Came to Fil-Am for lunch and ordered the beefsteak, chicken curry, and pancit. The portions were huge, but the food was served a bit cold. The beefsteak has a unique tangy vinegar taste, and was my favorite amongst the 3 items I got. The curry chicken was nothing special, and the pancit was a bit bland for my tastes. The water cup they do give you is quite small, and you have to walk towards the back of the restaurant to get water from the water dispenser. Probably not that big of an issue for most, but you probably need 2 – 3 refills to finish the portions you have in the box. Will probably come back for a second round.

Great Filipino food in Natomas! Tiny place but we love the adobo, great classic pancit, and yummy baked goods!

Great/inexpensive food. Friendly staff. I’ll be coming here again. The inside isn’t the best looking as far as decoration goes but the food more than makes up for it. They even have a little store on the side if you want to attempt the food yourself. Definitely recommend.

Good quick food. Convenient parking right up front. My four year old and I shared a combo plate of chicken, mixed vegetable(eggplant, bitter melon, green beans), and rice. I’m not Filipino but found the flavours super tasty and kid approved. As a bonus they have lots of sweets at the front that are vegan and dairy free with the ingredients listed on each item. I will be back!

Food is okay… TOOSALTY. It is SALTYANDGREASY. But some dishes are good I guess. I just wish they wouldnt make it soooo salty. Less sodium pleassseee! It feels so unhealthy to eat the food. I am only writing this review so hopefully the owner sees it and make changes to how salty the foods are. They’re nice people and I hate give them negative feedback. If they weren’t nice this review would be a 1 star instead of 3.

I absolutely love the menudo here so delicious every single time. Great service and choices. I always prefer closing a small family run business over a major chains. I will keep coming back here to me and time again.

Sorry for the low star count. I’ve been wanting to try this place for some time now. We came at 6:30. I thought that would be a good time for dinner as they close at 8. But to my surprise the«steam trays» were pretty empty. There was a soup(pork) and a vegetable dish. Plus pancet. The pancet was good but obviously had been sitting for a while.(there were only two other people eating there). Our dishes were tasty but alas not much to choose from. We were told that we really should come at lunch time for more choices. I get that but if you’re going to be open for dinner hour you should have some food choices instead of an empty steam table. Some others came in after us and I suppose were even more disappointed because we just about cleaned them out! We ordered lumpia and it was good. Smaller in diameter than I’ve had. But ok. I will give them another try and I guess it will have to be at lunch time.

Great food at a convenient location when driving to south of Sac is impossible. Another no-frills, momma pops joint that impresses in service and food. They have a variety of meat and no-meat dishes that hits-the-dang-spot in a comforting home-cooked kinda way. I love this place, and so does my dad. This is his go-to spot when he visits from the east coast. The portion is a bit small for the price point. The water cups are just oversized shot glasses that I find myself refilling more than a few times during my meal.

Food here taste good but doesnt look appealing… but reading everyones Unilocal they say the portion size is big? Whenever i went i would get the combo & the lady only gives me one scoop of whatever i picked and not enough rice or pancit… I really want to give more stars but I dont think its fair if Im paying the same amount as everyones & their pictures show they get much more… Im never rude and always order more as I stay… Service is so-so…The husbands always happy and nice. The wife seems nice but was rushing me the last time & there wasnt a rush or a line… So I may give Fil-Am another try just to see how my experience is the next time…

Not easy to find if you do not know where it is located. It’s in a strip mall on Gateway Park Blvd and Del Paso. Look for the Kabob place and the gym, Fil Am is on the same strip mall. Staff is extremely friendly and they will explain all of the various foods they offer. They are open Tuesday thru Sunday closed on Mondays. They open at 9:00 for breakfast. If you are in a hurry you can call in your order. If you chose to eat in the dining area is very sunny and pleasant they also have a large screen TV. I will come again when I am in the area. Their phone number is 9164192606

Filam is an excellent choice when you have a craving for Filipino food. I had the pancit, chicken adobo, pork menudo, a beef dish(I forgot the name) and turon, all of which were delicious. The owner is super friendly and there is a nice sitting area. I will be coming back for some lumpia!

Not so good. Sweet and savory beef caldereta, to which it shouldn’t be sweet. Pork menudo with extra fatty cuts of pork and that too was strangely sweet. Do they add sugar to every dish? Service ok, but ambience and food recipes need a makeover!

Tried this place on a total whim and was pleasantly surprised. At first, I almost wanted to walk out because of the strong fish sauce smell that overwhelms you when you enter, but after I got used to it(or, more like, got over it), I was able to eat my pancit, chicken adobo, and longanisa, which were all really great! The generous portion of pancit tasted fresh(even though it looked like it had been sitting a while), the adobo was well flavored, and the sweet longanisa was well-spiced and not overly oily. Also, the person at the cash register was very helpful and explained all of the items in fairly good detail. I think it would’ve helped to have had labels on the food(so she wouldn’t have had to explain everything), and the ambiance left a lot to be desired(pretty plain walls and a TV tuned to the Filipino cable channel), but I was glad to have tried it.

This has become a regular lunch spot for me. Not having much Filipino food before in my life(unless you count my obsession with Jolibee), I think this place is pretty good. Too bad it is so far from Folsom or I could go more often and not just for lunch. The portions here are huge so make sure you’re hungry. I usually get the two item with pancit. I love their sisig so I’ve always got to get that. I’ve tried almost everything else but have been falling back to the besteak lately. They’ve got this fried banana thing for desert, but usually it is on to Starbread just down the street.

I’m pretty sure anyone with Filipino lineage will say this same statement, «The food here is great, but my mom’s chicken adobo is WAY better.» I think the issue with any Filipino comfort food restaurant, is that there are so many variations of pancit, lumpia and adobo that when you try one at a restaurant it will never truly be the version you are accustomed too. I really wanted to love this place, because there is such a short supply of Filipino food establishments in Sacramento. But something just feel short… I tried the pancit and lechon, and wasn’t impressed. I also ate here with my mom, who is from the Philippines and she said that she wouldn’t particularly want to come back here either. On the plus side, the prices are right and you get A TON of food. So I guess if portion size is of great importance to you, than you won’t be disappointed.

Typical take out filipino food. The pricing is better than most, but the food is really just blehh. I know filipino food is normally oily, but downing the food here tasted like I was drinking from the grease at the bottom of the dish. Ordered their lechon kawali, which was 99% fat and no meat, chicken adobo, which had a heavy layer of oil on top, and bangus, which had become soggy and unappetizing. They didn’t have sisig, much to my dismay. Maybe if you go here earlier in the day, they’ll have more of a selection and it won’t taste as greasy.
