So disappointed in the smoked prime rib dinner. No salad or bread served just a very small slice of meat and a tiny portion of veggies and potato for $ 32. My medium rare portion was almost raw and about 1⁄3 of the slice was a huge blob of inedible fat. Same for my husbands slice. When I mentioned it to the server she didn’t seem to want to be bothered. It should have never left the kitchen on a customers plate. The meat did have a little bit of smokiness and what I was able to eat was good but overall not worth it.

Lived up to the hype and worthy of the feature on the food network segment. Had the seafood special which was very delish, and the sauce was amazing. Also had the famous smoked prime rib which was my primary reason for the visit, and I must say, it was probably one of the best prime ribs I’ve had. I have been to many: House of Prime Rib, Alexanders, etc. Flavor and the cook was spot on. Savored every last bite. Service was very fast, maybe a little too fast. I think i was in and out of there in about 30 minutes. I tried their clam chowder as well, and was really impressed. I’m so glad to have come across a place like this in Sacramento. I will definitely be coming back often and already looking forward to my next meal there. I wanted to try so many things on the menu, but my belly wouldn’t allow it, so now I’m forced to go back. I’m not complaining one bit.

Yes, a nice«old school» bar with some great sandwiches. Came here the other day for lunch, a Tuesday I believe and was surprised how busy it was. I order the steak sandwich, and yes it’s as good as everyone says. Comes on a delicious garlic bread.

Went for dinner around 6pm with my husband. We wanted to be there before they ran out of prime rib. We were early enough that we got in without a wait, but within a half hour it was starting to get busy. The prime rib was very good as was the staff. It’s nice to see 16 oz. of meat on your plate too. With so many places serving small steaks this was a pleasant surprise. This is not an inexpensive place to eat, but it is a great place for a meal.

Jamie’s has the best doggone Garlic Steak Sandwich ever. at what can only be described as nice dive bar you will find culinary bliss in the form of Steak Sandwich, filet to be precise, and garlic to be sure. I forget the master of ceremonies behind the bar but he’s as happy to hook you up with a nice glass of wine, and discuss the finer points of which you may never have heard, as he is to sling a cocktail your way and talk about the San Francisco Giants. Hum baby! Fantastic people serving fantastic food at an establishment you normally would not expect. if you get there at the right time(basically nobody else there) parking is easy but it doesn’t take much to make it a little tricky, it is a dive bar after all. However, it is well worth whatever extra bit of a walk it may be.

It’s been a long time coming to this place located at Broadway near ABC10 studios until now. This place named, «Jamie’s Broadway Grille» brings the consumers to taste their sensational food and drinks all day and all night. Since it got featured for Food Network’s «Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives» several years ago, I decided to return here to test it out thanks to Patrick Y’s lunch visit on 4÷13÷2016. As I entered, the atmosphere is quite divey and dark although it has lights on it as I welcomed here. The concept is much like visiting to an Irish pub and a cottage home mixing old school flares with a modern twist. The employees including the servers and bartenders are doing a fine job here for making the customers like me an enjoyable service. No cons at all. Now onto the food! I ordered the Garlic Steak Sandwich with a side of salad and vinaigrette. As I ate it, it tasted not bad! I can feel the flavors of the steak, yet adding with an A-1 sauce which Patrick Y recommended it did makes this sandwich a blast! The add-on toppings from lettuce and tomatoes especially a dollop of mayo is defiantly a breeze too. Finally, the salad is also tasty too. The vinaigrette however, is quite too sweet and salty to me as I ate it a couple of times. I hope it should reduce the content next time. Otherwise, it’s not a bad meal after all. Parking at Jamie’s can be challenging to park. You can park at their smallest lot nor the surface street parking available. Alternatively, you can also ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. To conclude, Jamie’s Broadway Grille is such a great treasured restaurant and dive bar that I’ve ever revisited since my very first visit several years ago. Perfect for nightouts and friends and family gatherings too. My rating: 4 solid stars.

