This place is closed. Probably should update the info. Was a good spot when it was open. can’t remember what they are putting in there now.

Not sure how this place has managed to stay in business. First off, they close at 7PM, which is ridiculous given they serve dinner type items. My mom and I unknowingly came in there shortly before closing time once to have dinner, naturally assuming they would be open at dinner time hours. We went up to the counter right at 7 to order some smoothies for dessert and were told no because they had closed. We couldn’t see why she couldn’t have still made our smoothies given they had only closed a second ago. And the food is just okay, nothing spectacular.

I will include pictures, but they look bigger in the photos than they actually are. These were pigeon wings, not chicken wings! I cannot believe how tiny they were! And I paid six dollars for that! What a ripoff!

This used to be one of my favorite treats now and again. The last two times I have came here though, they messed up our orders. Today, I had ordered the French burger(meat patty, cheese, and sour dough bread. Comes with fries). The fries were pretty much burnt, and the bread they put on there wasn’t sour dough, not did it seem very fresh. My father had ordered the djs burger and asked for only ketchup and mustard, as having an allergy to mayo and onions. His meat was over cooked, with the outer parts being unedible, but he couldn’t even eat it due to, I’m sure you can guess, onions and mayo. Don’t think we will be returning.

This place is great. Call in the order ahead of time it takes anywhere from 15 to 20 min to get ur food. Usually only one person is working too. Reasonably priced and great tasting food

The burger was fine but the bun fell apart. There was a foreign and bad taste to the ice and drinks. Not very pleasant and would not want any refills. The ice cream was crystallized and bad tasting. I’m sorry I ordered ice cream. Service was friendly but a bit slow. Should look into reasons why the water and ice was so bad. Maybe toast the buns? With some changes this could be a very good place.

My pops and I stopped by here for lunch. Service was good and the lady at the counter was very nice. Food wasn’t bad nor great for the price, but was good. Everything is fresh and clean. Probably the best burgers in that area though.

This place is awesome! I work close to this place and eat here frequently. Its about the same price as a decent fast food meal and the sandwiches, burgers, and salads are huge. I have tried most the items on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. The people in here are very nice and courteous. They talk to you as they are making your food to get it just how you want it. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a good sandwich or burger as a fast food price. My favorite items are the Club Sandwich and Club Burger.

Clean, great service, fresh food and a good value… and not a chain. If you want to eat healthy in a fast food type of place, there are many good options here too. I have had good customer service here consistently over many visits.

This place was fine. Not good, but not bad either. The food was about average. The prices were too high. The service was just ‘meh’. Basically, what everyone else said. I’m not sure why they allow fast food reviews on Unilocal. It never goes well. It’s like buying a chocolate bar at Mike’s Liquor and Wine corner store, then going to the Ghirardelli store in Fisherman’s Wharf and comparing the two experiences. Not a fair comparison.

Man… $ 11 for a burger, fries and a soda… Place was very clean as others have pointed out, but the food was just not good. My Monterey Burger was very very dry and the mushrooms had zero taste… And that’s all you got too along with the cheese… No produce… The fries were so hard… my fork would hardly go into them. Will not be back! Maybe this is why no one else was in there at noon on a Saturday.

Not that impressed. $ 7.29 for a deli sandwich with about $.75 worth of turkey. $ 35 bucks total for 4 sandwiches and 4 drinks. Waited about 20 minutes to be served– mind you there was only one other customer who came in after us. After being served– without an apology for the wait, the server immediately went to the gentleman who came in after us, apologized for the wait and offers him a free smoothie for the inconvenience. In my opinion, not very good customer service. I won’t return here(sitting in the store writing this) by choice.

