Saw great views so went to try it out. Was out of mac and cheese at 5pm on saturday. Also out of corn bread. My stomach is paying for it now. Must not have been their day.

Last time I was here, the noodles were not very great. Well at least not like how it used to be. The broth was warm and the ground meat that goes in the noodle was salty and tasted like it was getting old. The other dish I ordered were the brisket and ribs combo with sides. Which I also thought was okay only. The brisket was wayyy too fatty for me that it made me wanna gag. Idk if it was just a bad batch for my order and I just so happened to get that part of the meat but I was disappointed. The ribs were okay as well. The taste for me Wasn’t a wowing factor like how I wish I’d be though. It was just plain BBQ that I prob can make at home. The sides also weren’t that great. I got the Mac & cheese. It wasn’t creamy enough. Texture was Almost doughy like. Service wise, the person was a sweetheart.

I wanted to give this place 5 stars but I couldn’t because the wait time was insane. We came on a Friday night and it wasn’t crowded. It was 6pm. They said they ran out out of Mac n cheese. That’s ok. We ordered the 4 way plate to share. Now here’s why we deducted a star. We ended up getting our food at 7 pm. Yes ONEHOURWAITTIME. However the food was just sooooooo good and it was a lot of food. I don’t know what happened. They also kept bringing out the wrong food. The guy with the long hair was super nice and very apologetic. He looked like he was running the place. I felt bad for him. Overworked. Anyhow the guy behind the counter and the taste of the food was well worth it. They should have offered something while the food was being made. But oh well. Still great. Work on the wait time though.

I popped by on a weekday at 5 because I was hungry and BBQ sounded good. This was my first visit. MacKenzie was working the counter and took time to walk me through the menu. He was very helpful! He encouraged me to try a few meats and he made some great choices for me. The brisket was awesome and tender, chicken was perfectly cooked(I don’t like my chicken overly moist). He picked potato salad and Mac and Cheese for my sides. The potato salad rocked and the Mac and cheese was pretty good. The corn bread was tasty and not gritty. Overall I would certainly go again. Mostly I really appreciated how patient and helpful MacKenzie was. If I could change anything it would be to redecorate the place to make it look less strip mall and more BBQ destination. Give it a try.

Goodness no! Ordered the brisket, beans and macaroni cheese. Macaroni cheese was actually pretty good. The brisket was rubber and bounces. Yuck! The beans OMG, Burnt. Anyway never again for me and good luck for you. I’d drive right past this guys place for the simple fact that you don’t serve burnt beans.

We love the food. Good flavor and solid tasting meats. BUT they only have 4 sides to choose from. They Always tell us the deep fryer will soon be up and running for Okra and onion rings and fries. Only 4 sides are listed on the board. They’ve been telling us this for over a year now. This means I’m always forced to get two of the same side :-(. We are here on a Saturday evening and there is ONE yes ONE person working here. 3 people waiting in line and another still waiting on his food. Soda machine has 2 sodas«out of order». We also just had to laugh because the machine is completely out of ice. If their meat wasn’t so good we would’ve gone elsewhere a LONG Time ago. It’s also 5:30 pm on a Saturday and we were just told they were running out of Tri-Tip?! WTF. And the couple behind us was just told they ran out of baked beans. AND to boot they took 30+ minutes to assemble our meals. We just got home at 6:20pm. This will be the last time we eat here. We have given them a dozen chances but there’s no point any longer. This place is always as if they’re about to go out of business at any moment. Like I said, the food is OK but the owner needs to be ALLIN and have all the sides they originally promised the first time we came in over a year ago, and full service on the sodas, not constantly running out of standard BBQ items, and just generally full service. This is why no one takes this spot seriously!

We were looking for some local bbq since the fiancé was craving it. Unilocal,I feel failed, as you can tell from the photos I posted this place was an epic fail. Ended up throwing away $ 40 worth of inedible bbq. I will say this, the two stars is for the guy behind the counter who was very friendly and insisted we would love their bbq. Even made it a point to mention they’re under new management as of a month ago. Not impressed at all :(We ordered half short, half baby, and sausage links… what we actually got Was dried out sausage links, more like rubbery coins of red disks, the short ribs looked like they had already been pre-chewed by a pit bull, and the baby back ribs actually looked half way edible. Just seemed like it had been sitting there for some time throughout the day and got dried out. If anyone can please suggest a good bbq place I would greatly appreciate it. Sandra Dee’s is pretty good, but wanted something a little more local. Guess I will be sticking to the chain Dickeys. I was so excited about a business that wasn’t a chain :(Perhaps we just caught them on an awful day.

