These stars are for our incredible server. I have been to a lot of Denny’s but this by far was probably the best experience I have ever had and we owe it all to our server Sheila. She was absolutely amazing. Extremely attentive, never rushed us, and friendly the entire time we were there, and not just with us but all the tables I saw her with. She made sure we were happy and always had everything we needed. She even gave us refills to go! If I ever have a Denny’s craving I am hands down going back to this location and hoping to see her friendly face again. Thank you for a good experience Sheila!

I give this dennys 5 stars because our waitress Stacy was great, and although my food took forever, she offered 15% off for the trouble. The manager(female, i dont know her name) was in the kitchen cooking along with another employee and even though it was super busy they remained in a great mood! We were seated near the kitchen, and seen how well they all came together as a team!

Did the job. Good service and food. Kinda empty. Wish they weren’t located next to the highway, but hey it’s Cali, everyone drives right?

I’m very disappointed with out service tonight. Most of the time, this Denny’s is decent. Not great, but okay. Tonight, I was astounded at how we were disregarded. We walked in around 9:30 and waited about 2 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. There was a few servers walking around, but one man in the area we were in. He made eye contact with us several times and ignored us completely. He finally said he’d find us a table in a few minutes. I went to the bathroom and came back a few minutes to find my fiancé still standing up front! I asked him why he wasn’t at a table and he said the man hadn’t come back over. Another couple came in from behind us and he immediately popped out of the back and asked them how many were in their party and then went to clean off a table for them. Um, are you blind/deaf? We have been waiting! Another table gets up to pay their check and he checks them out before seating us. We were there for 10 minutes and there were at least 20 tables open. We walked out and will not be returning. Go to the Howe Ave Denny’s. Much better service, cleaner, and the wait staff isn’t rude AF.

I have been a happy Denny’s customer for 15 years. I’ve attended a wide variety of locations, all of which I have been extremely satisfied with. However, my visit at this location tonight offered the most disappointing display of customer service and cooking. Myself, my husband and our 3 young kids decided to go to Denny’s as a treat for the Monday holiday. We chose to this location b/c it was closest to our house. After we entered, it took a good 5 minutes for us to even be acknowledged, since there was no employee in sight except for in the kitchen. We were eventually seated and I was pleased to see the kid friendly menus. Our waitress was nice and was patient with my kids taking their orders. As we waited for our food, my husband forgot to add something extra to his order. It took a while to flag down our waitress b/c, again she was nowhere in sight. It was not a packed with customers so I can’t imagine she was actually«busy» elsewhere. We found our waitress, added the extra side item, and continued to wait for our food. Throughout the entire visit, we witnessed multiple customers attempting to find their server as well. They walked back to the kitchen area trying to grab the attention of SOMEONE b/c there was no one to be seen. Everything went down hill from there. We were seated right next to the kitchen where you have a clear view of the food coming out to be served. A little while later we hear the cook ring the bell that lets the waitress know the food is ready. We saw our order sitting on the back counter ready for the waitress and it sat there for over 4 minutes. When the food made it to our table, I was concerned it might be cold, so the first thing I did was take a bite of the sausage. It was cold, dry, tasteless, and clearly overcooked. Also, the waitress forgot a few of my husband’s items and double backed a few times to get him everything. He didn’t receive his side order until he was completely done eating his meal. Thankfully, my kids loved their food and had no complaints. MY food, however, was quite literally the worst Denny’s meal I have ever tasted. The bacon was thinly sliced and over crispy. My french toast was cold, dry, and the edges of the bread seemed stale. Also, my sausage order was just gross. It tasted like turkey sausage with no flavor and no juice whatsoever. But when my husband received his side order of sausage, it looked like it came from a completely different cook. It still had no flavor and tasted like turkey but at least it was hot and juicy. As my family was finishing our meal, my husband and I both agreed that coming here was a mistake. He told me not to tip the waitress. I gave her a small tip anyway and found an online coupon to discount our meal. Because God forbid I pay full price for this garbage. I am happy to say that we will never be coming to this location again.

This is the most dirty restaurant I have ever been in. You can only imagine how dirty the kitchen is. Went back 2 times to make sure it wasn’t just a bad day, nope it is.

My first impression of this place was almost ruined by the loud and seemingly dysfunctional conversations between the wait staff and cooks, which take place near the entrance and very close to the dining area where there is virtually no privacy for them.(Yes, that means no sex in the kitchen, but that’s not my point!) One should think they would be more subtle about what they say so as to avoid potential bad impressions like I had. It took me awhile to realize they weren’t actually fighting or arguing; it was just on par to how to some frenemies behave with each other. By the time my food had arrived, they managed to redeem themselves. The food was delicious, but what impressed me after I realized their conversations were not as bad as it seemed. The cook first noticed I had no salsa with my food, and had another waitress bring it to straight to my table. My waitress then proved how attentive while she was on her own break by getting up and asking me whether I needed anything when I was, in fact, looking for a napkin. That was impressive. Small details like that really add up sometimes, and made me think about my days of working in a restaurant. My only recommendation? Don’t walk here if it means crossing over the 50 freeway. Drivers here apparently have a problem yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalks.

Always a great spot on late nights but had a bad impression with one of the servers, she told me to leave if I was done eating cause I’m taking space. Not very professional

It was chaos… 3 different people organizing the line to wait and one girl kept taking the list everywhere with her(leaving the other two to guess who came in first). Saw a lot of people leaving, and that included us. Also spelled my name«Jhon», which seems insane to me(but had no effect on this review).

This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Denny’s. There is trash and food all over the floor; it’s unappetizing. I’ve been here over an hour waiting for my order to be taken. It’s not like it’s even that busy. Our waitress hasn’t even come to check on us. Avoid this Denny’s!!!

