What a happy accident!!! My friend and I were searching for something new and different from our routine dining haunts and we needed something relatively close to the B street Theatre… How fortunate are we to have stumbled quite happily into East SMF! The food was amazing… fresh and inspired! The service was attentive without being obnoxious. The ambiance… everything you’d want in both a neighborhood and destination restaurant! we can’t wait to go back!

This place is great. Rich in flavor and original. I would rank the cuisine up there with Ella’s, The Grange, and The Press.

This little place is a jewel! Delicious food– will do vegetarian or vegan if requested– small, sweet, and quiet. Music on Thursday nights is superb. I will be going back– with friends!

What an amazing, waitress. The food was fresh, the chicken roasted perfectly, and the chef was kind about all the substitutions.

I’ll give a more detailed review in the future as I have only eaten here once and they are new, so they clearly have some kinks to work out, but the salad and sandwich I had for lunch was fantastic! If they can keep up this quality and attract enough of a clientele, they will be a great fit in the neighborhood. I’ll certainly be back. One comment. The name is AWFUL. It makes no sense. Most people don’t know our airport code is SMF, nobody refers to Sacramento as SMF(like many refer to Portland as PDX) nobody is going to remember what the name is if they try and look it up and people are going to think it is at the airport. If you’re trying to make it sound local, why is the name Sacramento or Sac not in your name!!! TERRIBLE. Simply calling it East-something doesn’t make me think it is in East Sac, it makes me think it is EASTERN, like an Asian restaurant. You’re new… change it ASAP. A name can make or break a new restaurant and you’re shooting yourself in the foot by having an awkward, meaningless name. It doesn’t help and will confuse people.

This place is truly«farm-to-fork». The menu is constantly changing based on what is seasonal and fresh. I would bet that if you asked the owner, she could tell you exactly what farm(or ocean) every ingredient on your plate came from. Everything is local and organic. But more importantly, it is delicious. The menu is always creative and interesting; you will never be disappointed. I’m not joking when I say once when I was here I saw someone stand up and literally applaud the chef. And although this place has lots of vegetarian and vegan options, there is also meat. The meat choices again vary with the menu, but they have had the full range of proteins on the menu at one point or another. The desserts are also to die for. The head chef is one of the owners, and he and his wife are two of the nicest people you will ever meet.(For those of you who remember Monticello in Davis, this is the same couple.) When you walk in you’re greeted with a big smile, by name if you’ve come in a few times, and if you’re really a regular, a hug. Rhonda makes everyone who comes in feel like you’re a special guest and they are so happy for you to be there. If you’re looking for a true Sacramento gem that you will want to come back to again and again, then this place is for you.

I had been waiting this place to open ever since I saw the sign out front. I couldn’t wait to try it. I went with a friend back in February and it did not disappoint. They ran out of there beef dish(that’s what you get when you eat fresh, local, organic, farm-to-fork.) Anyway, that wasn’t a huge deal, the owner was very sweet and apologetic and gave us a free dessert. Everything was excellent. I will definitely return.

My brother and I met Rhonda and her husband back in October when we were visiting an establishment near their restaurant. They were so nice and told us all about their concept for their new restaurant even let us in and showed us some of the work they were doing to the place. Fast forward to February and we went back to try their food, we pretty much got there right as they were opening. We tried a few items and everything was tasty, I really liked their potato flatbread and although I usually forego dessert it should was calling my name.

This is a very unassuming little restaurant in a small mall of shops but we always try new places featuring organic food and supporting farm to fork. We were blown away by the flavors. The minestrone for example has lentils and is a thick soup, amazing flavors. The bread was warm, my entrée of pasta with mushrooms and olive oil was terrific! The staff is very welcoming and we were able to overhear the staff in the kitchen who all treated each other respectfully and supportive of each other which in the end results in a positive customer experience. Give it a try! You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful food: local, organic, and beautifully prepared. A great addition to the Sac restaurant scene. Thanks to Tony and Rhonda for bringing their passion to this side of the Causeway.

