CLOSED? Whaaa? I came here all the time when I worked at an office nearby. I’m sad it’s closed… I haven’t found another La Bou with their particular menu items. Sure it got crazy busy at lunch but it had some of the best green curry I’ve eaten!(You know, outside of an actual asian restaurant). RIP, Stockton Blvd La Bou :(

CLOSED! I noticed they were paring down their service over the last couple of years, but closing this location was unexpected. I’ll continue to visit their other locations for their amazing almond croissants, spinach salads with dill dressing, and crispy soft baguettes. I hope some other yummos take over this location. Fingers crossed.

I work next to this place, and I am a long time enthusiast of La Bou since I was a little girl going with my Dad to the bakery for a chocolate croissant. Sadly, this place has the worst hours and horrible staff on hand. The food doesn’t taste correctly and doesn’t even have that great bakery smell you expect going into a bakery. Its a shame since the location is great and good seating with a nice patio. Sad to see this business getting slow and stale. Hope management decides to improve this location.

Their soups and sandwiches are pretty good, but I’m not a fan of their wraps. A little pricey, so I don’t frequent here.

This is a hot spot for many of the employees at the hospital across the street(UCDMC). I came here on my lunch break naturally because it was so close. I bought a Chicken Panini for $ 6.25. It was alright but nothing spectacular. I probably wouldn’t have paid so much for it but I’m sure they put their prices high since they’re so close to the hospital. The Customer Service could be better, seeing that they weren’t all that polite about things. Barking out number orders in a room not even a quarter full was kinda tacky.

I love La Bou but I do not like this location. The only reason why I come to this La Bou is because it is convenient. This particular location always run out of food if you don’t come during the rush hour lunch. But really, who really wants to go during the rush hour and stand in a long line. One Friday during Easter lent season, I had to stop by this La Bou to grab some lunch for some of my coworkers, I made the mistake by not calling in first. By the time I got there which was about 12:45−1pm, talk about running out of food. My coworker food was OK because they still had some of their item left but because I was fasting for lent and couldn’t eat meat I ordered a tuna sandwich and they told me they ran out of tuna so I ordered a veggie soup and they ran out of that too, so I ordered a Asian noodle salad and they said«sorry ran out of that too», in my mind I was thinking how could a place that is the busiest during lunch don’t stock up on these stuff. So guess what I end up ordering??? I was so frustrated and thirsty from ordering all the things they ran out of, I ordered a coke to go. The cashier felt bad for me so she said it was on her. wooohooo, didn’t have to pay for my soda. Now I always phone in my order first when I go to this location. The staff takes their time when making your food.

La bou is well known for their bread, and I always order their bagettes with the dill dressing and I’ve once tried their chinese chicken salad. They have alot of variety and healthy selections on their menu, although this particular location swtiched owners and most of the better and healthy selections are no longer on the menu. I still come here on occations but it’s just so unorganized and I can never see the menu since it’s all scattered everywhere. The prices on the menu seems a little pricy to me. But like I said i’ve only had the bagette and chinese chicken salad, everything else seems to be overpriced to me. Overall it’s an OK place, wouldn’t be my first choice, and the workers are kind of snobby. They take forever to get my food ready — it’s just bread and dip, how can you not just cut my bread and give me my order and send me on my way? I always had to wait at least 10−20mins for my food even when i call ahead of time, so i’m not pleased about that. So do yourself a favor if you like la bou go at it but if your in a rush or crunch time for lunch, the wait isn’t worth the food or the price for this one. I’ll still be coming back but preferbaly when I’m not on lunch at work.

I don’t know why I keep coming back to La Bou. I think it’s because I keep thinking it’s the same as Panera, and my goodness… it is not. My biggest problem with this place is that everything seems disorganized and confusing. I don’t know how to figure out what to order because the menu is complicated and disheveled. I’m not sure if I’m staring at the specials or the entire menu, and I can’t tell what half the stuff is. On top of that, everything is more expensive than it should be, especially considering that the food is only mediocre. I’ve tried the vegetarian sandwich a few times, and it is small and disappointing. I always feel like I could have made the same thing at home for much cheaper. Today I tried the Mediterranean soup in a bread bowl, and it too wasn’t worth the money. The bread bowl was tasty, but was half the size of Panera’s. This location gets crowded at lunch because of the hospital, and it keeps weird hours. I think it’s closed on weekends and after 3:30 on weekdays. I’m hoping today was my last visit to this place, but I think I’ve said that before.

