Best fijitas around(my opinion). And you don’t have to wait long for your food like some restaurants. I think the longest we’ ve ever waited is like an hour for food at a restaurant. Thank God not here! The prices I think are reasonable and the place is always clean, not to mention always busy too. This evening we got here just in time. Wow, our timing was perfect, people just started rolling up in here. I guess it’s dinner time for many. The drinks are decent in price and in the kick. You know(you feel the alcohol). While we’ re waiting for our food my husband says we should speak spanish when we speak to our server. He’s funny, I think he knows about 3 or 4 words in spanish! Whats even cuter is that they just smile at him when he says something in spanish to them, he tries to speak with an accent as well. Funny boy! The staff is amazing and professional and very accommodating. They stand by the saying ‘The customers always right ‘. I can honestly say I have never seen any type of drama or dispute take place in here. And I’ve come all different times of day and night. The lunch here is just as good as the dinner. F.Y.I for any business, they are great for groups as well. The company I use to worked for way back in the early 90’s, we used to come here for work meeting and after work hang outs. It has a nice and somewhat different décor to it. It kinda reminds me of Encinita Mexico. The atmosphere is soft and pleasant. No loud talking, but soft chatter and laughter. Yeah I can truly say that this is one of my favorite places to eat, especially for Mexican.

Love the homemade flour tortillas! The refried beans were a little hard perhaps cooked to long. The Spanish rice not much flavor. The chips were made fresh but there are better ones out there. The salsa was spicy but had a good flavor. Overall service was fair although I had to ask for an addition tortilla because they only provide one, but perhaps they maybe because I ordered a lunch plate and not a dinner plate! I’d go back again cause the flour tortillas were that good! Hard to find Mexican Restaurants in Sac that offer homemade tortillas.

Before stopping by the in-laws my wife and I decided to grab lunch somewhere we’ve always been meaning to try. La Mission in many ways takes hole in the wall spot to a new level. It’s behind the Jack in the Box and next to Home Depot and tricky to spot right away. But don’t let the outside fool you. Inside is a place that’s vivid, festive, and beautifully decorated. The food was delicious and service was outstanding! Our waiter was fast and courteous throughout our lunch. Coco ordered the chicken enchilada meal, while I ordered a carne asada plate. It was a treat for us both to indulge in such sumptuous meals. Bravo 4 out of 5 stars for La Mission!

I’ve been going here for like 15 years… I go to El Novillero, Tres Hermanas, and here. I rotate these restaurants out, because they’re the best Mexican dining places in the area. I recommend their chimichangas, they’re delicious!

This is a quaint looking Mexican restaurant on Florin Road behind Jack in the Box right after Home Depot. The décor looks like a little brick courtyard. I ordered the camarones a la Diablo, a spicy shrimp dish that almost melted my face off(in a good way). I should mention that while I like things spicy, eating hot dishes is not a sport for me the way it is for some people. I guess I’m a bit of a lightweight, but this dish was so flavorful that I’m sure it’s the only one I’ll order any time we go there again. It came with refried beans with cheese, rice, and lettuce. The salsa was also quite good. Go here and try the food. Maybe I’ll see you. I’ll be the one whose eyeballs are sweating.

Tucked in the back behind jack in the box by home depot. Bought a groupon to try this place out and I will be back without a groupon next time. Walking in, I felt like I was at a mission in mexico. from the décor, to stained glass lights, water fountain and flooring. The food was pretty good for its price, as well as very good portioning. Customer service was awesome. House made chips along with salsa before the meal. The meat was marinated very well and my taco was very crispy! !!

Having grown up on a steady diet of enchiladas, lettuce(not salad), and Shirley Temples, I feel totally at home in La Mission. La Mission has a scalloped roof, tile floors, a big ol’ bar whipping up margaritas, beer & cocktails, and great service. The food is tasty too!

I was here for a paint nite with a friend, and we decided to purchase a groupon to have dinner before the event started. I had the chile Colorado. It tasted ok — spicy without being overwhelming and a fair amount of beef, but the beef was dry and slightly chalky. My friend had some fajitas that looked really good, and we split two small pitchers of margaritas. The margaritas were a little sweet, but strong. Unfortunately, my meal did not sit well with me. I ended up somewhat sick overnight. There’s great Mexican food in this city, so I will not be eating again at La Mision(or Mission, depending on the website you’re looking at).

I’m actually very disappointed in this place as I have always wanted to try it since I had seen it years ago. I ordered the pazole and my tortillas never came out. I had also asked for a side of Jalapenos which were also a no-show. My dining companion ordered«pork«chimichangas but the they came out with only rice and beans. My soda was refilled once but his was not. I will not recommend or be back here at all,

Food is alway so good, the fajitas were tender and juicy. Service is always awesome. The resturant sits off the street a bit so you have to search but it is worth finding.

Pretty standard stuff. I come here for the great $ 5 lunch specials which kills any price in the area. Nothing over-the-top, but it is a full meal with rice and beans. Soft drinks are very reasonably priced as well – not $ 3 like some places. If your looking for a place to just blow your mind, this may not be the place for you. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced comfort Mexican meal, give it a shot! Service has always been friendly. Just not 5 stars because of a lack in «wow» factor.