Shame on me as this place is within walking distance and I just finally dropped in here today. I wanted beef and couldn’t make up my mind as to tri tip or brisket? So the guy behind the counter, Mac, offered me a ½ & ½ sandwich. With a side of slaw and a soda it came to just under $ 13.00. Sorry, that is just too much money for lunch. That is probably the reason I was the only person eating lunch. A couple of Women came in, checked out the prices, and walked right out. He brought my sandwich to me and it was HUGE! After seeing how large the sandwich was I didn’t feel quite as bad for spending $ 12.00+ for lunch. It was good as was the cole slaw. The tri tip was just a little dry, but of course the BBQ sauce helped that out. The sauce was good too, but I ask if they had any spicy sauce and they did. It was just a little too spicy so I blended the two BBQ sauces. Perfect! This was overall a great sandwich and I was glad I was trying it out. My problem is the price is way too steep for a lunch. The sandwich was huge so why not sell ½ a sandwich for ½ the price for lunch? They really had no lunch crowd to speak of, but 2 people did come in and order while I was there eating. But, I was there for about 45 minutes as I wasn’t in a hurry and was reading Huff Post on my phone. What makes today OK for me is I brought ½ the sandwich home for a second lunch. Most people can’t do that and have to go back to work. So why not ½ sandwich for ½ price?

My husband and I was craving for some baby back ribs. Unilocal this place and had good reviews. We decided to give it a try. We order back back ribs and brisket with coleslaw, beans, Mac and cheese and potato salad. The meat was good but the side dishes was nasty. The coleslaw had no flavor. The Mac and cheese taste like it was made of out a box. The beans tasted like it was from a can. The potato salad tastes like it was from the store kinda flavor less. I saw that they sell kasoy. I wanted to order it but they said they ran out. wHAT? You guys run out of food? It’s a restaurant. How the hell do u run out of food to sell. What a disappointment.

I love this place! I have eaten here several times in the last year. Every time I walk in the door I am greeted promptly and politely. I generally order the same thing every time I go, which is the«Two way» with baby back ribs and brisket(since they took tri-tip off the menu.) As for sides I go mac and cheese for both options and some corn bread(for good measure.) Today I walked in and ordered my usual, got home opened it up and smiled. my meat was so incredibly tender It literally fell off of the bone. The meat always has just the right about of smoke and the sauce is out of this world. Word of warning however, the hot BBQ sauce is HOT!!! and I’m one that eats hot food. The mac and cheese has a unique hint of garlic(i think) which I enjoy but a purest may not. All in all I have only had great experiences here, if I had to find one thing to complain about its that my meat was so tender I had a difficult time keeping it on a fork.(See what I did there?)

How did I not know that a Bar-B-Que spot opened up less than a ½ mile away from my house? I mean it’s not like the good god’s didn’t know I love Bar-B-Que, but that’s. I found out that place was here today… and so today I went to check it out! This place is located in a small plaza filled other restaurants and is in the back, so you won’t see if from the street, unless you know where to look. Once in the plaza and notice that the front door is located behind one of the pillars to the building. The inside has a real southern feel to it, and I don’t what it is about seeing the common red and white checkered picnic tablecloths that make me feel like the food is good and authentic. After looking over the menu for a few minutes, I decided on the Brisket and Pork Spare Ribs ‘Two Way’ meal with the spicy barbecue sauce. Along with the mac and cheese and baked beans. For my two boys they got the 5-piece chicken strips, since the guy at the counter said that that strips were pretty big. The wait for our food wasn’t very long at all, the young man at the counter when I was asking about the meals did day that it was all made earlier in the day. So our wait was about 10 – 15 minutes. Once our food arrived, the 1st thing I thought was… good lord that’s a lot of food for 3 people; 2 of which were under the age of 12. But that’s ok, if I said I was mad I’d be a liar. Everything looked delicious and I decided to try the brisket first. OMJ(and yes the J was intentional, lol) it was sooo delicious. The brisket had been slowed cooked for so long that it just fell apart when I stuck a fork in it, and after that first taste. And after having that meat and little bits of chard fat melt in my mouth, I realized the fork was just slowing me down. So I just used my fingers, dipped the brisket in the hot barbecue sauce; and proceeded to be in heaven! The pork spare ribs on the other hand were a little sub par compared to the brisket, maybe it was a case of going from great to okay. The spare ribs had a lot more fat then I’m used to, but their flavor was really good. The mac and cheese was ok, I thought it would be cheesier. And the chicken strips looked really nice and crispy, I didn’t try it but my boys loved it. Overall their hot sauce and brisket were so delicious, and for that just in itself. I’m go back to try again, and there’s of other dishes on the menu that I thought about getting. That I just might try next time!