This is the one of the worst La Bou locations I have ever been to in the history of my La Bou dining experience. Here’s why… 1. They have the WORST hours ever. They’re only open from 6:30am to 3:30pm Monday-Friday. ANDCLOSEDSATURDAYSANDSUNDAYS. I mean, wtf? You guys are located across from a hospital where tons of patients, staff, and visitors are at. You could be making a killing! 2. The menu seemed like it had been downsized and not everything was listed. I’m not sure what the deal is with that. Also, I’m not sure I’m liking the fact that they have their pots of soup on display in the glass case. It’s a big turn off and made me think that my soup had been sitting out all day long. BOO. 3. I ordered my usual tomato bisque soup, but I got NO croutons on top of my soup and they seemed to skimp on my sourdough baguette slices that come on the side. I mean, if you’re going to have horrible hours, at least make me want to come back and put up with it by having my food be excellent. Not the case… 4. I hate how I have to walk ALLLLL the way to the end of the counter to see what pastries you have for the day. I’m not lazy or anything, but they probably don’t sell many since most people aren’t aware that they’re at the other end. I don’t think we’ll be back to this La Bou any time soon. If I really want some, I’ll drive a little further down the road to another location. So BOO on this La BOU!

Expensive? This place is cheap and easy and fast and clean. Menu online will dis-spell the expensive complaints. Chinese chicken salad with bread rolls $ 4.50. Healthy eats and low carb for those who care. Nice fast free Wifi as well as some KILLER teas. My check in is the one on Stockton Blv. I uploaded a photo of the inside via mobile Unilocal.Clean nice bathrooms. Large eating area and a separate area off to the side. Nice.

I don’t know about La Bou in general. This is the second one I’ve been too and I still think it’s a place for older people that lost their taste buds. It’s decent enough for a person to need a quick lunch but I just can’t do that anymore. I was hoping THIS La Bou would change my mind but it didn’t. The service is way better than the one on Howe. Even the quality of the food was a little above in comparison. I had to update my Howe La Bou to one star and this one to two. I just didn’t like the fact that the showed that their soup was just sitting in a pot waiting for someone to order it(I’m guessing enough for the rest of the day). I understand that soup can’t be made to order but you don’t need to show that off or be proud of it. There was even some pre-made sandwiches in the display that they were putting out. Really?! I had the smoked turkey and tomato bisque. Thank goodness I was lazy to make my own lunch and in the area at the time because they wouldn’t have received my $ 8 – 9. I always leave La Bou thinking, «I could’ve made that sandwich…» As for the soup, it was tomato water. I guess just sitting in a pot just condenses the creaminess to water. At least the soup at Panera has actual chunks and has kept a little creaminess to it. I hate to put down La Bou… I guess a positive about this place is that it seems better than La Bou on Howe.

La Bou has some decent food. The staff is very nice. They keep the line moving at lunch and I like the patio seating. That being said, something about La Bou just doesn’t feel right. It’s a nagging feeling I get in the back of my mind as soon as my coworkers and I agree to make the 2 minute trek from our office. The items behind the glass look yummy(love the raisin custard snails). I know the ham and cheese croissant is bad for my health, but no, that’s not it. The flavored coffee isn’t great and yes, the last ounce and a half left in the thermos always seems to spurt into MY cup, but no… that’s not it either. This place doesn’t suck. It’s not dirty. Hmmm… Oh, wait… here’s the gal ringing up my order. Yeah, I just saw the total. Wow. WOW. Okay, I figured it out. La Bou is overpriced. There, I said it. I feel better. 3 star food at 5 star prices and there you have it.

