The owner tried to explain each item in a thick Armenian accent, but I was actually disappointed, the food was cold and the servings were very small, he actually picked the smallest pieces of meat as he prepared my plate, the rice was also very minimal, they did not give me a generous serving? like what others have reported? I was still hungry when I left and regretted trying this place, Ive had much better food from other kebob places in the Sacramento area. I didnt see many people coming in and it was between 12 pm — 1pm. I felt like I wasted my money eating at this place, personally, I wouldnt recommend this place to anybody, I dont think I’ll ever come back here.

I always like to judge and taste for myself. My friend told me this place was way over rated And my response was that everyone’s taste is different. I decided to try it for myself. Their kabob should be called burned kabob. Very dry no taste. All these 5 stars reviews must be friends and family. Let’s give it 5 more months and the true reviews will start showing. The kabobs are as dry as a bone. I will give them one more try in next 4 or 5 months to see if they all learn how to make real Mediterranean food.

Just found this place and I love it! I had the chicken kabob, bbq chicken, bbq pork, both types of the rice dishes and salad plus a Napoleon desert. All for $ 13.00. The servings were extremely generous, I have enough left over for lunch tomorrow. I love finding little hole in the wall places as they seem to have the best food and Gyumri defiantly does. The lady who owns the place was very very nice and explained all her dishes which she and family members cook. Sadly she told me they may have to close up and move due to lack of business which I can honestly say surprises me! Please give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!

I LOVETHISFOOD!!! When we first moved to the area about 6 months ago our family ate there or got take out several times a week. We are settled in our new home and not eating out as much, but we still eat their food 3 – 4 times a month and we always get plenty for left overs :)

Where to begin? The food is AMAZING and at a great price! Don’t be fooled by the location the quality is the food is worth the trip. I ordered the bbq chicken with rice and cabbage salad. Everything was great especially the chicken, which was moist and flavorful. If your debating about trying this place, just go for it! You won’t be disappointed.

I just love the chicken kebabs and the rice pilaf. The portions are very generous, the food is so fresh tasting, and my husband is always happy when I bring this home. So glad they are fairly close to us!

Ok ppl, take it from a VERY picky eater, this place is THEBOMBDOTCOM!!! Terrible location for such an awesome place, but that is precisely why I can afford to eat there so often not to mention its so much higher quality than aria at the mall, or some lame Greek version of a kabob(Greeks don’t know kabob-only select Mid East countries can claim the best kabob) –I.e-turkey, Iran, Armenia, Lebanon and that’s about it folks. Insane freshness, everything made fresh each day’! UBERFRIENDLYFAMILYRUNRESTAURANT! Def hole in the wall, you gotta be a local or know somebody to be clued into this place. First of all, I wanted to discredit Matt C.‘s overly snobbish review. I wouldn’t be surprised if he works for a competing restaurant in the area with all the negativity and criticizing over petty details. It’s almost as though he is resentful or maybe just has a bad chip on his shoulder. In the restaurant’s defense, the pork tastes NOTHING like ham, I’ve never experienced the meat being too salty, even though the food is in warming trays it is ALWAYS fresh, I leave with a heaping amount for around $ 7.00 and it is not overpriced whatsoever lol, and the fact it is served on paper plates when you dine-in is just part of the experience! This isn’t a sit-down restaurant. It’s a fast-casual one and considering so, the food exceeds most in the same category. I’m a fan of small«hole in the wall» restaurants over corporate chains, any day. I come here primarily for two reasons: the food of course, and the customer service. The food is yummy, and better is that it’s all pretty light including the deserts, and taste is not sacrificed. I love the cheesecake! All their items are made from scratch. I’ve never had an experience where it did not taste fresh, either. I order the chicken or pork cutlets and the rice just about every time as I can seriously eat it every day. The meat is smoked and of very good quality. You get a huge amount of protein for only $ 5. If you’re a carb-junky like myself, you’ll appreciate that the rice is actually not fried and made with little oil. It’s delish! The owner is very open about what ingredients she uses and how it’s prepared. I love REAL food. The customer service is outstanding. It’s family-owned and the woman(owner) who is always there when I go in as extremely friendly, personable, and professional. She always expresses gratitude for my business. I find myself having long, in-depth conversations with her all the time, and is a big reason why I come back. I love humble people so I like supporting their restaurant, and I’m so grateful I only live two minutes away. I’ve gotten other people hooked on their food as well. My mom and friends are health-conscious and they enjoy going in there! I think my mother has become more of a regular than myself. Check this place out! I’d love for it to stay in business as it’s definitely worthy and we need more restaurants like this in the area.

Great food, great service! Our first time we were welcomed by a very nice lady that allowed us to sample the kebabs, explained the menu set up and even threw in some extras on our plate for us to try. Very reasonably priced and you only pay for what you eat. Try the noodle style rice, it’s really good.

