The sushi chefs were nice and welcoming. They immediately greet you. Great smiles and nice people. Definitely a plus! –Salmon king roll #111 and it was just alright. The salmon was not seared right and did not even tasted like salmon and the rice was overly sour. Avocado was not that fresh either. I’ve asked for green onions on my roll but they forgot. The whole roll just taste less than average –Lobster hand roll– soggy and just alright. Overall the sushi is not that great and I’m not even that particular about sushi. Maybe it’s what I’ve order that wasn’t great. I don’t know. People say the ramen is good though The ambiance is cozy and I love how they have a parking lot for easy access

Overall, the experience was great. I’ve tried a couple of things there, but one that stood out was the spicy pork ramen(I don’t remember what it’s called). Personally, I LOVE spicy food and yet to find a place(other than Thai restaurants) that can satisfy my spicy pallet, but this place was a score! I also tried the unagi bowl, which was soooo good. The only thing I would have to critique on is our waiter, he didn’t seem very familiar with the menu, but definitely something that can be overlooked. He could’ve easily been a new worker, but overall loved it!

Service was nice, attentive. They brought out a small appetizer(sunomono salad) right away and our menus, water. We ordered, nigiri(unagi), ramen(house 2⁄4 spicy) and sushi rolls. It was all yum. Custom roll, wrapped in cucumber, inside 2 different type of fish, crab salad,. and some ponzu sauce on top. This roll was great and refreshing. Spider roll was ok. Maybe it needs bigger or more cucumber or something else. .Mt. Fugi roll? This one was too large and looked clumsy. Bigger is not always better.

As a business owner, i can see that when you’re slow… You advertise to get more business. However, it’s bad business practice to not honor a coupon that you actively sold in order to get more clientele. They purposely sold coupons on to get business, but told me they cancelled it and won’t be honoring any more of these. PLEASEBEAWAREIF U HAVEONE… DONOTBEDUPEDINTOCOMINGHEREANDPURCHASING $ 50WORTHOFFOOD. They will not honor it, nor do anything for you to make amends. Im extremely disappointed. Food was decent but way over priced for what you get. Staff was polite but that was about it. Waited for 20+ minutes thinking it must have been a good size meal but when i received it… small portion to say the least. One more observation that killed it for me sinced i lived in Japan for 7years, the staff were NOT Japanese!

We really love this place. Great Happy Hour deals — that even apply to your«to-go» orders. There is generally lots of seating — which is surprising because the place is priced reasonable and is good. Great vegan rolls with tempura, yummy asparagus, avocado, etc. Edamame is served warm and perfectly salted. The sushi quality might be a little inconsistent — and that’s why it’s not 5 stars — because sometimes the sushi is amazing and sometimes just really good. We like to go and watch NBATV — when there’s a good game playing. The people are very nice and friendly. Service is good. It has become one of our favorite go-to places(and to-go) for sushi. We haven’t tried the Ramen yet, but hope to soon. It’s probably the best sushi in town — for the price. I think there is better sushi — if you want to splurge.

Came here Sunday night for dinner. I remember this place use to be Hokkaido years back. My friend told me this is her go to spot for Ramen, so I thought I should give it a try. I ordered the Red Tonkatsu and Pepperfin. I told the waitress that i wanted my Ramen Extra spicy, she told me it’s comes very spicy. Pepperfin came out first. It was good, but i wished the jalapeño was spicy. There wasn’t any heat at all. blah! Ramen came next and it was too pretty to eat. NOT! I killed my bowl. It was so good with the perfect amount of heat. I would definitely come back for more RAMEN!

Have been here several times and the food has always been good! I like things spicy, so when I come I order their house special ramen with the red tonkatsu broth! Their rolls are pretty good, but I think the star here is their ramen! Service has always been great and price here is comparable to other sushi/ramen spots. Definitely would recommend this place!