Like the other 99.9% clientele who eat here, I work within walking distance. It’s overpriced but convenient. I love the spicy Thai chicken soup, the Chinese chicken salad, and the chicken curry w/rice. I’ve been a regular customer for years(like the other 99.9%). Not anymore. I had a very irritating experience today trying to order a large spicy Thai chicken soup. They used to have an efficient cafeteria-style assembly line going, but recently they’ve changed their method of serving food. They need to go back to the old way. This way just sucks. I waited for at least 10 minutes, maybe 15, before they called out my number. I wanted soup, they gave me salad. I told the cashier/manager that my order was wrong. He asked a staff to get a large soup, and the staff went to the kitchen and never came out. So as I’m rolling my eyes at the cashier/manager, he goes back to the kitchen to check on it, and comes back to let me know it’ll be another 5 or 10 minutes. OHMYGOD, I could’ve shot someone! I just said give me my money back, and that was way too long to have waited for something you didn’t even have. Irritating. La Bou is now on my list of banned places to eat for lunch around the job. I really need to start bringing my lunch more often.

I don’t give out 1 stars that often, but this place deserves it. First of all, I really honestly cannot understand the accents spoken by the employees. I’m not being a bigot, I teach public speaking and have had international students with thick accents, but these people are off the chart. Communication is literally not possible. The food was also not that great, we got the breakfast panninis and I was not very happy, and they put mayo on a egg and ham breakfast sandwich, what the hell? Anyways, I’m not going back. See for yourself.

Yes their sandwiches are delish, and sometimes I come here craving their pasta salad. Can’t complain about the food, the service, or the prices… but there is something bothering me about this and just about every other La Bou… the hours suck! Want La Bou on the weekend or at dinner time? No Dice. Late night munchies? Too bad. Please open a 24 hour location somewhere in this town! I know it’s a lot to ask but it would be amazing!

I tried to give them another chance. They are steps away from my house, I felt it was only fair. But everything still tastes like crap. The pumpkin muffin that I ordered had raisins in it. WTF? Who puts raisins in muffins — why tarnish a beautiful pumpkin muffin with the devil-tainted-grapes? Plus, it was dry and half of it stuck to the wrapper. :sigh: c’mon, any business PLEASE move closer to UCDMC, I am desperate for a neighborhood morning spot.

There aren’t many places around the UC Davis Medical Center to eat, so this place has sort of a monopoly in the area. It’s overpriced, but no one wants to venture out too far while having to keep an appointment. You’ll find doctors, nurses, students, and patients all eating at this cafeteria styled restaurant. The lines can be long, but they go fast so you better know what you want or else be prepared to listen to the sighs of those standing in line behind you. They’ve got a good variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, pastries, and other relatively healthy food. + clean restroom & outdoor seating

Their Thai Chicken Curry w/Jasmine Rice would taste better with dark meat(that’s chicken legs and thighs for all you perverts). Portions are generally generous, but still not a good value. Good luck trying to work from here… it gets too loud(even with state-of-the-military-art noise-cancellation technology on the bluetooth), the free WiFi is unreliable, and power outlets have gone the way of the Dodo.

I love their Thai Chicken soup. The spices gradually start to kick in, but never gets too hot to be unbearable. Their salads are always fresh and guess what? pastries are usually half off after 2pm.(their big chocolate chunk cookie is delish, but not as good as when I make it!)

The food here is mediocre at best. The Thai curry chicken soup is good on some days and watery on other days. The veggie salads always seem overcooked and bland. I would stick with the hot panini or one of the cold sandwiches to be safe. Delivery is ridiculously expensive, it was something like $ 17 delivery charge for food for 10 people. The Avocado Club avocado, red delicious apples, Chevre goat cheese, sprouts, romaine lettuce and mayo on walnut bread. This sandwich is not bad. Roast Beef and Caramelized Onions roast beef, smoked mozzarella cheese, sweet mustard, mayo, and romaine lettuce on sourdough baguette This one is OK. But do you want something that is not so bad? Unless you work at UC Davis, drive to Dad’s or the Bread store and get a good sandwich. 1 star = Poor. I would not eat here for free or if you paid me. 2 star = So-So. I would rather eat somewhere else. 3 star= Average. I would or would not eat here again. It would depend on my company. 4 star= Good. I would recommend eating here. 5 star= Excellent. Driving two hours to eat here, would be time well spent.