I love this place! Not only was the food, the customer service was superb and our fiod came out really fast! I am really impressed with what this little joint offered. We had the smoked primed ribs with grilled veggies. The portion was huge. This inch thick slab of meat was so flavorful. We tried the brandy fried chicken and the house cheeseburger. Both were great; the chicken was fried to perfection! As appetizers, we enjoyed the clam chowdwler and calatmi. The chowder was tasty and not full of butter like many places. Hands down to the calamari. It was lightly battered and fried. The calamari was thick and full of meat and not batter! It was also kid friendly; my toddler was not a quiet patron. We will definitely be back! Tip — They are only open weekdays. Close on weekends.

This place has been pretty consistent over the years. It reminds me of neighborhood taverns on the East Coast that also serve food. The décor might be a bit rough around the edges, but the food is so tasty that you keep coming back. The service is quite good also. We watched our server clear a table in record time(there wasn’t even anyone waiting for that table – she was just good at her job, and if someone had come in, they could have been seated quickly). She was pleasant, enthusiastic about the food, and helpful. When two of the servers were nearby rolling silverware in napkins, we overheard them talking – they were talking about their work – it was refreshing. They and the bartender clearly all enjoy their jobs – also refreshing. In the past we’ve tried many of their dishes and some favorites have been the reuben, almost any soup, salads, calamari(it’s different than what you might expect – more like calamari steak strips rather than the rings and tentacles you get elsewhere). Last night we had the clubhouse and the sand dabs. The club was not thin slices of lunchmeat; it seemed hand carved. The sand dabs were a whole mess of fish breaded(not battered) and perfectly cooked(crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside) served with a flavorful pilaf with wild rice and bigger pieces of mushroom as well as mixed vegetables. The actual menu is fairly small, but there are always a lot of specials. The menu items listed online are examples of what they might have. The club is on the menu; sand dabs were a special. They also had several other specials last night including meatloaf, Shrimp Louie, and corned beef. Fair warning: your vegetarian friends may not appreciate the animal heads on the wall. But for others, this old-school bar and grill makes pretty consistently yummy dishes.

Delicious, affordable food & incredible service. I got the club house and they just loaded the avocado on, and their fresh turkey was so good. My date got the cheeseburger and devoured it! Highly recommend the fries– so yummy. Mostly street parking, small place, but we went 8pm on a Friday night and were seated immediately.

OK, they do have good sandwiches, for one thing. They also have sand dabs on the menu which will always bring me running, but when we went there to get them yesterday, it turns out that it’s only an occasional special. I call that bait and switch, so beware fellow sand dab lovers. The other thing I feel compelled to mention is that none of these gushing Unilocalers who love it so seem willing to admit that it’s a dive, noisy, very small and well, let’s just say, clean it is not, as well as being off the beaten path… just so you know. Don’t expect too much and you may be OK there.

We happened to be in the area and I just Unilocal a good sandwich place to eat. This place is awesome ! The garlic steak sandwich is so good, the best one I’ve had in years, juicy, tender with the French rolls, perfect seasoning. Totally come back here again whenever in town just for this sandwich. Why not given 5 stars when the sandwich is so good? Ahem — the place need a bit of TLC :)

Just had another great meal here… The seafood grill is unbelievable… They have the best Club sandwich in town – fresh turkey cooked daily and bacon that is thick and rich in flavor… I’ve been here for lunch and dinner often and have never been dissapointed… The location is off the beaten path and parking is limited, but it’s free – not like most downtown and midtown places… The staff is helpful and professional… Very casual atmosphere… Full bar that serves good drinks at fair prices… Just a damn good meal that will bring you back again and again…

4 stars for their burgers and clam chowder. 1 star for the ambience. It’s definitely a dive bar with good greasy food. The restaurant area is very small and they can only accommodate limited people. Our burger was good but I wouldn’t drive across town to eat there again. The bar area was packed and it looks like they definitely have their regulars. Parking is limited, so you may end up parking on the other side of Broadway.