Place are fine. I expected more of this place. Cause the foods are looks amazing or. I ordered HH Pepperfin for $ 8 — it was fine not very good just fine. HH Fantasy Roll for $ 6 — with Ebi inside and Green onions, salmon on top, masago with masago and green onions again lol and special sauce. It was fine taste. Lol but onions are strong lol. HHOMG roll for 6 $ — this with salmon also and panko shrimp inside spicy I actually didn’t try it cause I don’t eat spicy lol. Chirashi Don for 18 $ — I actually Love chirashi but it’s my first time to see this kind lol it’s only Salmon, TUNA, Mackerel, Egg, Albacore if I’m wrong with that fish correct me lol but I actually really forgot what is that fish. And it’s also have seaweed. I’m not satisfied with my 18 $!! Lol it should be a lot fish in there. SERVICE– let me tell you we went there not busy one Sushi Chef and One Server three customers lol. Server was slow I make I contact to get our check but it took 10min lol to give our check. Sushi Chef. :(I know you’re the only one who worked on that time. The most delicious sashimi I’ve ever tasted would have to be at Kyoto. They’re amazing! Because the chef gets his fish delivered daily you’ll always get the best quality for the price, which is also reasonable. Happy hour is 11am-5pm and lots to choose from. I already have a couple favorites which are the sashimi platter and grilled lamb chops. The rolls are great too! Overall it was a great experience at Kyoto and I’ll definitely eat there again.

The variety on the happy hour menu is pretty decent and the hours they promote it are exceptional. Rolls are average, stuffed mushrooms were good as well as the pepperfinn but small slices :/the waitress didn’t hear or see that I was dying of thirst for 10 mins so I went up and refilled my own drink… love the bidet toilet!

On the quality to quantity scale of sushi, this one is the optimal point in regards to quantity. Any quality less than this is undesirable. This place is solely laudable for its fabulous happy hour prices. From 11 am to 5 pm, certain rolls are only $ 6. Can you believe this?! This is definitely my go-to place whenever I crave a sushi fix. I have narrowed my selection to two rolls: the OMG roll and the Fantasy roll. The Fantasy, has a great garlic flavor, good fish and if prepared properly, is slightly torched for a warmer feel. The OMG is pretty standard when it comes to sushi: shrimp tempura, salmon, crab salad, and sriracha. I’ve noticed that certain chefs on certain days prepare the food differently. I think Wing? prepared my favorite version of these rolls. I tend to phone in order(prices are still half-off) and have learned that they take foreeever to process orders. Oftentimes, they don’t start making it until I get there. It’s fine, just know that you need to call 30 minutes in advance and take their 15 minute estimation with a grain of salt. The aura of this place is nice. Definitely a great first date place. Sushi bar and various tables available for seating. There is also plenty of parking(for a downtown restaurant) on the side of the building. The cashiers are always very friendly as well. Overall, this is my most frequented sushi place, because of the great deal and the sufficient quality of the sushi.

Had a great experience with the food here. Went here for lunch and ordered off the happy hour menu. I got the Shoyu Ramen and the super star roll. My friend ordered the chicken bento box. The food and prices were awesome. We got a fair amount of food for the price. Everything tastes fresh and the staff was friend and restaurant was clean. I eat a lot if Asian food and I’d have to say I am pleased with my find. I will be coming back for sure.

Can’t say enough good things about Kyoto’s. The food was excellent, Sukiyaki was almost as good as Bachan’s(the highest compliment possible). The service was great and our waitress even remembered us from our first visit. Sashimi was fresh and well prepared. So far have been here three times in our first month living in Sacramento and will be back again.

I had the privilege of joining the 1 year anniversary celebration when I made my frost visit. It definitely set the standard of taste and service. Fortunately, they stay consistent with it time and time again. They are more than just a sushi restaurant. They have ramen, rice dishes, appetizers, sashimi, beer, sake, and much more. You must see the menu to understand the vast options you have. Let’s talk about the sushi. They have your standard rolls and nigiri sushi but what really sets them apart is the frequent specials and new creations the sushi chefs make. You can always find something new every visit. You will not be disappointed if you make a visit to this little sushi spot out in sac town. Tell them that Rick sent you and you might get something special ;)

I’ve been to this sushi joint several times already and it’s my favorite in the area especially because of their happy hour which runs from 11−5pm every single day, which is perfect for lunch or early dinner as well! Their happy hour ramens are only $ 5.50 and sushi is around $ 6 or so for a full roll. Can’t get any better for the price.

