This is such a lovely and delicious spot to get all the best Thai food. Portions are generous and am always happy with the taste. Will be back!

Great food overall. Excellent flavors. The pad thai and curries are not overly sweet like at some thai restaurants. The only reason I take off a star is because it’s in a bad neighborhood where you park in front of a ghetto convenience store where you may be hassled for money, and yet their prices are a bit higher than some other thai places in nicer neighborhoods.

Good food. My favorite lunch spot for both quality and quick service. I also get carry out when I’m too tired to cook, and it’s always consistently good.

wow! definitely not a book to judge by its cover, I’ll admit that despite it being a literal stones throw away from where I reside I procrastinated trying it based on the outer appearance. It does not look good, or like a place resembling a place where you would find delicious Thai cuisine. But if you made that presumption, as I did, you’d be wrong, as I was. Everything I’ve tried so far has been very flavorful. 4 star food, very friendly service, the best Thai in Sacramento for sure, I’ll be eating here regularly.

You must have the drunken noodle & yellow chicken curry! So flavorful and made fresh to order. Clean and modern atmosphere, will be back for more.

Nice little place to eat. Outside is not appealing as compared to the inside which is very cozy & clean. They have affordable lunch specials & very good service!

I live close by and come here all the time. The food is incredible and the prices are very reasonable. Service is always prompt and friendly too. I’ve tried at least half of the menu and haven’t been disappointed once. Their curry is really tasty and so are the soups. I’m surprised it’s usually pretty empty — I suspect the location and shady parking lot are to blame. I hope more people spread the word and keep this place in business because it’s fantastic.

I’ve only been there once but it was good. It’s kind of a hidden spot, so if you like places that are kinda secret, go there.

There is one dish that is truly outstanding here: Kao Soy Noodles(sweet yellow curry with noodles, I prefer chicken with rice or jelly noodles). Tried many of the other dishes here(including the famous spaghetti) and sorry to say none stood out to me, despite coming here many times to give it another try.

This place is fantastic! Usually get a curry dish and love every bite of it! I always get it to go because I work down the street and my co-workers always beg me to pick them up something.

We regularly get take out from Boon Boon Café and are never disappointed. We decided to eat in the restaurant yesterday because it has a really nice atmosphere and the employees are always so friendly. We had excellent and attentive service, complimentary basil and orange infused water, and as usual the food was delicious. Our usual order: Fried tofu appetizer, papaya salad, pineapple fried rice, chicken pad Thai, and see ew pork. Their soup and curry dishes are great too but are a bit too spicy for me. I highly recommend any of their rice or noodle dishes!

I ordered lunch here yesterday because Anna’s Vegan Café was closed(Mondays). Anna’s makes the best eggplant tofu ever, with an exceptional lunch special price so I’d hoped I could find something similar with a Unilocal search. I saw that Boon Boon was nearby so gave them a call. The young man went over their long list of «lunch specials», which went for $ 7.99 each. I really wasn’t happy with that price but I told myself to be open-minded. I ordered eggplant tofu with brown rice and a side of veggies. When I arrived there were two rectangular to-go boxes waiting for me. I asked to open them before paying. The eggplant tofu was a bit of a turn off, but maybe that’s because I had something to compare it to. The tofu was deep-fried which I wish would have been communicated with me, the chunks of eggplant were thick and few, and the grilled peppers reminded me of fajitas. However, the brown/purple rice came in a heaping, beautiful serving. I opened the next box and saw more deep-fried tofu and veggies. I asked him, «What is all of this?». He said, «It’s tofu!» and I giggled. He told me my total was $ 20, so I apologized and said we had a misunderstanding on my order. It seems he thought I wanted a second entrée when I asked for a side of veggies. Not a big deal. I paid about $ 10 for the eggplant dish with a side of rice only. Not much of a lunch special but it was already cooked and I didn’t have time to spare. The flavor was obviously different than that that of Vietnamese Anna’s, as Boon Boon is Thai. If Thai is your obsession which for many it is, you’ll love the all-familiar basil saturation in this dish. If Thai is your thing, you’d be OK with it. But you likely wouldn’t order it again, as I definitely wouldn’t. I would however take the«brown”/purple rice again any day. Boon Boon, please leave the eggplant tofu to Anna. Chao um!