I’ve been coming here since the early 90’s and I’ve never been disappointed. Some of the best food in the downtown Sacramento area can be had here. All the food has a homey type feel to it. That’s both comforting and delicious! My favorite is the turkey club sandwich. I thnk its the best turkey sandwich Ive ever had. The turkey is real(not turkey roll, deli meat) and the bacon is kind of sweet. You godda try it. When you arrive the front parking will probably seem full. But there is plenty of parking in the private lot in back. There is also a full bar with friendly bartenders if your just in the mood for a drink. Stop in and give it a try!

We JUST had the absolute worst customer service. First, we waited over 45 minutes to get a table. During this time, we saw our name move down the list. We were 2nd to be seated then when we looked again we were fourth(fourth party of 3). When I asked for an explanation, a wait staff member said«I don’t have time to show you…» Then came back and said she couldn’t find the other«list.» People, service like this is unacceptable. No matter how good the food is. Go somewhere if you want to be treated with respect.

I love Jamie’s, it is great food, relaxed bar environment, and is quite simply the best place to get some of the best prime rib in Sacramento. Their mixed seafood grille is also an amazing choice for a wonderfully rich, decadent, plate of delicious prawns, scallops, crab, and halibut. It is definitely noisy and not exactly intimate, but the food and service staff are on point. Please check them out, you will not be disappointed.

You know that feeling you get when you walk into a small independent restaurant, and you want the patrons to yell your name, much like shouting«Norm» on the TV show Cheers? thats the feeling you get when you walk into Jamie’s. Its intimate, and feels just that like place in the ‘hood. If you’re just looking for a quick adult type beverage, mosey on in, and grab yourself a barstool right at the bar… if youre hungry, and isn’t that really why you’re trying this place out? go for the garlic steak sandwich. Add cheese if you want that extra layer of OMG taste sensation. This joint is known for this classic sandwich. They just do it right. The bread has a nice crunch, but its also a soft flavorful roll. The garlic and meat are well matched, and the combo is truly delectable. Good sized portions, and priced at around $ 14.00 its served with fries(check out the picture!) If you wanna go fish, try the fish n chips. The fish is lightly breaded with panko, so don’t expect the British version. what you can expect is a lot of fish, and a hefty portion of fries, with a small little salad added to even out the calories. ya gotta keep it healthy! its a pricey dish(around $ 18.00) Parking: look, this is a neighborhood place that you could easily pass by. Its located across from a well known local news station. This place is packed during the lunch hour, and often just as crazy for dinner. its worth the effort to park. Just don’t expect Don Quixote to to come out on his steed and take care of you or your car. The street curb is open, and you should just grab a space when you see it. If you’re there with your SO, a date, or friends, hang with Bill the Buffalo… he’s hanging around on the wall. He’s a regular, and doesnt get out… much. «Head» on over and enjoy!

Jamie’s does two things very well: Meat, and seafood. I rate them up at the top of local seafood restaurants. I mean, you can get better seafood, but we aren’t on the coast, we’re in… Sacramento. Jamie makes it a point to fly seafood in fresh. My favorites are the halibut fish and chips, and the sand dabs, when they are available. They have a menu for standard fare — the garlic steak sandwiches are great, and they had a decent hamburger, but one is remiss not to check out the daily specials, which vary from day to day. When they have prime rib, go there. When they have brisket, go there. Brisket in particular is very difficult to do well. I’ve had underwhelming experiences with some of the local BBQ chain’s brisket being dry and tough. Not here. It will be moist, tender, and will melt in your mouth. Same as with the prime rib and the chuck roast. The place is not cheap, but it’s not over the top expensive either. It’s a decent value and you typically get a lot of food. You might pay twenty bucks for a plate of meat but you’ll get twenty bucks worth of meat. It easily makes my top five list of local restaurants, and the other four come and go. It gets crowded. If you want lunch, come early. If you want dinner, come late. Fridays are the special BBQ night, and Jamie does not disappoint with BBQ.