The chicken was moist and and had a nice smokey flavor to it… a fusion of Armenian and smokey BBQ. You order a la carte which is wonderful for meat eaters. Again, the flavor is unlike anything I have tried before. It appears that he uses a wood smoker and as much as I asked, he wouldn’t reveal what was in that delicious marinade for obvious reasons.

My friends brought me here a while back and we visited again today and the food was as good as ever. The kebabs were great and the chicken thighs were cooked to perfection. Rice and Slaw rounded out the rest of the meal and was delicious and very filling. Can’t wait to go back again, will pass the word that good food, friendly service and reasonable prices are still the norm here.

I think Matt C. was a bit harsh. Well, way too harsh! Matt were your taste buds blocked by a sinus cold? Your pocket book must have a cold too because this place is very fair, even cheap on the Unilocal $ scale! Sure some of the seasonings are on the salty side, but it’s not EVEN close to fast food sodium levels. This place is delish! In this day and age of processed fast food it’s refreshing to find a place that cooks food the old-fashioned way, by hand, with the character and seasonings that are anything but bland. The best part is you can assemble the items you feel like eating and not pay a penny more than your appetite deems necessary. Like a ‘serving’ of bbq pork or chicken is $ 4.99, but that really is a huge serving of 4 generous chunks of meat. You can pick individual chunks for only $ 1.25, which is a way fair deal. It would take 3 Subway sandwiches to equal the same amount of protein! Even the seasoned rice and the Armenian salad, a full $ 1.99 serving is huge, but the guy will scoop you a half and half serving of those and it’s plenty IMHO. Free Armenian bread and Baklava samples to boot. You can have it your way here, eat light, lots of variety or you can full on pig out! Junk food affectionados stay away!

I am a simple person and like uncomplicated things. the food was great, simple presentation, no frills. Kebabs were awesome, the chicken cutlet was incredible(deep fried with sage garlic butter center) cut that open over you rice and wow! In short, just real food. I will be frequenting this place, my wife and I love it!

Based on the abnormally high rating — I tried the place and was not impressed. I’m sure Olya Kapovsky(the Russian Lady on SNL«Weekend Update») would probably disagree with this review: The«BBQ Meats» are really salty — the pork tastes like ham, the chicken was dark meat(should be breast meat, at the price they are charging). Everything is sitting in a warming tray, like at a Panda Express. This reminded me of those take-out places we saw in Europe. Food is served on paper plates with plastic forks. Prices are rather high considering the«a la carte» nature of the menu. You buy the meat, the rice, the tomato, the bread separately. Adding up to an exorbitant cost because there is no «Lunch Plate special» per se. Having been to Athens, Greece and having eaten at Armenian Kebab & Gyro restaurants there — I would rate this place like a «truck stop» or «gas station food. Considering this is in the Armenian & Russian & Ukrainian neighborhood in Citrus Heights, I expected this to be much better. What puzzled me the most: Bottles of Sriracha(Vietnamese Garlic Chili Sauce) sitting on every table. WTF? If you look carefully at all of the other reviews — nobody has any friends! That is rather suspicious. Next time, I think I’ll pass…

Very nice home-style Armenian takeout with a few tables. Had about half the items on the menu and all were flavorful and fresh. Chicken rolls were buttery with fresh dill– a favorite. Generous portions and inexpensive.

Happen to stumble onto this eatery while surfing Unilocal for some lunch suggestions. Anytime you see a rating of 5, it’s no guarantee. Since it was close to the office I thought I would give it a try. It was easy to find, plenty of parking and easy to get in and out. Just follow the Kabab«A» sign, next to the relocated Charlie’s Café. Peeked in and it was empty. So I questioned the freshness and quality of meat immediately. Walked in further and the place was clean and remodeled, I was a bit relieved at this point. Out came from the kitchen was this super cool lady who immediately greeted me with a friendly smile and started to go through her menu and explained how everything was prepared. I totally get it, owners open restaurants to make money but I can tell it was more than that with her. I genuinely felt she was more concerned with satisfying my taste buds. Ended up ordering the BBQ pork(4 pieces) rice and must have cabbage. Pork: Wow! Moist really? How? Amazing texture, right amount of saltiness and spice. Rice: its rice, but it had this great chewiness to it and not soggy. Cabbage: must have to balance out the buds… not drowned with vinegar either. Who orders dessert for lunch? This guy did, couldn’t resist cause it was made fresh there everyday. Glad I did, light, fluffy and crispy, all in one bite. Liked it more because it wasn’t too sweet. So glad this Kabab place opened up near work. Tired of all these burger joints popping up on every corner. Will be back for sure… the lady got me at «Hello».

The food here is very very good and a nice change from all of the chain fast food restaurants around here. I could eat the chicken kebabs every day if given the chance, they are THAT good. I’m going to be a downer and give it 4 stars, only because the pork was kind of dry the last time I went in there, but still very good as far as flavor goes. The brothers who I assume are the owners, are both friendly and very helpful, just a little quiet and hard to hear. They show you what each thing is, give you options and even offer sides all of which is delicious! They are going to ruin any chance of me ever going on a diet, that’s for sure.