We ordered the beet salad, flatbread of the day, short ribs, and crêpe dessert. All were so delicious, well made, and were beautifully presented. Very nice dining space and the owners were so kind. Excellent jazz as well. Will be back for brunch!

Great new place with super friendly staff and good food. We had the beet salad and the Arctic char and the duck. All were delicious. The skin on the duck was crispy and yummy. The hash with the Char was really great with a nice light sauce. We will be back.

It was a dark and stormy night when I went to try this new restaurant, I was cold, hungry and wanted a hot bowl of soup. As a vegetarian, this can be difficult to find. Not only did I find that hot bowl of soup, it was organic, completely vegetarian and extremely satisfying. I paired this with their Market Salad, which was amazing and added a loaf of their bread. I left completely contented and will be back for further soup and other items on their menu. What I appreciate is that they offer entrees for my non-vegetarian friends as well. The owners, Rhonda and Tony are friendly and see to it that your meal is completely what you want. Hard to find that kind of service and commitment in larger, chain type restaurants.

has potential, but they need to work out the bugs! Four of us went on a Saturday night. As we began to ponder our menu choices, it was apparent that they didn’t have most of the items offered on the menu — they said because it was the end of the week and that we should consider coming on a weeknight to get access to all the options. An hour after placing our order, we were told the delay was because two of us ordered the root vegetable hash with egg and they only had one egg. The waitress flubbed our order and didn’t bring one of our party their main dish at all — she got only a salad and had to ask for bread to make it a «meal.» Because of the long wait time, we ended up buying a second bottle of wine(which otherwise would not have been necessary). When the bill was presented, there was no accommodation for the series of errors until we asked. They finally took off the salad and bread. It was still $ 75/couple which I think is pricey for the fact that three of us ate vegetarian. The food, once we got served was delicious, but the service was abominable.

Don’t let the Unilocal!description of «Vegan, American(New), Vegetarian» scare you off — this restaurant rocks it with a small but innovative menu focused on fresh, local, organic foods. We’ve been trying the slew of restaurants that have filled this space over the years. This is, by far, the best in food quality presentation, and service(and that includes Formoli’s). The only drawback is that it’s pricey($ 100 for the 2 of us w/wine, dessert + tip), but in this case, you get what you pay for. High marks for the Arctic Chair & Duck entrees we ordered. And the lavender /meyer lemon crème brûlée was as perfect as you can get. Everything plated well. Service was straight-forward and polite. We could have used some bread(the focaccia on the menu was $ 12!) but otherwise all else was near-perfect. We were only 1 of 2 tables occupied(Wednesday night) so I hope it succeeds!

Wow! Organic, GMO-free, fabulously — changing menu, a farm-to-table lover’s dream! Wait! This is in Sacramento! A delicious choice, if you’re vegan, vegetarian, or meat– eater… unbelievably delicious wine offerings, too. Love the friendly vibe, can’t wait to visit again!

We went in on a Saturday evening for dinner and were welcomed by friendly owner and wait staff. This space has a refreshing, contemporary vibe, relaxed and hospitable. I had the short ribs with amazing creamy mashed potatoes and silky gravy with fresh organic baby rainbow carrots. Heaven on a winter night! My husband enjoyed the buckwheat crepes stuffed with mushrooms-totally hooked! The ingredients are locally sourced and fresh; vegan &GF symbols on the menu make it easy to make choices. We overheard them talking about menu candidates for Baconfest week, and let me say they were alluring! Can’t wait!

Enjoyed walking into the soft opening and meeting owners and staff who were friendly, honest about the meaning of «soft opening», and passionate about the food! The menu has a feel of its own, it offers a variety of options for meat eaters, vegans and vegetarians, as well as those seeking gluten free options. We ordered a variety of dishes, all were very good, some could have used minor improvements which we chalk up to SOFT Opening. Most were simply excellent! This is in the location of the former Italian Stallion Grill, and prior to that Formolis got it’s start here – this is much more in line with the quality and comforts of Formolis than the stallion. We are excited to see this new farm to fork addition to the neighborhood!