Three stars is not a bad review. I am just not one of the guys to give 5 and 1 depending on like and hate. I enjoyed this place, and will try it again. I have seen this place since changing over from a Togo’s location, which was dark and uninviting. I usually never had time to try it out, but after seeing it on groupon, I purchased the deal and decided to give it a whirl. I used the groupon immediately since I have not noticed too many cars in the parking lot, I did not want it to go out of business and lose my money, like I have on other deals. I walked in and the gentleman was very friendly. I ordered the Bacon & Bleu Burger, and the Club Burger. He was very consistent about trying to have me change the cheese on the former, but I told him I like bleu cheese. The groupon also included two fries. While waiting for my burgers, I snapped a few pictures, which have since been uploaded to this location. I paid attention to him and the girl who actually ended her lunch early to help. One thing I did notice was a few small pieces of trash on a couple tables, consistent with their reviews. It was no big deal. Like I said, one of them had been on lunch and the other was manning the counter. I took the burgers to go, which is a test in itself, but seeing that they do have a delivery service with«Food2Go,» I figured it should be fine. I first took a bite of the Club Burger. Amazing actually. Really flavorful, and fresh. There was supposed to be a toasted wheat bun on it, but they made it with a bun, and I am glad they did. I liked it. I then tried the Bacon & Bleu. I can see why he tried to persuade me from the bleu cheese. It should have been called the Bleu w/Bacon. I had a big handful of bleu cheese, but it was just too overwhelming with the under balance of a single strip of bacon. I then had the fries which were well seasoned, hot, and crispy. A great balance. I am curious about the other«Signature Burgers» they have listed, so I will come back and try them. I can’t imagine ordering a plain burger here though, so I would avoid it if that is what you are aiming for. Overall, a great new place and better than the Togo’s that used to be here.

I arrived at 2:20pm on a Tuesday. It’s not prime lunch time so I expected a skeleton staff. Just two employees, one in the kitchen and one at the counter. I ordered a burger at a price that makes me cringe at a fast-food establishment. Girl at the counter informed me the included wheat bun doesn’t have a lot of fans, and offered a substitute bun. I opted to stick with wheat. I appreciated the heads up. Overall, the place was clean and shiny, but of the 15 tables here, two had the remnants of someone else’s lunch. The building’s devoid of customers, there’s no excuse for dirty tables. The food arrived in under five minutes, and was fresh and tasty. Crisp produce and fresh beef. The bun, however, was as advertised. Clearly store bought, mass produced bread. At $ 9(with tax) for a burger, I’d like to see them do better. Overall, it’s a fine spot for lunch, but they need to improve the consistency of ingredients to fetch these prices. The price is also just a little to high to become a go-to lunch spot. If they could get prices down a couple of dollars, this would be an easy place to become a regular.

Came in here with a Groupon and tried out the new local sandwich shop that I saw take over the Togos that once was here. I was pleasantly surprised with the décor and the way they updated the once dreary space. The choices were plentiful and I really wasn’t expecting that many choices. I was planning on a burger, but then saw the sandwiches and ended up getting the club sandwich. OMG it was fabulous and HUGE! I had to take ½ home for dinner. So warning: if you are with someone just share this and get some fries or something. Hubby had the burger which looked great. I will for sure be back. They had smoothies too and even have a happy hour for them from 2 – 4 I think ½ price. I was WAY too full for that. They have garlic fries and cheesy fries and just a lot of stuff on that menu that will take some time to try. But the Club sandwich is by far the best I’ve had. I wish I would have gotten the gals name but if you go and there is a friendly girl at the front with dark hair… she makes the best sandwich!

I had driven past the restaurant before they had opened several times and wanted to check them out. I happen to pass by once they had opened and decided to give them a go. The restaurant was very clean as would be expected for a place that had just opened. It was around lunch time and a few people had trickled in. They have a pretty varied menu consisting of burgers, sandwiches, and salads. They also have shakes and if memory serves other desert selections. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad. One thing that I hate when I order a Caesar salad is when there are a lot of ribs in the salad. You know what I’m talking about the thick bitter center ribs of the romaine leaves, after all if I want ribs I’ll order them. OK, off soapbox. I am happy to report that there were not many in the salad. The lettuce was tossed in the dressing, however I did not know this at the time as I had ordered it to go, and I asked for extra dressing which they gladly provided. They had a good amount of Parmesan cheese in the salad, although I never can have enough parm. One thing that was odd to me is that it seemed like there was quite a bit of moisture in the salad that was a little distracting. It seems as if they had not spun or dried the lettuce once they had washed and prepped it. A ten dollar salad spinner would remedy this. The dressing appeared to be canned and not fresh, which is fine by me with a quick service salad from this kind of establishment. It was my favorite, a creamy Caesar. One thing to note is that the moisture mentioned earlier may have come from not mixing the dressing prior to putting it on the salad. As we all know moisture can build in condiments and stirring it or shaking the bottle or jar can remedy this. Now I come to the chicken. This is where the salad was the most lacking. It was a grilled chicken breast that had been prepped earlier as it was chilled. I am fine with cold chicken on a Caesar. There are problems that can arise with cold chicken. One, the chicken can dry out from being stored in the cooler. Two, because it is dried out the chicken can become rubbery. Three, as a result of the earlier two issue the chicken becomes pretty tasteless. The chicken was also not seasoned very well either. Recommendations: As I stated earlier a salad spinner and mixing the dressing can take care of the excess moisture on the salad. The chicken needs quite a bit of work. I would recommend either cooking the chicken to order, or par cooking it and finishing once ordered. If having chilled chicken is the way to go, maybe doing a Jerk marinade. Jerk chicken doesn’t mean overly spice and would be an interesting addition to their salad menu which has an oriental salad selection. A Jerk Chicken Caesar salad sounds like a cool idea. The marinade would add some moisture and flavor to the chicken. Overall I would have given them 3 stars, but there was not just an OK selection and it was in between Meh and A-OK. I am willing to give them another try for one of their sandwiches or a burger. I did not have any problems with service as everyone was friendly and courteous. Hopefully they will see this and fix some of the issues with the salad.

