This place used to be my favorite spot in my teenage years! I was worried it would have lost some flair in the past 20 years but it was just as good as I remember. While the burritos do seem smaller than they used to be, the flavor was the same. The taquitos and chicken machaca burrito were always my go-tos so I gave them a whirl tonight and I was highly satisfied. The chicken is shredded white meat and doesnt contain any fatty pieces or skin fragments. The salsa has amazing flavor and my mouth was on fire but I still couldnt stop eating it! No, the food isnt authentic but it is definately a few steps up from Taco Bell and the service is good and the price is resonable. So glad this location is still open(yes, the carpets needs cleaning and the decorations could use some updating but I didnt come here for that)…glad my sons high school baseball will be forcing me to be in this area more often.

I have eaten at a few of their locations for the past twenty years. Unfortunately they closed their Elk Grove and Thunder Valley Casino locations. The restaurant is consistently clean and the service is always prompt and solid. My go to is their carne asada burrito and it is always fresh and tasty. Their nachos are excellent too. Their salsa is great too, I just wish their chips were a little better. Their food is a good value and is always made to order.

Good bang for the buck. Clean and friendly staff. Authentic food. Open great hours. They have the college market in mind and they do it well.

Probably the worst Mexican(if you call it that) restaurant(if you can call it that) I’ve ever been to. 1. What Mexican restaurant does not have avocado? «We don’t have avocado we pre-make our guacamole»…ok so you buy your guacamole. great start. the(lack of) taste of that guacamole confirmed. 2. Beans must be straight from a can as well, they tasted nothing like Mexican beans should taste like. 3. We ordered a carnitas torta. I really can’t say what kind of meat was in that torta. It was a plasticky mix of what could be beef and pork. 4. No aguas frescas, just a mix of bad soda. 5. Chips not made in house 6. Salsa not made in house 7. Bread of the torta was some panini bread not suited for a torta Basically the kind of place that is an insult to Mexican food. I’m sorry, the cashier seemed nice, but they just serve bad food.

It’s all about the flava! And it’s here. Very authentic tasting, fresh, and filling. I love the salsa cruda :)

It was good for the price. Quick and fast. Staffs are nice and friendly. I got a chicken fajitas burrito. I wish the chicken was more flavorful. Add some spices on it. It’s a bit plain but plain is good. I would come back

I have been eating here forever, like when I was back in college(the first time) a decade ago. I can’t remember ever being disappointed in the quality of food or service. The prices are very reasonable, considering all that you get. The food is excellent quality and they have a ton of choices. I dragged a co-worker here and he loved it.

Really like this place. Burritos are always good. My husband loves their Carne asada, my daughter the chicken machado and I love the crispy shredded beef tacos. There may be better places but it’s clean, good, reasonably priced, conveniently located(for me) between the gym and home the people are nice… why bother with any where else.

This place has the best breakfast burritos and the beat salsa hands down. I buy a large container every time I go there cus the small containers they give you with the bb isn’t enough. If you’re hungry and need a good Mexican place to enjoy Gordito is the place!!!

I’ve eaten here many times as it is close to my work and my home. I really enjoy the specials and will usually order them. The food always tastes fresh and delicious and I heart their salsa :-). The owner and his daughter are always pleasant and I’m glad to support this business with my $$$. They have a pretty cool little lending library in the dining room too which is a nice bonus! If I could change anything, I would change the chairs that tip over easily and get rid of the vinyl tablecloths– they always feel a little sticky to me. Those are small things compared to the overall deliciousness of the menu! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Disclaimer: I’m from the«heartland» of California burritos — if that even exist. LOL If not, well my hometown(San Diego) sure comes close to perfecting this burrito… ANYWAY, I am on a search for an amazing«knock my socks off» Ca. burrito. Let’s just say I didn’t find it at Gordito Burrito :-(The service was nice enough, but the burrito failed in comparison. I ordered the overpriced meal at $ 6.75: a drink, 15 chips & salsa, and a skinny burrito with way too much sour cream, wonderfully flavored chicken, and just the right amount of fries. All in all this place is close to work so would I come again, sure. Would I order the Ca. burrito here again, NO!

4 stars, are you guys kidding me? First, the restaurant doesn’t look like it’s been properly cleaned in years. The floors and walls are stained with dirt. The soda machine needs some serious attention and I had to force myself to not think about it to be able to take the first sip of my soda. This place is supposed to be cheap. I ordered a super burrito that didn’t look nearly as super in size as burritos I usually order from taquerias. After adding cheese, cream cheese and guacamole at 50 cents per condiment and adding a large drink I walked out paying nearly $ 10. I’m okay with that if the food tastes good but it didn’t. The burrito was watery and ver salty. So much so, that I didn’t even finish the whole thing. I would have been better off just going to taco bell instead.

How I’ve missed you! I graduated from Sac State and lives on campus for a year, so naturally, this was a go to place. Today I stopped by for the first time in a decade and this place didn’t miss a beat… In fact, the same people are still working there. The one thing they added to the menu was a selection of more specials. I got 3 street tacos, chips and a soda for $ 6.25 including tax. That is a pretty damn good deal. I got one chicken and two steak tacos. It doesn’t seem they have grilled chicken. I believe they only have the shredded stuff– but that’s ok. A decent amount of seasoning. The steal was good too. Nothing crazy. But what I love most about this place is the consistency. Just always been the se over 10 years. Why recreate the wheel. The entire strip mall has been built up– but they remain the same. Perfect– because that’s how I like it!