I came here with my boyfriend to because we were craving ramen and the pictures look really good! When we came in the hostess greeted us and was very generous. We both ordered the most popular ramen(House special Ramen) because it had so much meat variety(chashu, chicken, and shrimp). The food arrived to our table pretty quick and it looked super good like the photos! The chicken was decent, but I wasn’t used to eating grilled chicken with my ramen. The broth was unfortunately too bland for my boyfriend and me, which was pretty disappointing. However the chashu was SOOOGOOD! probably the best part of the dish! Next time I want to try their sushi rolls because they are super cheap during Happy Hour!($ 3-$ 6). Pros: great service, prices are decent, chashu was delicious! Cons: broth was too bland which overall ruined the dish for me

Ordered Ramen and a sushi roll and then got food poisoning from this place. I already felt like I was having a stomachache a while after I ate and then 5 mins after I left Kyoto I had to go to the nearby Starbucks toilet to throw up. I literally threw up all the food I ate. I can’t believe I paid so much for it. Their price is not cheap. If you want ramen go to Raijin or Shoki, don’t waste your money here. Their sushi is not fresh either, fish tasted like it’s been fridged for days. I also ordered the bacon skewer thing, which came out burnt. I see nothing good from this place, seriously don’t know how this place got overall 4 stars. If I could I’d give 0 star. I never write reviews but this is so bad that I had to give Kyoto my first. Also, waitress was not nice. I will never ever come back and I’ve already told all of my friends not to come in case they get sick too.

for the OMG roll: huge rolls for $ 11, about 10⁄11 pcs. Big, fresh rolls of salmon on top, big pieces of shrimp tempura and yummy spicy tuna. Perfect blend! Couldn’t get enough. Hubby had 1 piece. Hehe for service: They weren’t busy at all, but they were mingling with the chef and 2 other customers at the bar. They were very attentive and polite. We asked for so much stuff. One at a time – unintentionally – and they gave us everything right away, all smiles. A pair came in, whom I believe they’re close friends with because they greeted each other with laughter and calling out their names, and they were chatting with them at the counter, but still they came to check on us and make sure we’re still doing ok. I gave them a good tip for the awesome service. I didn’t get their names, but it was the young man and lady. White tonkatsu ramen: I give this 0 stars. We tried this place for their ramen because my sister said it’s really good. She said their broth is really close to our fave ramen place in LA(Daikokuya). And no one comes close to them, but she bragged about this place. And we went in here because Heat Shabu Baru across the street had a 25−35min wait and there was no parking. & on top of that it was pouring and we had our 2 kids with us. With 1 tiny umbrella. So 1 star for Kyoto having a parking lot, though small, very convenient. Anyway, we got 2 orders. The ramen was bland. Bland, bland, B-L-A-N-D. We didn’t know what to put in it to make it better since we only had soy sauce on our table. So we added that. Then the broth just tasted like soy sauce. Lol. Though the portion was big, we just got full, but not satisfied. We didn’t want to waste it, so we forced it down. Ahi poke: Same as the ramen… It was sooo tiny though and it was $ 11. It was on a tiny square appetizer plate with the green leaves(I have no idea what it is or what it’s called) with the ahi slices(4 cubes) sitting right on top. Hubby ordered it and it was our first time trying it together… He thought the texture of the ahi was weird. He asked for white vinegar to try and tolerate it, but he just didn’t want to touch it anymore. I eat raw sushi now so I was ok with it. I ate it alone(w/o the greens) dipped in soy sauce. I didn’t want to waste it. Overall, I’d come back for the sushi rolls. Not so much for the ramen.

Came here with friends before a night on the town. I had ordered a Spicy Double Salmon roll(called a «double» because it had salmon on the inside and outside of the roll) and my husband had the Sushi Combo A. I had asked how spicy my roll was and if they could tone down the spice for me. «No problem» said the waiter. When my roll arrived it looked very nice but was as spicy as h*ll!!! I swear they stuffed sriracha in every nook and cranny of that roll… much too strong for my liking. I ended up only eating 1.5 pieces and had to order a Boxer roll instead. My husband’s sushi A combo came with 5 pieces of salmon sashimi and 2 of the 5 pieces still had pieces of fish bone in it. One of our friends(a regular at Kyoto who spends $ 50+ by himself on their sushi) asked if jalapeños could be added to his roll and was charged a dollar extra for thin slivers that he couldn’t even taste. Not a bad place if you’re in a pinch but I’ll stick to my regular sushi spot… Sushi Q.