Ever since my first review I’ve been back countless of times. The first time I came back it was still called Jayden’s noodles. At the time I was just starting to like kasoy and I definitely loved this place’s! Fast forward a few months, they remodeled the place into Kris Que BBQ. I don’t like BBQ much so I don’t know what compelled me to come but I’m glad I did because turns out its still run by the same owner. They just change their content but they still had kasoy! Best kasoy and kapoon in my area that’s for sure. I’ve also tried their BBQ and it has definitely changed my mind. I love it now and I recommend their brisket. It’s so tender and delicious. Customer service is still great and I like how they have tvs to keep you entertain. The reason why I’m not giving this place a five star is because they change their mind too often. Came here for kasoy about a few months ago and they said they didn’t serve it anymore. Then I come on to Unilocal and it said that they bought it back? Just keep it already lol. Also they don’t have kapoon anymore just kasoy. But they also have sticky rice with papaya salad and with sausage.

OK Mo Mo’s Meat Market, you finally have some real competition in Elk Grove! Really, Kris’s Que BBQ may set a new bar for barbecue in the Sacramento region and is worth a trip. I found this place on Unilocal which was lucky because you could easily miss the restaurant’s location in a small strip mall off Elk Grove-Florin. There is a small red«BBQ» panel on the main sign, but the place is tucked into the back. You will be rewarded when you finally find it. Anyplace that spells their name with a K like me deserves extra credit, but these guys can stand on their own. The interior of the restaurant is nice with several tables with lots of sauces and paper towels, including a large family table in the front. They have a TV and soda fountain and a moderate amount of décor and tchotchkes. The pure focus is the food. Their menu has the standard barbecue, plus a few options including fried chicken and kasoy, and use a mix of peach and apple wood for smoking — although the place lacks a visible plume of smoke. The meat was awesome. I had a two-way, because of course three-ways are still pretty complicated. My choices included beef brisket, pork spare ribs, macaroni and cheese, beans, and a welcome King’s Hawaiian Sweet Roll! The brisket was spot on for taste, texture, and mouth feel. The meat was fork tender, but still firm, and needed no sauce to hide its awesome smoky, beefy flavor. The ribs were nearly perfect with a different rub that worked better with the fall apart tender ribs. Their house sauce really complimented the ribs with a nice slightly-spicy KC style sauce. The mac and cheese was nearly perfect with a roux base and lots of pepper. The beans were a little watery, but executed well. Staff on a Sunday were very friendly and helpful. The addition of some Asian dishes was well received by several families in the restaurant. It is hard to think of anything wrong here, except that they are not next to my house! If you like barbecue, you need to come here quickly. Kris’s Que BBQ has reignited my faith that good barbecue is possible in Sacramento!

It’s not easy to find a new place to eat in Elk Grove. I did a quick Unilocal search and found this place. When my friend and I walked in, we were told that they no longer served kapoon/kasoy. :/In order to try a variety of their meats, we got the four way with chicken, hot link, beef tri-tip, and brisket. The tri-tip was tender and didn’t require me to do a lot of chewing. The drumstick/thigh was on the small side, but it was moist and fell off the bone. The hot link was good too, but not as plump as other sausages. The brisket was the only thing I didn’t care for. It was a bit dry. Our meal also came with dinner rolls and two sides. We had the macaroni & cheese and potato salad. My friend liked the mac & cheese, but I thought the sauce was too runny. The potato salad is typical of most other potato salads. After all this, we also had a Spirit Cake. We had the red velvet, kahula & white chocolate frosting bundt cake. The cake was moist and we could definitely taste the kahulua. I won’t say this is the best BBQ joint, but it was good. The guys that work here are friendly too!