My family and I went there on 08÷10÷12 around 6:00pm, and we will never go again. The first problem was the service at the front counter. The girl who was taking our order was telling us what to order, instead of allowing us to figure it out for ourselves. For example, my wife and I were discussing what kids meal to get our daughter. The counter person kept interrupting us saying«she wants a grilled cheese sandwich» or «you should get her the grilled cheese». Then, when we made our order, she messed up every one. We had to correct her twice for every item, no joke. Then, when we went into the dining area, we were limited on where to sit due to the mess on most of the tables. The soda area was dirty as well. They were also out of ketchup in the dispenser. Considering we were their only customers in there at the time, and they had crew people leaning on the grill behind the counter, we found this to be unacceptable. They did get slightly busy after we made our order, but again prior to us they were an empty restaurant. Also, in the dining area, there were several TV’s tuned to sports channels. One of which was showing a program that was demonstrating that someone with a gun can defend himself better than someone with a knife. I asked the hostess if perhaps they could change the channel to the 49ers game, or perhaps another channel, because I really didn’t need my daughter to watch a guy getting shot over and over again while trying to eat. The response I got was«sorry no, my manager isn’t here, and I don’t know how to change the channel». Not a major deal, but still got under my skin a little. Once we got our food, we faced several issues right off the bat. My wife had ordered garlic fries, and my daughter and I had regular fries included with our meals. My daughter did not get her fries. When I inquired about them, the hostess who brought us our food(who was the same that took our order) was shocked to discover that fries were included in the kids meal. My wife’s garlic fries were cold and stale. My wife brought the fries to the counter and asked for a fresh order… more on that in a moment. The burger I ordered was raw in the center, and charred on the outside. There was actually a piece of grill char on my meat that I chewed into. Nothing like grill gristle to wet the appetite. The fact that it was cooked the way it was made me feel the cook rushed it by pressing down on the patty with a spatula while on the grill. When the outside looked done, he considered it done. Either that, or the meat was frozen, and not fresh like they implied. Regardless, no proper temperature was taken on the finished product. When my wife’s «fresh» order of garlic fries were brought out to her, it was almost instantly that we noticed a problem. While the fries on the top were cooked, the fries on the bottom of the basket were still frozen. Not under cooked, frozen. We called the hostess back to our table and I asked her if she sees a problem with the fries. I proceeded to hand her one of the frozen fries. She made a silly face like«yikes», but then just walked away without trying to fix the problem. About five minutes later, she came back to our table with little business cards that she tossed on our table saying«here, these are good for free fries on your next visit». I told her that we did not intend on coming back, her response was«I don’t care» and walked away. Looking at the cards before we left, they were for free fries with a purchase, not simply«free fries». As we were leaving, I noticed the two girls employees leaning up against the grill, giggling to each other. It was obvious they were talking and laughing about our disgust in the service and product we received. One of the girls then said, with a chuckle still in her voice, «hope to see you soon». Nothing like ending the experience on sarcasm from the crew, that made the entire dining experience horrible. DJ’s Grill & Deli had poor service, and a horrible product. I will not recommend this place to anyone, and will discourage anyone who asks me about it to ever go there. You can get a better burger, and service, from either the McDonald’s or Carl’s Jr less than a block away from this establishment. Plus you will save a few bucks too, as this place was VERY expensive. They are charging premium prices, and not even delivering entry level quality.