The gumbo soup was full of flavor and had a spicy kick! Im not a fan of the«smoked» prime rib. The primary complaint I have is the staff rushing you to leave. I wanted to enjoy my meal and my dinner companions. Wait staff and servers were constantly pushing us to leave, practically boxing up my meal while I was still eating.

I’ve been wanting to eat here since I saw it on that show ‘Diners, drive ins & dives’ and I finally was able to last night! The little restaurant/bar is off of Broadway & if your not paying attention, you’d drive right by the almost shack looking building. You walk inside & it almost reminds me of a café you’d find out in the woods… Small, dim lighting, full bar & animal heads on the wall. We were seated right away & all the waitresses were very friendly! We ordered a half order of calamari & the garlic steak sandwich w/onion rings. Everything was great! The calamari was seasoned nicely & not rubbery(thank god), the onion rings were crispy w/thick slices of onions in the middle(yum), the garlic steak in the sandwich was juicy & tender & the tomato & lettuce was really fresh & bright! I also like the fact that my drink(vodka tonic) tasted like vodka & not just tonic! I like to taste my alcohol lol. The only thing I thought to be off was that they charge $ 2.00 for a little ramekin of ranch! A little steep, but tasted great w/those yummy onion rings… So I got over it quick! Definitely gonna come back to try the other items on the menu :)

So I heard about this place because it was featured on the Food Network TV Show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, and imagine my surprise when I found out it was located in my own home town of Sacramento. My first reaction, blind anger. «How did I not know about this place!?!» Second reaction came about two seconds later, a mixture of indescribable relief combined with some gitty joy. Then my third reaction came after I’d finished splitting a plate of their calamari and was biting down into one of their Garlic Steak Sandwiches, and honestly, I was kinda disappointed. The calamari was decent, but kinda bland, and definitely left me underwhelmed. They are the long strip kind, and a bit on the thick side. Decent, but not the best. Then the Garlic Steak Sandwich was just a bit off. Felt like the bread was too thick for the small portion of meat, so either too much bread or too little meat, or a bit of both… then it was hard to eat… just didn’t work. Flavor was okay, but I wouldn’t get again. The last and final«insult» was their Bloody Mary, which I also shared, and really just didn’t care for. Meh. I should go back and try them again but just haven’t gotten myself to get up and do it.

Don’t be fooled by Jamie’s dive bar appearance – their garlic steak sandwich is a definite MUSTTRY!!! James is a FANTASTICCOOK!!! Make sure to go while he’s working! He made sure we were well fed and everything we ordered was delicious!!! I definitely recommend the GARLICSTEAKSANDWICH!!! It comes with TWO sandwiches filled with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles and you can choose from either a green salad, potato salad, or fries as a side. The steak was a perfect medium rare and literally fell apart in my mouth! The fries were nice and crispy as well and I was BEYOND full after I devouring my meal! We also ordered their clam chowder which was generously packed with small, bite-sized, pieces of clam, potatoes, and onions. Their large bowl is enough to feed three people and is worth a try! We also opted for their prime rib – which was HUGE! It was served medium rare and ended up being pretty tasty! It wasn’t as good as the garlic steak sandwich but, if you’re in the mood for meat, this is a definite must order! Seating is LIMITED so be sure to come early if you want to beat the brunch/dinner rush! There is an open bar but when we arrived(around 7PM) it was FULL! Jamie’s has a teeny weeny parking lot available in the front with ~5−10 spaces but, don’t fret if it’s full, there is TONS of street parking! They are kind of «hidden» if you’re driving down Broadway and are unfamiliar with the area, but, I always look for their signature green entranceway. Service was GREAT! Waitresses made sure we were well taken care of and checked up on us at least five or six times! Will definitely come back when I’m craving some more garlic steak sandwiches!!!