I am giving Boon Boon a 4 because it’s a tad bit pricey. However, the food is well worth it. I have one favorite dish from here and it is the crab fried rice. Again, it’s a little bit over my price range but when I feel like indulging I treat myself to this at Boon every time. The rice is cooked to perfection(not burned or hard) they definitely don’t skimp you on the crab and the overall flavor is unique and delicious. I do have to say that the lunch specials are good. I recommend eating your lunch special there so you can get more bang for your buck. They give you soup and salad to start off with. The staff here is friendly and the food is prepared quickly. There is a wide selection of seating. I hope you check this place out.

This place is right down the street from work so I just walked over one day for lunch. Tried their Massaman chicken curry and it was very good. The meat and potato was done right and had the perfect flavor of peanuts and coconut. The sauce was so good I could eat it by itself like soup. So far ive only tried just this one item off their menu so im hoping to order something different soon so I can update my review to 5 stars.

I found a fruit fly in my hot and sour soup. Dead, sitting right on top. It was a to-go order so I didn’t know until I was long gone. Really was awful. I can’t go back. It was just on top. The first thing I saw. Easily something you see and at least take out and pretend it didn’t happen. I almost would have preferred that. Can’t even eat hot and sour soup now. And I love hot and sour soup :( Before this my experience here had been fine. The food is good, not spectacular, but they have reasonable prices and are on my way home. Appearance wise, the place looks awful. Really run down outside, bad neighborhood and parking lot. And there is never anyone inside. Every time I’ve gone in, no matter what time, I’ve never seen anyone inside the large restaurant. It has positive articles hung up inside, so it used to be good. What happened? Such a sad experience.

Beauty at this Thai restaurant definitely comes from within. The outside is terribly ghetto and goes with the neighborhood. Don’t leave your valued belongings in the car. Parking is heavily limited so peak hours is not your friend. The server and probably family owner was friendly and was glad I was there. I had the food staple of any Thai restaurants and had their Pad Thai. The food was delivered lighting fast in 5 min which would lead me to conclude that they handle rushes well. The food was tasteful and with abundance. Typically at other Thai restaurants, I receive half as much on my plate. Not here. They were equally giving in abundance with my Thai Ice Tea drink. It wasn’t just full of ice, the drink was 33% larger than most places! I was happy to satisfy my starving stomach and have a doggy bag to eat later.

This place has been around for ages and I finally gave it a chance. Although parking is limited and the restaurant itself is not in an appealing complex, the interior is really nice. I ordered to-go and didn’t spend too much time inside, but the business seemed pretty sanitary and the décor was very pretty. 5 stars for the crab fried rice! Shredded pieces of real crab folded into a warm mound of rice? Yes, please!

Looked up a quick lunch place on Unilocal near the UC Davis Medical Center. and headed to Boon Boon Café. It’s a sit down Thai restaurant with $ 7 lunch meals. I ordered the Spicy Basil Beef. It was good but a little on the salty side. I also ordered the Chicken Pad Thai Noodles which was very good. The Garlic Pork was the downer. The pork was dry, hard and salty. Service was OK, Parking is hard if you drive a large SUV to get in and out of the little spaces and the alley. You need to get a key to use the the interior restrooms.

The place was easy to spot for me. It’s a pastel green and pink building on the corner of Stockton Blvd and Broadway. The parking lot is located in the back. From the parking lot, I hurried past the liquor store and the people hanging outside of it. I didn’t dine in here. I picked up the orders that I called in. When I arrived, our orders were sitting on the counter and ready to go. The person who rung us up was friendly and quick, and I was in/out within 5 minutes. Lunch specials are $ 6.95, which was what most of my companions ordered. I had the Spicy Drunken Noodles, which was a larger portion meant to be shared. I liked the noodles, but spicy they were not. I wished I had some sriracha to make them spicier. I also had the Thai Ice Tea. It was the right amount of sweetness for me.