5-Stars for the Horchata alone! I’m so happy when I visit a Mexican food place and they sell Horchata! The food is 3-Star…the service is 4-star…location/parking/ambiance gets 3-stars. Portions-Super really does mean super, here. If you are starving, or you intentionally want to pack up half your meal to enjoy for tomorrow –get the super. Chips and Salsa-They are satisfactory. So, if you are expecting fresh and tasty chips and salsa, then you will probably be disappointed with what’s offered here. I purchased the breakfast burrito and it wasn’t really«to die for», and I probably won’t buy it again. My advice is to stick with the more traditional fare on the menu.

I have been waffling between giving this place 3 stars vs. 4 stars. Even though I would truly give this place 3.5 stars, I just can’t bring myself to round up to 4 stars in good conscience. Sorry Gordito Burrito! Maybe next time? Anyway, this evening was my first time at this restaurant. It’s 7:30pm, on Tuesday, and it’s Cinco de Mayo. My friends and I originally wanted to go to Tres Hermanas downtown, but we were totally turned off by the nearly two hour wait. One of my friends in our group lived near Gordito Burrito and insisted that we try it out as an alternative. I personally lived by La Fiesta Taqueria on Alhambra, which is a great restaurant, but I was down to try something new despite having a wheel that didn’t require re-inventing. Also, I’m not much of a burrito person, so I wasn’t excited about the prospect of going to a burrito restaurant. But whatever, the group made the decision and it was off to Gordito Burrito we go! The restaurant isn’t too hard to find. It’s in a shopping center with good lighting and near a main road. Parking was easy. I thought the surrounding neighborhood was fine and felt safe. However, my friend who recommended this place eventually commented that the shopping center could be a bit sketchy, so sketchy that after dinner, she wanted to drive another friend to her car. Again, I thought it was fine, but for those who are overly cautious might want to take note of the restaurant’s location. When I went in, the restaurant was pretty empty at the time. And the staff kindly greeted me. It was a plus! I told them I was meeting a group of friends that were on their way. It was clearly my first time there, and the staff was nice enough to also point out their larger dining room with bigger tables. I appreciated their helping me to get oriented. The restaurant itself was alright. It wasn’t the cleanest. The chairs and table tops were a bit sticky. Some of the tables hadn’t even been fully wiped off. So I was a bit turned off by this. In contrast, their bathrooms seemed pretty clean, which was nice. And although cleanliness was a bit of a turn off, I did like the arrangement of the place. The tables and chairs are a bit on the small and light end, but that comes in handy when you’re coming in with a group and need to move some tables and chairs around. The staff didn’t seem to mind that I was reorganizing some things, so this was definitely a plus if you want to get together with friends at a friendly establishment. After my friends arrived, we were ready to order. I went with the Beef Burrito Plate, which included a Colorado beef burrito, some rice, beans, lettuce, salsa, sour cream, a soft drink, as well as chips and salsa. I also made it deluxe, so they added guacamole and some other stuff inside. This all just cost me $ 8, which I thought was a pretty sweet deal for dinner. I felt that the food was alright. The flavor was there, but I was slightly turned off by how my burrito and its contents were a bit cold. I like my food to be really hot, so the lukewarm temperature gave me a bit of a sense of «ick»! I also had the peace of mind from knowing that it was probably just the sour cream or some other filling that cooled my burrito. But yeah, I don’t know, ick, sorry. Nevertheless, the flavors were good. I still finished my plate. And I felt satisfied in the end. Although my burrito wasn’t mind blowing, I will say that their chips and salsa are quite tasty. I don’t know whether it was home made or whether they got it premade from some place, but it was good. It has a really strong garlic flavor to it. So if you’re into that like I am, then this salsa is for you. Unlike a lot of places I have been to around Sac, Gordito Burrito stood out for me in a not-so-good-way by not having a salsa bar. I was really distressed by this at first because I was totally hooked on their salsa. Much to my relief, however, if you want more chips and salsa… you can just go up the counter and ask them to refill it for you. And they will and they are super nice about it! That’s good to know, yeah? So all in all, my first experience here was good. Would I come here again? Definitely. And I hope to give a higher rating next time too! Would I recommend this place? Sure! The friendly service at this place leaves me rooting for it! Are there other places around Sac that might be better? Sadly, yes. But this place is worth trying out once even I f you tend to be a creature of habit and only go out to the same place. Then you can boast to your buddies that you just ate at the«home of the 1 lb burrito,» according to their neon lights.

I’m not impressed. I feel bad saying that because the place is very clean and the staff is super friendly but the food is just not on that level. My boyfriend and I came in looking for a big breakfast burrito that we could share and given the name«fat burrito» we thought there was no better place. So we ordered 2 just to be safe and I’m glad we did. The flavorless burritos that we got were not good at all. I could have made a better burrito at home, no doubt about it. They messed up our order twice, not a huge deal but as we were sitting and eating I saw them mess up at least two more orders. People had to get up, walk back and tell them it wasn’t right, the place wasn’t busy so there was really no excuse for this. The quality is completely lacking here when it comes to the taste of the food. As I mentioned, the staff is nice but I came for a fat burrito and I didn’t get that I always came here for tasty food and I didn’t get that either. I’m very disappointed.

This place is pretty much so-so. It’s edible but nowhere near good Mexican food. We went here the other day on our way back from the Arden area. I ordered a chile verde burrito and the significant other ordered a bean, rice and cheese burrito. The service was super quick, but they gave us the wrong burrito — a Chile colorado. They gave us a new burrito, a chile verde and let us have the extra burrito. However, the burrito I got was super dry and had absolutely no green chile of any kind. It was just chunks of dry pork. The chips and salsa were OK, but nothing great either. I don’t think I’ll be coming back!