I just don’t understand the review ratings, I was so disappointed. I kind of had a hunch that the BBQ might not be so great because they made Kasoy and Kapoon, which are Asian noodle dishes. BUT, I went there for their BBQ because their name should say something about what they specialize in right? DECEIVING!!! Their Beef Kasoy tasted better than any of their BBQ foods that I ordered. As a group of 3, we ordered the Beef Kasoy, Hot links, 3 orders of corn bread, the 2 way meal which consisted of baby back ribs and trip of choice, side orders of macaroni and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. The meals come with 2 sides and we ordered another full baby back rib meal and had 2 mac n cheese, mistake that was. I will first start off with the Kapoon, all the Asian people that were there who knows Asian ofod ordered kapoon and kapoon only. All the other ethnicities that dont know about kapoon ordered BBQ. Beef Kapoon: it was not bad, it could have had a bit more flavor to the broth. I always try the broth before adding anything to it. Good broth should need extra condiments and flavor unless some spiciness. We added some extra flavor. For $ 7 it was a very generous portion. Hot link: They were regular hot links and were expensive for 2 whole hot links. It was drenched in BBQ sauce and cut in to diagonal slices. corn bread: $ 2 a slice. Corn bread is suppose to be somewhat dry, nope they were so moist that they were mushy and stuck all over my mouth and teeth when chewing as if it was a moist cupcake. Brisket: THEYWERESOOOOHAAAARD! It was clearly over cooked. Brisket are suppose to be tender. It tasted as if they were re cooked over and over again or just sitting in the oven. Baby back ribs: The best BBQ dish but was still only okay. They drenched in BBQ sauce again, and were very tender. Mac n Cheese: Mac n Cheese from a Kraft box tastes better. It was very runny and no flavor. Baked beans: Tasted like gravy, not great and runny. Cole slaw– There was raisins in it. I found it fairly odd and it lacked taste as well. Customer service– The two young men were very nice and helpful. always smiling. Thumbs up to them!

Woah the food here is very unorthodox lol. They serve mien food and bbq. The place use to be called jayden’s café, same owner just different types of food. Their kasoy here is very good i tried the combo its for $ 8.50 they also serve kapoon here for $ 7 i have yet to try their bbq but will very soon because they’re just down the street from my house. I wish they still sold the laos sausages here with sticky rice but I’ll just settle for the kasoy so delish!

Ordered the 3 way combo with tri tip, baby back ribs and hot links with mac and cheese and coleslaw as my side! It came with a piece of corn bread so I ordered one more jalapeño corn bread for myself and my lady boss to share! Everything came up to less than $ 20 and we actually ended up splitting it 3 ways with my coworker, too and we were all full. but then again, us 3 Asian girls eat small-ish portions. My favorite of the 3 meats have got to be the baby back ribs! They really did fall off the bone and since we asked for the BBQ sauce on the side, I was able to drench just the right amount of sauce. I’d definitely be back for those ribs! The hot links were my next favorite because I love sausages and hot links. These weren’t anything special but they were good. Finally, the tri tip was a bit tough and disappointing but I wouldn’t stray from trying it again next time. The jalapeño corn bread was also just alright. Service is awesome! They’re very friendly and social, very quick and efficient. 4 stars mainly because their prices are so decent and their bbq sauce is pretty bomb. Can’t wait to be back to try their brisket and pulled pork next time!

Had this place bookmarked for a few days once I saw it under the new restaurant page. It’s located right next to my old house which isn’t too far from where I currently live. Bf and I were hungry so I suggested we try this place. We arrived near closing time so instead of burdening them by eating there, we decided to order to-go. Mac, the guy who took our order was super duper friendly. He explained that they don’t reuse meat from the day before. All meat is smoked the day of so once they run out of that meat, you’re left to order something else. I missed out on my favorite meat. I will have to come back to see how their chicken is prepared. We decided on a full slap of pork ribs. The full slabs(about 14 ribs) were tender and they fell off the bones without much effort. BBQ sauce is plentiful, small kick to it. The ribs had a faint smokey taste, not overbearing which is good. Full meal comes with two 16oz sides and 4 dinner rolls. Our order didn’t come with the rolls… Not sure if they forgot or if it’s only something for dine-in?(so I knocked off a star for this review). For the sides, potato salad and grilled vegetables. The potato salad was gritty and lacked the crisp creaminess I expected from a potato salad. Grilled vegetables was a little too dry, so I dipped it into the excess BBQ sauce. that helped. I’m still going to root for this place. It’ll be the go-to spot if I’m ever at my parent’s house and need a BBQ catering. I shall inquire about those dinner rolls on my next visit! Until next time~