The one star is because they have happy hour prices on a Saturday afternoon. This place looked really promising but I was extremely disappointed. I went in on a Saturday afternoon with a group of 6 classmates(7 in total) and we were seated and given menus and water. There were only two other tables there at the time. We had a few people in the group who don’t eat sushi often and naturally had a few questions. The waiter answered the questions and left. When we were ready to order, I signaled to him that we were ready. I signaled 4 times. Each time, he looked at me and didn’t come over. He was too busy chatting with a table(the customers were Chinese and so was the waiter). They were having a good ol’ time chatting it away in Chinese and our table was trying to order. Well my classmate finally spoke up and said we are ready to order after he ignored me. He said ok and instead of coming over, he walked back to the table of Chinese customers to chat again. At this point, my classmates had enough and decided to leave since we were on a time crunch. A few of them walked out and I was ready to too when he walked over and said he was ready to take our order. I said to him in Chinese that we were ready to order a long time ago and we were on a time crunch. He looked extremely embarrassed after realizing I spoke Chinese and apologized to me in Chinese. However, he continued to be really rude to my classmates. His reasoning for not coming back to take our order? «You still had questions so you weren’t ready to order. When you don’t have questions anymore, I know you will order» but isn’t that his job to answer any questions we had about the menu?! This was a ridiculous answer. We ended up ordering anyways and a classmate got sick from the food. The place doesn’t look bad on the outside but beware of the horrible customer service. I’m still debating on whether or not he did that to us because we were a mixed group.

Came here last night on a whim after tacos… because what better dessert than sushi? I’ve been here before(sometime last summer) and it was fine, nothing special, but was good and the fish was tasty. This time, I came in with my neighbor. We had uni nigiri while waiting for our hamachi and salmon don. Why get $ 5 nigiri with only two pieces when you can get a $ 15 don with NINE pieces?! And full of sushi rice?! This is my new favorite thing. Best Monday idea yet.

Actually if I could, I would give this place NEGATIVE stars for the service, quality of the food, and for the pain my friend and I suffered immediately after the consumption of the food. We both threw up all the contents of the meal within 10 minutes of finishing. For 2 people, we ordered the items off of the happy hour menu: 2 tonkotsu ramens, 1 quail egg wrapped in pork yakitori, and 1OMG sushi roll. My complaints –The meat in the ramen was possibly tainted –Pork was burnt & I don’t think they cook the yakitori skewers over charcoal –Egg in ramen and quail egg were overcooked and dry –The raw fish in the sushi was warm with a goopy brown sauce on the bottom Because I didn’t want to cause a scene and the items were off the happy hour menu, I didn’t have any of the food sent back. I expected to only pay $ 22 plus tip for the happy hour items, but was chased down by the waitress on our way out. Redic! I would not eat at this restaurant if I had to pay for these mediocre food for the regular price. She said if I paid using the app, she will give me a 10% discount off the total of the food based off the regular prices. After seeing my receipt, I don’t think she actually gave me the«10% discount». I ended up paying $ 40 for food that exited our bodies immediately after consumption. Thank you for allowing me to pay you to cook me bad food only to barf it out. Food poisoning is so fun! Negative stars Will never come back Where’s my refund?

Actually if I could, I would give this place NEGATIVE stars for the service, quality of the food, and for the pain my friend and I suffered immediately after the consumption of the food. We both threw up all the contents of the meal within 10 minutes of finishing. We used«Requested» for lunch at Kyoto on Thursday 11⁄5. For those who are not familiar with Requested, it is a reservation booking app with discounts available during certain hours of the day, and it’s currently available to use in Sacramento restaurants. Because there was no discount offered during the time we made the reservation, we thought that we could order any item on the menu, including the happy hour menu(for example, if there is like a 10% discount at the time you make a reservation, you’re not allowed to order from any further discounted menu/happy hour menu). We even asked our waitress/possibly owner to confirm if it was ok to order from the happy hour menu and she said yes and allowed us to move forward with our order. For 2 people, we ordered the items off of the happy hour menu: 2 tonkotsu ramens, 1 quail egg wrapped in pork yakitori, and 1OMG sushi roll. My complaints –The meat in the ramen was possibly tainted –Pork was burnt & I don’t think they cook the yakitori skewers over charcoal(not legit) –Egg in ramen and quail egg were overcooked and dry –The raw fish in the sushi was warm with a goopy brown sauce on the bottom Because I didn’t want to cause a scene and the items were off the happy hour menu, I didn’t have any of the food sent back. This place was ok. Their sushi didn’t taste fresh to me. The price was normal 8 – 10 $ for a roll. The thing that caught us by surprise was their«special roll» which was $ 8. When I say special it means it was a special request. My friend has a son who doesn’t have a palate yet but loves the sushi roll with tempura flakes on top and nothing in the center. Basically just rice seaweed and tempura flakes. She ordered two and it came to $ 16. My rolls came cheaper and it actually had tuna in it. Nonetheless you get a good waitress and a clean place.