The worst service I have ever received from any Denny’s location. I waited 15 minutes before anyone took my DRINK order, not my food but drink. When I finally did get around to ordering it took them another 45 minutes to bring the food out. Hard to see what the hold up was there was only 3 other customers in the restaurant.

I have always had a close fondness for this Denny’s location because I used to go here frequently when I lived nearby and also attended CSUS. It was many years ago, but I recall good times along with eating good food. Then, after moving away from the neighborhood, this place was just a distant memory, until my dad treated me and my sister for breakfast at this Denny’s. Come to find out, he is a regular customer and recognized by many of the staff members. The menu offers a lot of great selections to choose from traditional favorites to some tasty looking creations. My sister and I were impressed that they also have«fit» style breakfasts for the fat and calorie conscious, gluten free items, egg white options, fresh fruit sides and even grits! I chose the Senior Fit Fare Loaded Veggie Omelette that definitely came loaded! An egg white omelette with spinach, mushrooms, sautéed zucchini and squash, diced tomatoes and Swiss cheese. Served with seasonal fruit and an English muffin. I got a lot of delicious food for an affordable senior price! My sister and dad enjoyed their breakfasts too! Lately, I have been visiting my parents on a more regular basis to help them out around the house on my Sundays off. It’s hard to see them getting older and unable to do the things they used to do. I’m finding that going out to breakfast on Sunday mornings is a family tradition I look forward to. We have gone to several different restaurants nearby, but I’m excited to say that going to this Denny’s has been added to our favorite places to go list. Since my dad is a frequent patron, it was so nice to see him receive quick, friendly, and attentive table service. The perks of being a cute elderly man…

Solid three star dining experience. Pros: Easy on/off freeway access, predictable menu, ample parking, pleasant customer service. Cons: The prices are fairly consistent with other breakfast restaurants, this location is a tad bit seedy, and when it’s crowded you can expect a long wait and limited seating options.

Food took forever and quite a few mistakes with orders. Waitress was very nice but was dealing with a lot of flak in the kitchen. The whole vibe amongst the staff was very tense.

They just lost a regular customer :( So I never had a problem with a Denny’s for the time I’ve patroned them, and I’ve been coming to this particular one by myself with no problem for a week after I moved to Sacramento. Well tonight was different, and I believe they could’ve handled it better. One of my usual go-tos is the slow cooked pot roast, which has a good amount of meat on it. One night however, it came out with barely any — the same size as two small fingers(I am a small woman). Yeah this is supposed to be a pot roast! I thought they must’ve ran out of meat or forgotten, so I asked the waittress. She explained that the meals already come out portioned, which didn’t make sense because if it was portioned, it would’ve come out just like my usual order. I told her that I order this entry a lot, and that this was unusual. I asked if they can add more meat to it, so she went to ask. Along the way, I can hear her shouting over to the cooks something like«she wants to add more meat, she says there’s not enough… It’s portioned… yeah I know right?» so I am sure other customers heard it too, which was embarressing. She came back, and told me that it they will need to charge me for the extra portion. I sat there not knowing what to say than«but there should already be more meat here»(I never had this issue before so idk what to say), so she got the manager, who was this tall skinny middle aged man with glasses. So when the manager came, I explained the situation to him, and how unusual the amount of meat is to my usual entry. I pointed to the tiny morsels of beef and said that it should’ve come with more than this. He looked up at me and said matter of factly — «it comes in portions». The manager’s body language felt really defensive, he was leaning on the table and frowning, saying that if I want any extras, I have to pay for it. I asked how much adding the meat will be, because if it’s only like 50 cents then I could let it slide and be fed for the night. Instead it was $ 3.45 just to add more meat(which I should’ve already gotten with my order anyway and as an extra). I then said that I am a regular customer here, ordering similar items, so this is a very unusual case and whether there are any ways to work around it this time, like switch this for a different order. He sternly said«absolutely not»(uhh ok…) so I said«I come here a lot, but if something like this can happen again in the future, I’ll have to go elsewhere.» He simply said«alright», and asked if I want a box for the food(which was really just two bread, 3 scoops of mashed potatoes, and a bit of veggies which was lacking as well but I wasn’t about to start anything over it at this point) and pay. I hear the waitress laughing in the background, I don’t know if it’s the she’s laughing at how ridiculous I am being. Maybe she was laughing at something else. I told the manager no, I can’t pay for this. «You can’t» he asked, looking more upset. «I won’t» I said, shaking my head. Then he said alright. I got up and said«have a good night» and left. The other customers were looking at me, so I am guessing that the employees and the manager made it pretty obvious to everyone else because I was trying to be as low key and polite about this. I walked out embarrassed and hungry, but fortunately there were other places around the area that were still open and very friendly. It’s not that the food came out weird that got me, because mistakes happen. But it’s definitely how they handled the situation and treated/embarrassed me as a customer that prompted me to get on Unilocal. It really says a lot about this particular Denny’s. I wonder if other customers get brushed off if there’s any problems. I’ve worked in service as well, and my bosses used to tell me that it’s better to try to work with the customers and negotiate because it really doesn’t help anyone if the customer is unhappy over something that could be tweaked a bit. I’ve been on both ends and the managers were willing to work around their mistakes, like give the customers a free drink/snack for giving them the wrong dish, discounts for missing something, and other work-arounds(to a reasonable degree) that doesn’t cut into their profits. And you definitely do not treat the customers like they’re stupid, get angry with them, or make it such a scene that even other customers get uncomfortable. I’ll go to other Denny’s, because other Denny’s have always been very friendly, but not this one.

5 stars all around today! We came in, were promptly seated & drink orders were taken. When the waitress brought us our drinks, she took our food order. Literally 15 minutes later our food was brought out to us! Super fast service today & it was decently filled with other customers. We had such a great waitress!