Prime rib is excellent, but it’s $ 32. I came in to get salmon, and they served it to me raw inside. Kind of grossed me out, and I was disappointed. It was $ 25 for that salmon. If it were advertised as «seared» salmon then I wouldn’t be so upset about it. But it was on the menu as grilled. Not sure if I’d be back, willingly. If someone offered to pay for my prime rib I’d probably show up though.

Jaime’s is the perfect place to satisfy your meat cravings(don’t worry, they have yummy salads and seafood too). The garlic steak sandwich and seasoned fries are soo good! The calamari is also really good too because it’s actually strips of calamari from a calamari steak. The only thing I don’t like about Jaime’s is that they are only opened mon-fri, so I have to go elsewhere for my weekend garlic steak sandwich cravings.

Ask about the daily specials! The first time I ate here with a group of 6 for lunch and we were on a tight timeline. That’s a mistake. You need to have time to wait for this place not because service or food is slow, but just because it’s small and popular. This time we ordered straight off the menu which is your basic straight forward menu of burgers, salads, and a steak sandwich. I love a good burger and tater salad and this place does not disappoint. Perfectly cooked, moist and delicious. My second go around was just a twosome, so we had some time and a table wasn’t an issue. This time we heard the specials, holy cow! There’s more specials than the regular menu. My friend had the smoked brisket sandwich which was succulent. Perfectly smoked without tasting like an ash tray. I had order envy to say the least. I ordered the fish and chips, which is a go to for me. While cooked perfectly, my fish was breaded and bland. I prefer my fish without tarter sauce instead with just a squeeze of lemon. Even with their secret sauce the fish was a disappointment. I’d love to try this place for dinner with and adult beverage. The atmosphere is awesome, the staff is great, and has a dedicated older local following(something I love and respect). Parking can be difficult but I’m learning that’s just par for the course in Sacramento. The lunch rush is the entire time they’re open so get there, be patient, and enjoy the ambience!

I was up in Sacramento to visit granny, a few uncles, auntie, & a cousin. Upon finishing up our visit, my cousin Kelly took us to a place called Jamie’s Broadway Grill. This place was featured in the show Diners, Drive-Inns, & Dives with Guy Fieri. My cousin mentioned to me that Jamie’s made an awesome prime rib here… and when he says this… I believe it, as a few of my cousins — Kelly, Chris, Pedro, & my uncle Buck makes a mean prime rib! Upon arriving at this joint, it was totally packed! Apparently cousin Kelly is a regular here, as the next thing you know… we were escorted to a back private room, and all the workers here knew him by name… cousin Kelly’s PIMPHAND was strong! Lol! We got our menu’s and I was all jacked up to get my prime rib. When the waitress came to take our order, we found out they had run out of prime rib! Maaaaaaaaan! I guess cousin Kelly’s pimp hand was not so strong! Lol! Well, not to fret… cousin Kelly told me to get the«Seafood Grill». What is the seafood grill you say? It’s basically a dish that had some fish(cod or sea bass, not really sure), some fresh pieces of crab meat, two huge and plump scallops, two shrimp. All of this was served in a light creamy sauce, and it was topped with some kind of fried onions & kale? The dish also came with a side of veggies, and some kind of wild rice. Ummmmmmmmmm… NOMS! My mistake… cousin Kelly’s PIMPHAND is strong! Lol! After polishing off my meal, I had to unbuckle my belt a notch! Service was great! Our waitress was friendly, and attentive. This place is only opened from Monday thru Friday. They are closed over the weekends… hummmm, I found this odd, as I would think if they were open over the weekend, they would do even more business. But of course, they do extremely well for a weekday, as I could clearly see… There is limited parking at this place with only a few parking stalls in front of the bar/restaurant. If you can’t find a parking spot in front of the building, there is also street parking near by. What a memorable meal! Nothing better than having a great meal with your ohana! The next time I’m in Sacramento… i will make my way back here again just to try the prime rib!