Came here before, but I never reviewed! Anyways, food is reasonably priced here. Sushi averages $ 8 – 10 with generous portion sizes. Friendly staff. Our waiter wasn’t the most friendly, but the owner took photos with his instant-photo camera to post of the group. Only complaint was that the food took a while and the waitress simply said it was because we got there late and ordered later… but even so we were waiting around a while since ordering. My friend got a really nice birthday dessert, which was fabulous. :) Would come back.

My only complaint is that it’s slllllloooooowwww. I don’t expect my food here to be fast food fast, but goodness, when you have plenty of state employees coming in during the lunch rush it would be nice to actually eat versus scarfing food down. Omakase please! We asked the chef make us a small platter of his choice of nigiri and sashimi. Our request was that he omit Saba(mackerel) and Sake(salmon). It was a work of art! Chef Brian included my favorite Ankimo(monkfish liver) and mom’s favorite Uni(sea urchin). The platter had a variety of fresh and delicious slices of melt in your mouth fish. It was quite impressive! I’ll admit that my photo didn’t display everything on the plate. Plus, the Omakase dish was delivered right on cue. No waiting around for minutes on end, waiting impatiently. Fast, precise, artistic hands that the sushi chef has here! Along with the omakase, we ordered: *Gyoza-delicious *Oysters(Kuma or Miyagi?) on the half shell –Delish *Kaki Fry(fried oysters) although small, compared to other places, it was quite tasty! *Tempura –satisfactory *OMG ROLL-fantastic Cute location, great service by our friendly male server, sorry, I didn’t catch his name! He was pretty awesome, for being so young. With everything we ordered, we paid a little bit over a $ 100, we would’ve paid a lot more at other places! This sushi restaurant is located in Broadway and luckily, they have their own parking spaces for customers so parking isn’t too hard to find. Upon arrival, I was seated promptly. The restaurant isn’t too big so there’s only one server taking care of all the tables. Service was good, it could’ve been a little faster. Now on to the food. Stuffed jalapeños: deep fried battered jalapenos with some type of meat inside. I got this as an appetizer and I was pretty relieved it wasn’t too spicy. I thought this plate was alright. I would probably try another appetizer next time Lamp chops: you get to choose how you want your lamp chops cooked and this had lots of flavor! It comes with a bowl of rice. I thought the rice balanced out the flavor of the lamp chops perfectly. The flavor kind of reminded me of something you would taste at a Korean bbq restaurant 49er: this roll had salmon and guac on top. I thought this roll was really good! The guac on top was creative. The panko shrimp gave it a nice crunch and had a good spice from the siracha sauce. American Dream: my boyfriend liked this roll. It has a few different types of fish on it and drizzled with lots of sauce. Salmon salad: if you like salmon and garlic, you will love this. The salmon is seared and has garlic aioli right on top. Overall impression: this place was alright. The sushi itself had lots of rice and I had to pick most of the rice out of the rolls. I felt that the sushi rice wasn’t prepared properly cause I can see the rice falling apart from the sushi. However, their happy hour menu would probably convince me to come back. I would love to try their ramen and udon noodles next

My friend and I were in search of a ramen house and stumbled upon Kyoto. The interior is a bit small and has a homey-cozy feeling, imitating the Japan feel(even the toilets — check it out). The waitress was friendly and said we could seat ourselves. Service was good, our food came out in a timely manner, and occasionally asked how our food tasted. I ordered the red tonkatsu ramen and my friend had the dinner bento box with mixed tempura and sesame chicken, and we both shared the OMG roll. My ramen had a nice spicy kick to it(I love spicy foods and this wasn’t too spicy) and the tonkatsu pork melted in my mouth; overall, one of the better ramen I’ve had in Sac. The OMG roll was a decent size, the fish was fresh and plenty, and there was a good amount of sauce(fyi in case you don’t like sauce, but I thought I complimented well). The dinner bento box had huge portions. I tried a little bit of the sesame chicken; it was moist with a light batter. I would definitely recommend this place! I’m looking forward to trying the pork belly ramen next time. ;)
